The Riverwalk Employment Agency Started by: Aurora_Mastrosimone on Jul 15, '19 02:22

Lioness Logistical Solutions, an employment agency, is located in the southern reaches of the area known as 'The Riverwalk.'  It is a small and rather unremarkable location from the outside.  Its brownstone is rough-hewn and it two large windows set like eyes watching the Detroit River meandering along in front of it, giving those who pass by a view of the waiting area within.  Several small desks are manned by staff members whose purpose is to help the normal man (or woman) coming in with the task of finding work in these lean times.

The legit work might be things like public maintenance for the City of Detroit or day labor on a construction site... but for those in the know, for those who are 'friends' in this thing of ours, there is door set at the far back of the building.  This door has a single plaque mounted to it which reads only: 'Aurora Mastrosimone'

For those criminals looking for work, it is known that you can come into the Employment Agency and ask the secretary at the front to let you speak with Mrs. Mastrosimone.  You will be invited to wait and in time you will be called back to meet with Aurora who will offer a very different kind of job than what's being offered to the folks who walk the straight and narrow in the waiting room.

You will be tasked to do something, go to the streets, do the work and then report to Mrs. Mastrosimone with proof that you've done the job.  Upon successful completion of your appointed task, you will be paid.  You're welcome to come looking for work as often as you like.  There are always things to be done around The Riverwalk.  The more complex the task and the more people needed to do the job... the bigger the payout.

It's that simple.  Now the only question is: are you looking for something to do?  Do you want/need to make a quick buck?  Certainly, the extra work won't hurt your reputation in the streets!

The double set of doors stands silent, waiting for you to enter or to keep walking by.

Hunter Solomon knew that he had changed with his time in this new world, he had become a drifter of sorts. A man that was tied to no one and had many associates across the many states. He guessed that he was lucky that way, only he was back home in Detroit, while his mainstay was now in Chicago for the foreseeable future, his home had always been Detroit. He even purchased a house here, he liked it, plus it was a place that saw a lot of war and he had been involved with his fair share.

Now before the Crisis, he had been informed of a new place on the block, an employment agency headed by an Aurora Mastrosimone. While he was not that versed in the famillies or dynasties that were around the American-Italian mafia, he decided to give the newly-minted business owner a chance. Besides, he could do with the extra cash.

He kept his face blank and his eyes were that of a snake, cold and unfeeling. One would think that he was depressed, he was just trying to keep his emotions under control. Hunter knew it was best not to blow a gasket in front of a possible ally, bowing his head, he walked to the Receptionist desk, drumming his fingers on the counter for a moment before she gave him attention with a raised eyebrow.

She did continue to work on her own documents before finally giving him the full attention that a possible employee deserved.

"This is the Riverwalk Employment Agency, correct?"

She nodded before gesturing for him to take a seat as she would inform Miss. Mastrosimone, Hunter nodded, picking up a newspaper and reading the headline that made him smile oddly enough.

Aurora had begun this project as a no one.  The Riverwalk was the ghost of a dream which her mother had had back when she was the age Aurora was now, but the similarities between them the two young women ended there.

Bella had taken a drastic turn in her path before she'd reached the point where Aurora stood now - separating herself from power and titles to embrace love and happiness with Gavin Byrne.  In the end, she found her way back to all that she'd walked away from in Detroit but it had led to her doom.  The way Aurora saw it, however, her mother was equal parts blessed... and spoiled.  She'd been kept away from the truth of the world and this life, protected, much as she'd been as a child.  She'd grown up in a veritable Camelot which had been Race Street, but that was all over now, and every golden thing she had built here in Detroit was paid for and protected with hot lead and warm blood.  Nothing was to be taken for granted - nothing was safe.

Maybe Aurora had the benefit of having seen where her mother ended her life and so took the express path there? It was the only thing that made any sense to her. And while she tried hard not to dwell on these sobering things or to compare her lot in life to her mother's ... well, it was hard not to.

For nearly two years Aurora put the losses they'd suffered squarely on her own shoulders, but with the help of those she loved, she was coming to accept that her vision was simply skewed.  When one has so much, they had that much more to lose than others, and what is normal to the rest of the world felt like hell itself.  Yes, much of what had been was now just ashes... but these losses were not her fault. Her life was merely coming down from the unnatural high where it had begun and she was finally seeing how the rest of the world lived for the very first time.

The papers on her desk and the daily chore of making sure all the gears kept turning, that all the balls stayed in the air, and if she hesitated a moment something would have to give - and so it was Aurora had become like Bella herself, spending long hours in her office, promising herself that the sacrifices would all be worth it at the end.  The memory of her mother's final words to her was a sacred promise that it would be.  Aurora could only hope that Bella had not used her final moments to sell her on a beautiful lie.

"Mrs. Mastrosimone?"  Angie peaked into the office.

Aurora looked up from the small photo of her mother and returned it to the place it held on the corner of her desk with all the other photos of her family members.  "Yes?"

"Someone here to see you."  She said.

"Send them in."  Aurora gave herself a quick glance in the mirror on the wall beside her.  Her hair was still dyed blonde and held back in a simple ponytail.  Her attire wasn't business-like, the former enforcer hadn't quite been able to embrace that aspect of her new life 100% of the time.  Today she wore denim slacks and a white satin blouse that was 'dressy enough' or so she told herself.  Her leather jacket, bloodstains on her cuffs, hung on a stand near the door her guns lay in an open drawer beside her.  She hated not having them on, but she found it made negotiating with clients a bit harder.

She met the gaze of HunterSolomon as he entered her office and she gave him a polite smile offering her hand across the desk, rising up to shake.  "Good afternoon, I'm Aurora Mastrosimone... and you are?"

Hunter smiled, showing his polite side as he stepped forward and took her hand in his shaking it. Losing his smile, Hunter stood there for a moment, taking in the office. It was quite different from what someone would expect from a person of a quite high stature. It was different, Solomon found that he enjoyed that sometimes. A person who was not afraid to blur the lines, go out the norm in one way or another.

The Romanesque crew that had taken Detroit by storm, it was all the rage, their leader who slaved away and worked day and night. Hunter would not lie and say that the man was not worthy because of the way he worked, he was ready. The look in his eyes, he had seen them one time and he knew, they were the eyes of a warrior. Someone ready to fight and die for his family if he wished that so, he was a man worthy of the right to name his crew 'The First Legion'.

Removing himself from his thoughts had proven quite difficult, deciding to lean forward and rest his hands on the chair for a moment. He noticed that he had left a rather patient Aurora waiting for his name, his cheeks turned red with embarrassment before nodding and muttering to himself that he was acting like a child again.

"Apologies, it's a pleasure to meet you, Miss. Mastrosimone. I am Hunter Solomon, I work with Dean Winchester in Chicago."

He would believe that suited the situation quite well but the one who he was to speak to in regards to work may believe differently. Hunter knew that he may have to redeem himself for the pause in his speech then, with a wave of his hand, he decided to move this along before this went further into his dreams.

"I had heard from a few associates that you offer work here, I also got the letter from you regarding the investors with the Riverwalk Agency. Apologies I couldn't make the meeting, it was well, a crisis had come up."

He smiled, leaving it at that with a distant look in his eyes and bob of his head.

Hunter knew that explaining that whole mess of a situation would take a while, and time was something that he could not spare. Instead, he wanted to get some work done, taking his mind off the business that had haunted him for a while now.
