| Pocket Picking & stick up crews | Started by: Francis_Kuklinski on Jan 18, '11 13:36 |

So.. I was thinking. Some brash Mafiosi is walking down the street carrying a large bag for his Boss – written all over him are the words EXTREMELY RICH. You skilfully pick his pocket and get a lowly $5,000. What gives? Sometimes he sees you, sometimes he doesn’t.
Now., let’s imagine that the pickpocket got a tip; that the man would be carrying some serious money, he stalks him, waits for it, pick his pocket and empties it – this is no $5,000, this is a a suitcase with $1M + in it.. Then decisions have to be made. Does the pickpocket keep the cash? If the victim sees him do it, does he shoot him? Would pick pocketing be seen as harmless?
What I’m saying is – should pick-pocketing be overhauled – bigger stakes, bigger prizes.
Stick up crews have been around as long as the mob - what do you say? |

The idea of people having EXTREMELY RICH is the result of the sum of cash that person has inside and outside of the bank, as for people having 1mill plus outside the bank does not mean they are running around carrying the cash around in their pockets, the cash might be in a perfectly safe place in their head quarters placed in a safe or w/e...
I do agrea that 5k is a bit low but over 50k is too much... |

the limit should go up according to the amount of money you have on your hand then. |

Major dislike for this suggestion. I mean honestly, it's called Pickpocketing for a reason - it's not mugging (aka stealing someones suitcase like you mention). |

I think this is a good idea. It is ridiculous that low ranks walk about with millions and no bodyguards. Surely in reality it would be easy to grab the suitcase they are carrying it in. Surely then their bosses will learn not to trust so much money to a low rank |

The 5k limit was put in place so as to deter the Pick Pocket feature being seen as a huge hit to someone's pocket. It was done to discourage death due to Pick Pocket and bring it away from being viewed as an attack. It was done so more people would do it. |

I still say bring back mugging, would add that dimension back to the game. |

I agree with WarMonger. Mugging was a very good feature in the past and I feel it would be quite useful in the wars of today. An attack that resets someone's flight timer? Win. |

Of course Warmonger would say something related to violence. |

It was removed because people became anal about it and started shooting anyone that even tried to mug them. Thus, the "No Pickpocketing" was born. Quite frankly, I feel it's ridiculous. It's a mafia game. You shouldn't have a choice as to whether or not your money is stolen from you. |
