A man called Walrus Started by: Pablo on Jan 15, '11 21:13

Strolling through the streets Pablo saw a guy on the corner who looked down on his luck. His clothing ragged and dirty, he looked like he didn't have a dollar to his name. Being the friendly and generous man that Pablo was, he introduced himself to the man, offering him a home and a chance to earn some money. To which the man responded,

"Man fuck you"

Pablo was astonished at the man's response and blatant lack of respect. After a few other brief words were quickly exchange, the conversation came to an abrupt end. At which point Pablo left the man in the street, wishing any unfortunate mafioso who decided to take him in good luck. The man undoubtedly has no respect and is bound to only cause trouble.

While I can understand your point here sir, I can also speak as a person that has recently survived the onslaught of "Hey, need some help?" and "Oh hey there, if you need a family let me know." as well as random invites being thrown my way as soon as I arrived at the Los Angeles airport. Not one of these impromptu offers was from anyone my ancestors knew or had left word with to look after me should I choose to call this place home.

I too grew tired of the onslaught of available sponsors. Most ignored a very obvious badge on my back stating my intentions when it came to my choice of family.

It's frustrating. It's intimidating. It's downright spammariffic.

So try and see it from a newcomer's eyes.. There's nothing more aggravating than being overwhelmed with numerous offers and requests for membership. In fact, it made me think that people were desperate for just anyone to join them rather than taking time to get to know me and decide if I was suitable.

Sometimes people don't want to be approached by strangers, sometimes they have a job to go to.. Sometimes they just don't give a shit and want to go it on their own.

She shrugs and turns to walk away.

Bring this to the Streets is fine, but where did you want it to go from here? You didn't correct his behaviour or use it as a lesson to those that are new to our Streets.. You just moaned a bit about it and walked away.

Report Post Tip

I'm not sure what's worse. A lowly thug disrespecting a man of honor, or a man of honor running out to the streets to tattle on some nobody. Handle your business like a man. Not like this.

Report Post Tip

Yeah ok, I see both your points. I'm not one to hang around the docks offering everyone of the boat a invite into the family, just the odd one two every now and then.

But he is still a dick, there is no reason to instantly reply with "man fuck you".

(OOC. As for bringing it to the streets, I'm just role playing an event that happened, I see nothing wrong with that.)

Report Post Tip

Jin listens to his good friend intently, after a few people speak their mind, he steps up finally.

While I see your point Ms_Molsen(And Pablo it can be very annoying) this what...Petty Thief? Needs to show respect. Whether it be Made Man above or a Gangster, there were better ways for Walrus to go about this.

As for Pablo bringing this to the streets, I don't see a problem in that.

(OOC: As he's said, I don't see anything wrong with a little RP)

Report Post Tip

Other than to get his name out there I see no point to this discussion beyond the debate it has now sparked Jin... And my name is Ms. Molson, not Ms. Molsen. Thanks.

If he wants to share his experience great... But erm, other than petty bickering or exactly what has been said here by Mr. Camper and myself what is there to say?

Yes, respect should have been shown. That is one of the things our society is based on. Did he have to make a big deal over it? Naw, I don't think so, but whatever floats his boat.

At the same time he is free to share his words, his opinions, his stories.. So are the rest of us. Even if it isn't in way to go pat on the ass manner of speaking.

She hands Jin a bran muffin and skips off.

They say we don't get enough fiber in our diet here's something to help keep things moving.

Report Post Tip

I understand. My apologies for mispronouncing youre name..I've been drinking today.

Report Post Tip

Ok people lets not get worked about this. I'm not going to kick up a fuss with Family about him, a simple word in the street will do to let people know what kind of character he is. I do this for a reason, Ms_Molson you may remember the name Father_O_Malley?

If someone now thinks twice about recruiting him then good. Then they wont have the headache of having to deal with him later when he starts throwing more insults around.

(OOC when I started my first character I was unsure of how to approach people. When I got I few message about joining peoples crew, I quite liked it, made me feel welcome and less lost and alone. But I guess everyone is different I suppose)

Pablo, I apologize for that big ol thing that used her words needlessly. That animal had no right to try and embarass you the way she did. I mean that has got to be one of the saddest things to see, someone so depressed with their own life they try to make someone else feel stupid. Its like hello do you not see the rank? This man is a capo, here in Chicago thats not an easy rank to attain you honestly have to earn that. You know i really cant stand when people respond back to you and decide to treat you like you are a nobody. I very much dislike that beastly person.

However i believe Ms.Molson has brought up something we should look into. Where were you going with this? Since you were voicing your opinion id like to jump on in, if you wouldnt mind my dear Capo. Id like to ask the question, Should a man be shunned for his past sins? Take Walrus for instance, If he found a family and they taught him the way things work could he live or should he be killed?

I can see the idea of forgiving Mr. Walrus, i mean he has never been in this thing of ours he dosent know what a man of honor is. Maybe he has a long lost ancestor who once was a part of this kind of life but if a family took him and molded him maybe he could be a future legend in the mafioso life. Maybe he could go on and change his ways and behave like a man of honor then most people now a days. I guess Pablo since you did start the speech i would like to hear your response first my chicago friend.

