This is legit the second time I couldn't ignore this thread and I'm sad about it 

I mean... I understand the post content but that is the most click-bait title I've ever seen. But you do have a point about the hustle tasks. However, I'll try to reply as I think Izzy was thinking when he put those together: (Again, this is my rationale that I think he probably had and not something he said/typed/thought. Pure speculation)

On a text-based game, there are things that are expected. You occupy 1 of 2 roles or even both. You either Role-Play in the forums or engage with the community in the chats. Either way, these tasks are designed to make you interact with other players that are on the game.

Example: Tasks to pickpocket someone, tasks to send someone money, reply to a forum post, send messages in the chat, pay your taxes.

These are all examples (and most of the tasks that are actually received) that force your name to pop up on someone else's screen thus making your existence known to everyone else which in turn will engage with you. This, in turn, brings the community together and allows for a much more immersive gameplay.

But that's just my two cents.
