Gavin flashed a smile at his daughter.

"Squirt, I'm talking about a vacation. Not falling off the map. I'm not going anywhere that doesn't have a phone."

He paused, processing a lot of what she said. 

"I'll borrow your boat. Test it out for you. But I'll give it back to you."

Gavin reached out and took her chin gently, forcing her to make eye contact with him.

"And Rora, it's not your job to make things stable for me. Or for anyone else other than your children and your husband."

He dropped his hand to his side and smiled.

"Stop putting pressure on yourself, kid. Tara spent her life constantly comparing herself to Jack. Your mother compared herself to- look, it's just not a healthy way of thinking. Be yourself. Be unapologetically yourself, and do what you can. Then stop thinking so much."

Gavin slung an arm around his daughter's shoulders.

"How about... we go back and have one more last drink while we listen to your mother be so wrong about things when she was your age."

He grinned. 

"You might need to hear that stuff a second time..."
