Aurora looked to Emily-Renfroe when no reply came to her knocks and calls for someone inside to come to the door and let them in.  She sighed.  "I'll have to pick the lock."

She pulled a bobby pin out of her hair and knelt down to begin working on the lock.  "Keep an eye out."  She told the other woman quietly.  "I don't like this don't like this and I don't want anyone sneaking up on us."

There were several things that Emily had been thinking that she really needed to learn. One of them was how to drive, and the other was how to shoot. In her new circle of friends, Emily was the only one who didn't carry a weapon. The current situation seemed to highlight that need. 

Like a sentinel, Emily watched every direction like an eagle, keeping her head on a swivel. 

"Things seem quiet. You said this place belonged to a friend?" 

"Friend might be too generous."  She admitted while trying to feel for the tumblers.  She put her gun down, giving up on trying to do it one-handed.  This was not her area of expertise.  She was a hitman, not a B&E expert.  She'd been picking locks since she was a kid, sure, but to say her talents were rusty was an understatement.

"Someone I met once in a bar.  Twice now I guess ... my guys are holding him until this information checks out.  If he were a friend I wouldn't have to be so worried about this being a trap."  She sighed with relief as she felt the lock fall into place.

"There."  She said standing up.  Her bobby pin was shot.  She tossed it into the gutter.  "Alright, you ready?"  

Aurora turned the knob and listened as she entered cautiously, her gun at the ready.  She was supposed to announce herself but so far that hadn't yielded results.  She thought about continuing to call out but it felt reckless at this point.  She whispered, "Stay close when we find someone - if it looks safe, I'll announce our presence.  If it's not, I want the option to try and retreat. Okay?"

With that Aurora began to move through the building as quietly as possible, searching for some sign of life - but truthfully, some sign of her husband.

Out of the corner of her eye Vale caught glimpse of Billy moving, it wasn't one of the normal sporadic twitches but more so movement as he was waking up. Quickly she got up from her seat, which was situated next to the radio and made her way over to the table Billy was laying on. She was able to make it over to him before he was even able to open his eyes. It was probably for the better, didn't want him waking up in a location he didn't know without sight of someone familiar.

She also knew he was probably going to lash out, get loud and all of that. This is why she made sure to place her hand over his mouth, hoping he didn't chomp down on it out of reflex. Would have made an already interesting day even more interesting. She could tell he wanted to scream but resisted as his eyes locked onto hers. 

It was a look that she knew all too well, a look of curiosity, of wonderment. With her free hand she raised her pointer finger to her lips to signal for him to be quiet. A simple nod from him signaled he understood and with that she removed her hand from his mouth. That's when she began speaking.

She told him about the incident in his flower shop as she wasn't sure if he would remember it. Then the ride to the hospital, the man in the hospital and the escape. Then finally ending up where they were now. After explaining the series of events Vale stopped with a long pause before continuing.

"We got here hours ago, how long I really don't know. The man said he was sending for your wife and possibly your cousin, I would hope he was able to reach them. If not we will just hang here until you gain your strength back and then head out ourselves."

Billy shook his head slowly and closed his eyes again.

"My wife is going to kill me."

He took in a slow deep methodical few breaths before he continued.

"So you followed the advice of a stranger to pull me out of a hospital and put me somewhere that you aren't even sure is safe? Valencia, you're more reckless than I am, you know that? Your father would have my head on a pike if he thought I had anything to do with you disappearing into the wind for a couple of hours. Besides, if we're being honest I don't think those guys at the gambling hall were after me. They seemed to have a pretty cold eye on you. You could have left me at the hospital and gone home to safety."

He looked around the room.

"We got water or something? Am I even allowed to have water?"

Vale shrugged

"He seemed to know exactly what he was talking about and I didn't want to risk someone coming into the hospital and hurting you further. Not on my watch at least. Normally I would have shrugged it off and told the guy where to get off and how to get there. Though there was something about him that seemed trustworthy. It's hard to explain, plus he gave me his gun. Not many people would give up their weapon so willingly."

Vale took the gun from off her side and placed it down next to Billy.

"Yes I've already checked it, it is loaded."

She then went over to the icebox and pulled out one of the mason jars. Opened it and gave it a smell. It was odorless, the first positive sign that it was water. She then stuck a finger in it and gave it a little taste, it was water. She took the jar back to Billy and handed it to him.

