Building a Team for a Chicago Art Job Started by: Tamsyn on Jul 24, '19 14:19

Big dreams required big cash and while playing high dollar call girl and thief had kept her in a steady supply of fine clothing and food; she wasn't getting rich anytime soon nor was she making DeanWinchester- sit up and take notice of her tributes.

If she ever wanted to 'be someone' on these shores she was going to have to roll the dice and go out on a limb and do a job that was going to bring in REAL money.

So, after a chance meeting with the widow Mrs. Agatha Miller discussing art over one too many glasses of wine, Tamsyn finally had her first truly brilliant idea for a heist.  She'd make cash on the front end with a team and then make more on the back end per her more traditional ways which was going to make all of this nothing short of brilliant.

What she needed now was a solid team.

Tamsyn put out the word, ideally, she was looking for:

  1. Muscle who wasn't afraid to get hands really messy
  2. A face man or woman - a true confidence person
  3. Forger.  Someone who could take a priceless item and duplicate it well
  4. A driver with nerves of steel just in case
  5. Safecracker with mad skills.
  6. A fence to sell the item on the black market QUIETLY when the job was done

She was hanging out in a dinner on 27th Avenue during lunches all this week, waiting to see if anyone got her message and was looking for work.

I was just wasting away to nothing and wound up in the same place, and saw someone familiar, yet sorta new to me.... what was her name again? T something, I thought to myself, of course, you never want to embarrass yourself, to admit you forgot someone in your own crew's name. To be fair, this was all new to me, and I haven't had all that much experience... maybe, I um drank a little too much last night? Anyways, it seemed like she was waiting for someone or more than one someone. (I smiled, and waved to acknowledge her) I really would like to sit with her, but that is sorta rude if the seats planned.

Tamsyn hadn't invited anyone specific to join her so seeing Orchid she had to smile.  Maybe this woman was interested in joining the team?  She hoped so.  She gave her a wave back.

"Orchid, right?  How are you today?  You look aces!  Honestly.  You looking for a place to sit?  I mean I don't want to interrupt if you're waiting on someone but if ... um... you know, you want to join me here, I'd be happy to chat with you.  In fact, I'm um... here planning something for work.  You're welcome to hear my pitch if you got time?"

Sure, whynot, I am just hungry, and just came for lunch, and didn't want to interrupt you either...

Tamsyn waved over the waitress and ordered a burger for herself and whatever Orchid wanted.  When the woman was out of earshot, Tamsyn began her story.

"So I sometimes splurge.  After a big job, when I have extra cash, I sometimes go to fancy places and indulge myself.  After I took this cowboy for everything he had one night, I went out and bought myself this really swell imitation handbag and went to a real high dollar place for lunch.  I was about three glasses of wine in when this snooty bitch comes and sits beside me.  Well, we get to talking about her art collection."

Tamsyn shook her head.  "And her 'good eye' like for instance she could DEFINITELY tell my bag was a cheap fake a mile away.  Ha ha... right?  Well, the stupid bitch tells me all about her prized Monet she's got in her vault on her estate just on the edge of town and how rare it is and how she's so sure it's going to fetch a ton at auction next month.  Of course, the insurance guy will tell her how much it's value really is... but you know how it is."

She rolled her eyes.

"And then it occurs to me... what if that bitch's eyes aren't so good as she thinks?  Could she REALLY tell if a Monet was fake... say if someone lifted it to sell on the black market and replaced it with a fake... would she notice?"

Tamsyn smirked.

"So... I thought, why not put it to the test?  Of course, I'm gonna need a team.  Muscle, a good confidence person, a brilliant forger, a driver to get us out of dodge when the job is done, a safe-cracker who can get us into the vault and a damn good fence..."

The food came to the table and Tamsyn went silent until the waitress left again.

"Question is... do you think you could help out with any of those.  You'd get a square cut of the profits on the sale of the painting, of course.  Everyone equal on this job."

Working as a seller of good gained through ill means, the saying went that if they knew your name, you were doing it wrong. So when the call went out for a top quality fence, Philli left a note. He watched from the corner as the waitress delivered it to Tamsyn.

"Miss Tamsyn. Word has reached me that you need a fence. When you have your merchandise, send a message to me care of Sarabella, and I will see to it that you gain the most possible income from the movement of material. My fee is 10% of your take from the sale. Do not attempt to identify me, I remain in the shadows at all times.

The Market Merchant"

Tamsyn smiled at the letter from The Market Merchant.  Of course, the person working in this field would do so through a third party so it was no shock that she'd need to reach out to Sarabella though she did not know this person just yet.

"Well,"  She said looking at the note, "that takes care of a fence I suppose."

She smiled at Orchid waiting to see if she had a response to her questions, wondering if anyone else was going to join them.

Grinning at my friend Tam...I think she would be none the wiser. A real Monet, goes for a real pretty coin, and if they don't pay well enough, well you know...I would sure love to test my skills. I am in on this too.

LillisMolly was heel of a safe-cracker, he let his skills talk about itself on the Top-25 safe cracking skill list in this world, he was number nine at the moment and as in his age it was pretty good if he could say so himself so perhaps this job was for him, he didn't know but surely hoped so since he really needed the money a great art gallery robbery could give out.
