| Remember Me Feature | Started by: Tom_Doogle on Dec 29, '10 01:28 |

I'm sure it's been brought up before, however I could not locate an older thread. Is there a specific reason we do not have a remember me feature? It sure is a pain to enter my PW on a touch screen phone or randomly when I open up a second tab to read the streets |

Tick the "Bind" option on the main page where you sign in. But you will still have to enter the security number. |

Two quick things... The bind option is nothing to do with "remember me". The Bind option disables an extra layer of security that we put into place. This extra level of security binds your IP address into your cookie used for authentication. (Unneeded, but, its an extra level that we like to take). On some mobile broadbands, or some lamer ISPs, your IP changes often in the middle of your session, causing you to get logged out... |

I would like a feature that at least remembers my username. I understand why the password isn't saved entirely, but having the username saved couldn't do any harm? |

You can set your browser to remember this information Ricketts. My browser does? |

yes for browsers its easy...but for phones! Also, when I hit Mobile Version while on my phone, I get the mobile version only for 1 click...then its back to the full MR site and everything is all bunched together |

Yeah, that's normal... The mobile site isn't a full version, it's just for easier navigation... |

well, I am happy to be apart of this game and my props to everyone involved, but a new GUI should not take precedence over a mobile phone version, especially with the way phones have progessed in technology over the last couple of years. Heck, unlimitted data packages for $15/mo make it more possible than ever to afford. And also considering the new UI isnt too terribly different than the one we currently use, I'd have liked to see mobile phone UI be improved/completed before the new UI is. But that's just my opinion and I realize it may not be the popular one. |

I kinda do agree with you there Tom. My phone is a touch screen, which means I can't use the drop down menus on the normal site (which leaves me struggling to complete certain activities on my phone), and as you say the mobile site only works for one click! It would be nice to have it working but I know the admins are always working on improving the game and only they know how busy they are, how important this upgrade is is really up to them to prioritise. |

The game was not meant to be played on the phone. The game's main income doesn't come from those that use the phone. There are so many phones out there that have different needs that there most likely have to be at least two versions of a mobile site done. Touch and not touch. I'd be happy there's even a page made for easier navigation. |

Oh and one other thing... You think the coders work for free? |

Times change - the internet is widely accessible via mobile phones. The game's main income comes from the end user. The end user accesses the game via the internet. The internet is available through the PC and the mobile phone. If anything, a mobile phone friendly site would keep players more involved. Don't assume that by making a mobile phone compatible site means MR is abandoning the PC community -- or even trying to "create" a mobile phone community. It's just another way for me to play the game while I'm away from my computer. Imagine..sitting at the airport, I'm making drug runs and purchasing credits because I have accessability. Or my shift at work changes and now i'm working 12 hour shifts - that means less playing time for me because MR can only be played from my computer. I can handle business on my lunch break and in between meetings. No, I don't think the coders work for free. And I also don't think you've ever attempted to use the mobile phone version of the site, because it's virtually useless. Me, selfish? No - but our needs are already met with the UI here on MR. The new UI hasn't received overwhelming positive reviews either. As far as your phone comment - it's the year 2011, everyone has a cell phone. If they can't afford a cell phone, then they aren't the ones BUYING credits, now are they? No need to be condescinding...I brought my opinion here not to belittle the coders or cause a fit in the community. I just think its time to harness the power of modern technology and help make MR much more accessible.

My former 5 year old Samsung phone could access the internet. My new Samsung bought a few weeks ago can access the internet. Unlimited data in the United States is $25 for phones other than smart phones, which will run you more. I'm not sure the rates in other countries and nor do I ASSUME (you're favorite word?) to know them. What the hell does game cash credits have to do with real cash purchased credits? Just because you bought 10 credits with game cash doesn't mean shit profit wise. There is no correlation. If you buy 10 credits with game money, good for you, but if I buy 10 credits with real money, that's money in MR's pocket. If anything, game cash helps the MR economy going. Unless I'm missing something, explain to me how more crdits bought with game money means more money bought with real cash. |