"I'm not sure if you can have water, we kind of left the hospital quickly but I'd say you could take a sip or two."

Billy nodded. No gulping then.

He took the jar and had a couple of sips before handing it back.

"Well, you're right about the gun at least, and if you say the guy is trustworthy well, it's not like I was conscious so thank you." 

He chuckled once then, but decided that laughter was, in this case, not the best medicine.

"So, since I'm not going to the hospital are we getting a doctor to come here? I'll pay whatever they want for the house call."

Vale smirked as she took the jar back from Billy, taking the top and sealing it off.

"Well you see..."

She hesitated to find the words to answer him.

"I truly don't know where we are, other then in Detroit still."

She looked over to the radio then back at Billy.

"The only communication we have is this radio and if I broadcast on it and someone is looking for us they would know exactly where to find us. There is a fresh medical kit over there though on the shelf, I'm not a doctor but I can at least put fresh bandages and stuff on it if you want?"

Billy looked down at himself and then back to Valencia. He shook his head.

"I don't think I've bled through the ones on it now, should be fine. Just hurts like there's no tomorrow."

He smiled then.

"Well, if I know my wife, she won't stop till she finds me, so we can ignore the radio if you're got a deck of cards. If not, there's always a set of dice in my jacket pocket."

That's when it hit him. He didn't have his jacket on. He didn't have his holster on!

"Valencia. My guns, where are my guns? My holster too! Please tell me you've got them?"

Her heart sunk, she knew exactly where they were. They were exactly where she left them. In the car at the hospital, she was in too much of a panic to even think about his jacket and his holster. 

Vale nervously chuckled then handed Billy the gun that the man had given her.

"So... I got this nice shiny gun for you..."

Billy sighed and took in a deep breath before closing his eyes and willing himself to sit up.

"Alright. Time to go then. Now way I can leave any of that behind. Don't care if I bleed out, those guns mean more than just one life."

Everything around his wound felt like it was on fire, but he grit his teeth and stood on his feet. At least his legs worked. Sort of. He had to take it slow or risk ripping his wound open. he had to take it slow to mitigate the pain. He had to take it slow because he couldn't even fight off Valencia right now if he wanted to, and she could fight too. She instead he looked her dead in the eye.

"Not taking no for an answer. I appreciate you trying to hide me away, but there's no way I sit here and do nothing while those are out there. So you can come with me, or you can stay here. Up to you."

He waved a hand toward the door then and put one foot in front of the other starting in that direction.

Emily admired the way Aurora moved through the seemingly abandoned building. It was like watching a soldier. She was focused, brave, and tactical. Emily, on the other hand, was moving cautiously behind her like a jelly-legged baby deer in the dark woods. This isn't what she was cut out for. Her specialty was medicine; but every step was making it more and more clear that she needed a lot of toughening up.

When Aurora pushed through the next door, Emily peered past her and immediately saw Billy, only partially standing and trying to walk toward the door.

"BILLY!  What the fuck are you doing!?"

Her outburst might have surprised even her if she hadn't been so focused on the task in front of her. With the information she knew, Billy was badly hurt, and from the pale look of his skin, there was no reason he should be up at all. Emily rushed past Aurora and put her shoulder beneath his arm for support.

"Aurora, help me get him back down."

Before he could protest, Emily glared at him and spoke with a flat, no nonsense tone.

"We're not leaving here until I know you're stable, got it?"

"BILLY!  What the fuck are you doing!?"

Emily rushed in, but the other woman in the room caused Aurora to hesitate. 

I told you... nothing from the hand of a Godfather comes cheaply and here you are bleeding with one of them!

"Aurora, help me get him back down."

Aurora forced herself out of the depths of her thoughts.  After a moment of hesitation, she lowered her gun and holstered it.  She did everything just as Emily instructed but her eyes kept going back to Valencia.

Before he could protest, Emily glared at him and spoke with a flat, no nonsense tone. "We're not leaving here until I know you're stable, got it?"

Aurora had not said one single word to Billy yet.  Nearly a full minute of silence had passed before she finally lowered her amber gaze respectfully and greeted the woman in a near whisper, "Godmother Valencia," she swallowed, "Thank you for watching over my husband.  Are you alright?"
