Friends, recently I have been wondering about history.  

Our history is rich, but mostly unrecorded anywhere.  Should we try to capture the names of crews and leaders?  And possibly eras?  Or wars?

My question to you is this:

How should our history be measured?

Wars?  Crews?  Cities?  Dynasties?

YOU TELL ME?

"Hi, my kin has only been here for 2 months, so I've only heard some good stories from my closest friends here. I'd love to hear some good stories from the old days, and get a better picture of how things have evolved over the years. How great wars arose and what the outcome was after the wars was over and just the history here in general"

The vast majority of our history is secret by its very nature. They say history is written by the victors, but it does mean that we often only have the words spoken by those who committed an act after the fact, and those are often taken with a grain of salt.

If you measure our history by wars, you find yourself wanting for any kind of certainty of what truly happened and why.

The real measure of this world is our people. If you want a good history of this thing of ours, record the notable Crew leaders. Godfathers who reigned long and successfully. Speakers who made the streets bright, and those who made people think or laugh(yourself included in this overall category. people who were known across the 7 cities simply for their ability to make connections.

Im not looking for any details or namedropping, just common knowledge for people who has been around here for a long time. 

Scottie- takes a long drag from his cigarette, absentmindedly rubbing his arm from the night before, as he is walking through the lovely streets of Chicago. He happens upon a speech by the young, but highly accomplished Louis_T, and after listening for a moment, reached the decision to insert his opinion.

While I understand the, ah, novelty of wanting a museum of some sort to honor our storied history, I feel that it is a terrible idea. Our entire way of life is based on Omerta. Silence and secrets should be our specialty. We can honor history, sure, but honor it silently when among friends. Smile, laugh, think of the good times that your ancestors told you about in their journals. But under no circumstance should anything ever become public knowledge, and it should never be immortalized in a place such as a museum.

He takes a pause and removes the depleted cigarette from his mouth, snuffing it beneath his freshly polished black boot.

Think of it this way friends. Heard of RICO? How much easier would it be if all anyone had to do was find the museum? How many of our friends would be locked away? Don't let pride and the need for your accomplishments to be immortalized come in the way of common sense.

Desiderio felt himself nodding as Scottie- finished speaking. He twirled his hat between his hands as he looked around at the faces gathered to listen in on the discussion. 

I'd argue that a museum of that nature would be a disgrace. Who are we to punish those around us that's kin have taken the time to amass such knowledge? History is a very valuable tool. When detailed journals are passed down into the hands of a capable mind, one can begin to see how thinge work in this thing of ours. Furthermore, gloating about the accomplishments of one reign to the next will bring forth nothing but paranoia and problems to the bloodlines of those written into the books in a harsh manner.

Desiderio picks up the watering can he had carried with him down the street before adding a few more words. 

I've yet to hear of an outfit around who didn't have a thing or two to say about what their members and associates shared with others. All of that being said.

The watering can spilt a bit as he shrugged his shoulders.

There are plenty of streets to get lost down around here with people telling tales of all that has happened. No one is being held back from taking the time to make the long walks into our history. 

Tommy is enjoying a nice cup of coffee and decides to add his two cents.

"Why the hell would they make a museum for criminals? Science I can see, actual history like dead presidents or even art. Who doesn't love staring at sculptures of naked women and men. But a museum about our thing are you fucking crazy? "

Tommy takes another sip of his coffee

"The things we do are best kept in the shadows. Ever hear about back in the day I'm talkin bout the Greeks and Romans probably even before them how'd they share their stories they passed that shit down from word of mouth. Homer and the Iliad  shit like that. People will remember the past as great stories. We don't need some big ol fancy building that exposes us to the rest of the world."

Tommy shuts up and continues enjoying his cup of coffee and reading the paper.
