1 day before
Katana woke up and groggily rubbed her eyes. Looking around, she smiled as she saw David still laying next to her. The sun shown through the morning windows and warmed the room from the cold air outside. Leaning over she kissed David then slowly crawled out of bed not to wake him. Looking at the clock she realized she was late to get to the HQ. She hated to run off but she knew he would understand, and it wasn't like they weren't going to see each other that night too.
Finally getting out of bed she set her feet on the cold wood floor then she walked over and slid open a drawer where she kept her things, and smiled. She was quite happy every time she stayed over and loved the fact he had cleared a drawer for her to keep her few things in. She awaited the day that he asked for her to actually move in. Shaking her smile away she realized that time was ticking by quickly. Katana suddenly snatched her clothes from the drawer and then took them to the bathroom to get dressed.
"Katana.." David had finally woken up, rolled over and sighed as he realized the place next to him was empty. He knew she had a job to do though so he simply laid there looking at her picture by his bed. Hearing something in the other room, he got up and slipped on his pants from the night before then carefully opened the bedroom door.
"David! How are you today?" Michael smirked as he watched David's eyes widen. "Ohh don't look so happy to see me." Michael took a few steps closer as David saw out of the corner of his eyes two other lurking towards him.
"Michael right? Where's Katana?" David suddenly got a deep fear that she had been injured and needed to know she was ok. His heart sunk at the very feeling but he tried desperately not to show it
"She should be the least of your worries." Michael laughed as one of the other two men that accompanied him lunged forward and struck David driving him to his knees where the second man delivered a strong blow to the back of his head. Leaving him unconcious on the floor with a bit of blood from the blows Michael motioned for his accomplices. "Well now that was easy enough. Boys get him lets go. I'm ready for the games to begin."
Katana sat of her desk and twiddled a pen in her fingers. Nothing much had been going on at the office and she wished she had just been able to stay at David's house the entire day. She smiled thinking of them having breakfast in bed together and maybe skipping lunch. She giggled to herself then looked at the clock as her smiled grew bigger because she only had about one hour left of work.
"Katana?" The women's voice came from around the corner of the door as she poked her head in.
"Katie.. What in the world are you doing?" Katana always got a good laugh at her bestfriend Katie and her silly antics. They matched quite a few of her own antics, and the two's friendship had grown since her time in the family to be the friends they are today.
"Wanna leave early and have a few drinks? The boss is out of town and well.." She snickered as she bounced up and down.
"Nah.. but I might take you up on that leaving early." Katana put her pen down and straightened her desk a bit as she stood up.
"Aww boo! Let me guess David?" Katie's voice hinted her joking as she pretended to pout.
"Yah but of course! He really is something amazing." Katana stood up as she repeated amazing to herself and then waved bye to Katie as she locked her office door.
The drive home was serene. Everything seemed so peaceful for Christmas to be quickly approaching and it didn't take her long to pull up into David's driveway. She looked in the mirror and straightened a few strands of her hair before getting out of the car and walking up to the door. She pulled the key to his house out of her pocket and smiled at thoughts of him being excited to see her and surprised.
Opening the door she smiled as she entered, and then looking around was puzzled. Usually he greeted her as she entered the door, and she had been looking forward to him right as she walked in. Shrugging she walked over and then looked down and spotted something on the cream carpet in the hallway. Stepping closer her eyes widened as she knelt down and saw the small red spots that dotted the area. She grabbed her gun that sat in it's holster on her thigh and carefully walked in to the bedroom.
"David?" She spoke softly hoping to get some kind of answer but as she flicked on the light she gasped as she saw the rose and note sitting on the unmade bed. Slowly she let herself grab the note praying it would be something that said went out with the guys be back later, but as she had a sinking feeling she should know better.
Dearest Katana, I told you oneday I'd get revenge. Guess today is my lucky day!
The letter slipped from her fingers and fell to the floor as she collapsed on the bed in tears. What was she to do? Her hands shook as she held the gun in her hand still. She jumped as she heard a brick shatter the window in front of her and land almost at her feet as she heard tires squeal off from outside. She rose the gun up and then noticed something attached to the brick. The shattered glass peppered the ground beneath her feet as she took two steps knelt down and picked up the second note.
Want him back? 7:00 pm tomorrow the warehouse down by the docks. Anyone comes with I will know he dies and you die. ~Michael
Her rage grew inside of her. "How stupid was I!" She threw the flower across the room watching as a few petals floated from it to the floor. Grabbing her gun she went in the kitchen to grab a glass of wine. Her tears streamed down her face as she realized there was nothing to do but wait. Popping open the bottle she poured it a glass and sat there watching her tears create ripples in the blood red wine. |