Approaches the streets from the coffee shop he was sitting in, listening to the debate going on

BoCamper, no one in Chicago needs your advice on how to handle business, but thank you for your suggestion.

Secondly, Pablo thank you for letting us know this man you spoke about may have less then a reputable amount of respect, I find nothing wrong with a Capo from Chicago coming and telling a story, about a situation he encountered while walking these streets. I wish more people would entertain me with their stories of daily life, i do enjoy them. Pablo come see me later we can chat more about daily business.

Third, i'd like to apologize for the dear departed Hector, he spoke with disrspect to a rhm and for that i am sorry.

makes a cross across his chest

Do i preach support of your fellow brothers in my city? Yes, but above that i preach respect, and if you come to the streets and disrespect people you will be dealt with.

Some people just dont want help or understand that they NEED the help..

Tony steps over a body that had been laying in the streets for a week...the man obviously did not belong to a family or have any protection

Its always been a fine line.. I remember the days of openly sending invitations, the days of 'helpful mobmails' with the exact same idea behind them just more friendly from the outside, the days of open recruitment, and of course a few real recruitment tactics that properly done worked well for a family.

We cant stop business by closing down shop and not keeping our eyes open for good business partners, but we must do so while remembering the type of enviroment we live and work in, while also maintaining the standards of our world and your specific family based on how the boss says to run ship.

Anyways Pablo, the kid was probley jelous that you were connected and a good chance ill be stepping over his body in the near future..as just like Don Premeir mentioned respect is key, and it is the key to living or dying.

Report Post Tip

Carrying on the debate which seemed to be getting a little out of hand. Pablo saw the impressive figures of -Premeir and TonyCorelli suddenly appear and join in the debate. Standing there Pablo would have been lying if he didn't admit to himself to feeling a bit nervous as he listed intently and respectfully to the words of these two Dons.

-Premeir, TonyCorelli, you are both wise beyond my years and I thank you for your words.

-Premeir it would be a pleasure to discuss some business with you, I have a fresh shipment of Cubans in from my cousin, I shall bring a box over and we can light a couple up.

TonyCorelli as always your views are thoughtful and insightful. Indeed it is a fine line one walks when trying to find new business partners in this world. I shall think upon your words and perhaps try to learn from them.

Pablo gathered his thoughts to answer his good friend HECTOR-BAUTISTA. Looking around he suddenly noticed HECTOR was no longer here. Pablo had not noticed him leave, but then he had been distracted by the arrival of the two Dons.

To answer the question asked by HECTOR, should this man be killed? Of cause not, I have not called for that nor would I. If someone can teach him some manners then I wish them all the best. Hopefully he can learn. Sometimes I believe letting people know someones true character can be more effective than threats or a bullet.

There's different calibers of Made members around here. Obviously we all come from different breeds. I would have to agree with bocamper on this.

No one needed bocampers advice on business in Chicago and we can classify your advice in the same file.

Report Post Tip

Just to clarify, I don't really care and it isn't my concern how business is conducted in Chicago. I don't think anyone outside of Chicago gives a rat's tail what happens in that city. My comment was directed at Pablo only, and it had nothing to do with his family business. When I said "handle your business", I meant taking care of the disrespectful punk himself. Pablo came out to the streets to speak of this matter in the hopes that someone else would handle his problem for him. In my opinion, that is the cowardly way to deal with disrespect. I hoped my comment would help him to see this, and he would do what he needed to do in order to show Walrus that he does not take disrespect lightly. By appealing to others in the hopes that someone else would deal out the punishment, Pablo is not going to earn the respect that his rank is due.

Report Post Tip

Pablo was merely explaining a situation, that he dealt with earlier, no where in his speech did he ask or appeal for help. Pablo has already earned his respect that is why he is a capo in our city. Coming to try and belittle him in the streets speaks how much you deserve your rank, maybe you should work on earning your tittle before calling someone else out.

Report Post Tip

You don't think we earn our ranks in New York?

Report Post Tip

I don't recall saying anything about New York.

Thinks back

Ah yes, you said that a capo and Chicago wasn't deserving of his rank, after disrespecting him for no reason, and that he couldn't handle a situation so begged in the street.

Then I implied you are so worried about other peoples status, that you, yourself needed to worry about your own, since your complete lack of respect is apparent.

I don't see the a word of New York mentioned, only that you BoCamper.

Report Post Tip

You made a point of saying that Pablo was a Capo because he earned his rank. You suggested that I didn't deserve my rank. You suggested that I work on earning my title. In other words, according to you, I don't deserve my rank and I still need to earn my title. So in other words, I have managed to get promoted without deserving my rank and without earning it. So, yes, you are saying that in New York, we manage to get promoted without deserving it or earning it.

Report Post Tip

I'm quite good friends with a lot of New Yorkers and i know they have fully earned their rank, and my family line being a Don Leader in NY, knows he had to earn his rank.

Can someone like yourself at one time earn his rank? Then forget his place, and how to be respectful? I'd certainly say so, just because you hold the tittle now doesn't mean you still deserve it, im sure at one time your father was quite respectful and knew how to carry himself.

Seeing as you came to the street for no reason to try to belittle and aruge with another button man, i'd say you carry yourself like a child.
