As Annie concluded the tale regarding the death of Mina Carolina, something spoke to Amy and Rosa. It was clear that there was some dissension in the ranks of the warrior unit, mostly with Reiner it seemed. He was a fanatic, he was loyal to the army and people of the foundation. It was admirable to the people back in New York, those who believed themselves, devils. It was something that they did not wish to delve into that much but such was there burden now. "I'm sure you are noticing a pattern right about now. Reiner is difficult, I am in no way defending his ways but we all had our moments of loyalty. Some of us do shift back into the warriors we are meant to be, those who have to fulfill, our duty to the cause. If we do not, it is something most difficult for us to break. Reiner more so, you have to understand, from such a young age, we are told that those who wear the black armbands are devils." Amy let out a curious hum, writing down some notes regarding the information the foundation had given to those of its armies. Clearly, they had left some information out, she spared a look over at Diaz and noticed her giving Annie a certain look, it most definitely was not pity. It seemed like understanding, which they knew a bit about. Working as officers, you felt obligated, even you had a duty to fulfill to the bitter end. "So they train you to be warriors? To fight against your enemies?" Annie tilted her head to the side and curiously enough, she looked a bit put out. Almost like she was fighting herself in answering the question, she had too anyway. The Yeager matriarch had given a brief nod before going further into an explanation, her own voice nearly failed her in answering the question. "Yes, it's exactly what the name entails. We were trained to be fighters, we were child soldiers and we were good at it. We even had some kind of special initiation, where we were gifted each with a special armband. It signified our ranking and who we had under our command. Reiner led the Armored Knights, its why he led us at the time, Zeke was not there as he ran the entire unit itself. I organized with the Agility Squad and Bertolt with the Explosives Division." Annie leaned forward, her eyes glistening a little as she listed the division that she had run for a while. That division had been her pride and joy when not fighting against Eldians, she smiled a bit, something that Amy and Rosa noticed. They allowed her the little moment, considering that it would have been a proud moment in her life. "And so, the battle continued. We moved further up the pier, making sure that everything was prepped for Zeke and the remaining warriors. We noticed an advantage and utilized it. The Eldian reinforcements were not under experienced leadership, without a competent commander, they were left easy prey. We moved in and took what we needed to at the time." Amy and Rosa had both raised their eyebrows, wondering what Annie had meant by that. The warriors were on a mission that day? They had both leaned forward, asking the question silently to which Annie nodded, understanding what they meant. "The Eldians, they were rumored to be creating some military tech that could have changed the world itself. The higher-ups never told us what it was but I and Bert assumed that they are still looking for it, otherwise, why would they still be waging this war? It's clear that no one knows what this is but supposedly, it's hidden somewhere in Seattle..." Amy and Rosa faced one another once again. If this was happening over military tech, is it possible that Jake or Holt knew? Hm, the would have to check this out but something told them this was likely. Facing Annie once more, they allowed a smile to brighten their faces. "Annie, if you could, please continue. This is the final question." Annie nodded, believing that she was fully prepared for the question, whatever it may be. "What happened after the battle? What was the mood like in the war room?" Annie's eyes had gone wide, remembering that moment as clear as day but she had gotten choked up. She knew that she had to answer, her mind went back to that day once again as she recalled perfectly what happened. |
