| A Day in the Life of an Alley Cat | Started by: Thomas_OMalley on Aug 17, '19 00:00 |

The orange alley cat that was the animagus form of James Thomas O'Malley wandered his home streets of Seattle; cuddling random people to mark them for later, rubbing his chin along areas to claim them from other cats (and magical creatures), and even perching on benches beside seemingly innocent ladies to get the most appreciated of head pats. -This is the real scam- Thomas thought in his head as yet another lady was scratching under his chin and rubbing his belly. -All the free love and affection...- He purred more, even if it was almost as if the cat laughed. The day was going beauti-... Why was he in the air? Thomas flipped over and looked around, flailing his body around. The woman had picked him up. This was -not- the plan for the day. Though he was a cat, he was -no one's- pet! Focusing on what the woman was speaking about, he specifically heard "collar" and "home"... This wasn't good. It was claw time. Sweet O'Malley had to go for now. A flick of his paw had the sharpest of manicured claws extended and ready to strike. Thomas flailed around until he was able to swipe at his kidnapper's arm and caught her skin, shredding it nicely. A light crimson quickly rushed to the service where he'd attacked and the poor woman yelped and tossed him. Thomas landed on his feet and darted off quickly. The poor woman cursed a bit and held her hand as he turned and looked at her. A momentary feeling of guilt pained him, but he lowered his body in an almost bow before turning away and slipping into a bush and out of her sight. On the other side of the bush he came darting out of it and rushed headlong for the fence, dodging a dog chase by jumping and climbing up the fence to sit on it's edge. The dog, a small breed house pet, barked incessantly at the bottom of the fence post Thomas was near, and the cat hissed loudly, spitting and yoewling at the animal beneath him. The dog's owner, however, was having none of it and came running with a newspaper. Off Thomas took again with a loud scream... "REEEOOOOOWWWW!" and he was sprinting down the fence as the human yelled at him. It didn't take long for that situation to ease itself, but Thomas found himself panting and needing to find a nice drink of water. To many people around. The cat would need to remain his primary source of transportation. He hopped from the fence and landed, trotting along the pathway and weaving in and out of the crowd of human walkers along his route. Along his way he heard a familiar voice and slowed to see if he could make note of where she was... He noticed a Beau and followed along her path for a bit, happy to see her out and about in the city again. She was walking with her friend and informant Betty. Then he heard another voice, Kat. Their own boss. She was palling around with another fat cat of the city and Thomas figured it was his job to make sure she was okay. He curled around her legs and almost tripped her in the process. She cursed for a moment, but then looked down and saw the orange and white alley cat who's form she knew quite well. One little 'MEOW' and she scooped him up. "There you are my little fella! I wondered if I'd see you in the city today!" She smiled and continued talking to her friend like everything was normal. Thomas, on the other hand, got lazy and yawned as he curled up in her arms. Kat's hand continually stroked along his back and had him purring in no time. However, as nice as it was, it was short-lived. She and her friend turned to enter a building and she sat the cat down. "Now little J. You can't come inside, so I'll see you again, yeah?" She scratched under Thomas' chin and he meowed in protest but turned to walk away down the sidewalk. He'd find an alley way and a dumpster. Dumpsters made for better portals than most could ever imagine, and portals meant home. Unfortunately, the thought was interrupted by the net that slammed over Thomas' body... Drat, the animal control had snagged him. This was no biggie though. He'd be taken to the shelter, and given food, water, and.... and shots. He shuttered. The shots were the worst. However, the ride in the truck would be okay... Right? Thomas didn't fight, there was no reason. Besides, he could really confuse the driver later if he -WANTED- to. Tossed in a cage, shielded from eyes of the other animals by a small sheet because his presence made the dogs go crazy, he laid down and slept like a typical lazy cat...
When he woke he didn't expect to be in the Order's HQ, but sure enough he was... He assumed Kat had noticed everything and stopped it before he was transported to the pound and euthanized... If that's what they deemed best for such a stray as himself. Shaking off his cat form, he stretched and licked his lips. He'd owe her for that save... Not that he didn't already owe her pretty much everything. Regardless, it was good to be a human again. "Welp... Back to work." He chuckled and headed toward his office. Little did he know Kat had nothing to do with it, and there were higher powers paying attention to one Mr. J. Thomas O'Malley... |
