A Game of Chance (Only the brave need apply) Started by: Garou on Aug 19, '19 12:37

Garou had been busy but he always seeked an opportunity to generate a means to make extra wealth. Well, it was either the desire to come up with the next 'get rich' scheme or a need to see people bang their head on the table as they screamed about how unlucky they were. The streets were active, many writers walking through the blossoming parks, penning down stories about the adventures of their friends and/or ancestors whilst AvardT followed them around in secret, taking notes and being the first to summarise these journals they wrote.

Business was on the up, whether people wanted to admit it or not. However, Garou wanted to propose something different. Today, there would be no stories, just a game. He had always enjoyed the element of chance, luck as some would call it, so why not bring something slightly different to the masses.

With a crowd already in place handling their daily duties, he stepped forward, fixing his tie, then began to speak.

"One and all, allow me to welcome you.

We already have the writers focusing on their corner of preferance, so what you see here today is more of a 'game'. A game for those brave enough to step up and take their shot at earning a bit of easy cash outside of the casino megastructures."

Nodding to his left, one of his men walked forward, a heavy looking briefcase in hand, as he placed it down onto the table in front of Garou. With a few quick clicks, the lid of the case was opened and it was swiftly spun towards the onlookers, revealing a collection of finely pressed bank notes.

"I present a case of notes to the value of 250 thousand dollars. Now, you all stand the chance to win this money but only if you are willing to take the risk."

He smiled as he looked down. A brief grin being worn on his face.

So, I know what you are all waiting for, the rules to this game right? It's simple, easy enough for anyone to get involved in and take their shot as a quick and easy collection of this money. All that is required is that you notify me about your willingness to have an attempt at winning. Once this is done, we then begin.

With a clap, his burly bodyguard turned and pulled down a small curtain that was hiding a large display panel, revealing the full details for all to see.

Should you take part and win in a dice roll against me, you walk away with the easy $250,000 cash. Simple right?

A man could be seen at the back, scratching his balding head as he tried to figure out whether this was good for him or not, before yelling out "What if we lose Garou!"

"Ah, we have a genius in the crowd! I am glad you asked that. What would a game of chance be without risk no?

Well, for those who may not be so fortunate, your soul is mine will be required for make two individual payments for the loss. The cost of such a loss? A nice sum to the figure of $150,000. Of this money, $75k will be paid directly to me with the other $75k going to a charity of your choosing. Which charity I here you ask? Well allow me to enlighten you in regards to that too.

I present to you the charities on offer and their founders to whom the $75k donation will be made."

He turned and raised his hand towards the large panel, guiding the eyes of the growing crowd towards the poster.

Garou took his seat once more as he looked around at the crowd discussing the game amongst themselves, a look of intrigue on their faces.

Gunnar was walking the streets when he spotted a dark clad, rather ominous man offering a game of dice on one corner. He looked like no man to be betting against, or one to make deals with either.
"Ah, fuck it, why not? Oy, I'll play 'yer game boyo"
And simple as that, the dice were rolled. Gunnar stared the dark man in his eyes, watching his mouth turn into a snarl.

"Ah, seems lady luck be on me side today. All the same though" Gunnar placed his hand over one half of the briefcase and overturned it, dumping half of the notes onto the table "I'd like if 125 thousand were donated to The writers of tomorrow"

He had no real reason for donating other than the lack of need for cash and being an avid supporter of levey and his charity.
"I'm sure I'll be seeing you again, lad."

As soon as he had placed the large cases of money on the table, the keen and brave quickly started to reveal themselves. Whilst many stood around talking amongst themselves, a clear challenger brushed through the crowd, full of charisma and self confidence. As Garou looked at the man, he knew this one meant business.

"Ah, AvardT! It doesn't surprise me at all that you would be the first to step forward and take on my game."

Having set up his own Golf Empire, which was booming as expected, along with his softer side of being a very thorough reader of the latest mafia journals, AvardT still oozed a very strong presence of masculinity. For the people who he had nudged past, they didn't even bother to say a word to him, knowing that at any minute he may turn around and challenge them to a mano e mano esque duel. Upon reaching the table, he cut straight to business and picked up the dice without hesistation. Catching them and then slamming them down, Garou smiled as he looked and saw the numbers. Within mere moments, the 'Game of Chance' has declared its very first winner and just like that, AvardT picked up one of the cases and strolled off $250,000 richer.

"There you have it folks, the brave claim the riches whilst the fearful stand around and watch!"

Another competitor saw this as an opportunity to cash in and cracking his neck on either side before doing a few mid air shadow punches, he stepped forward in a few brisk hops and walked towards the front.

"Well, well, well, if it isn't the bare-knuckle traveller himself, Gunnar_Everett."

He seemed adamant to give the challenge a go and test his luck. Holding the dice in his closed hand, he gently blew through the small hole made by his fingers, some form of personal luck generator apparently, before slamming them down onto the table. Garou couldn't believe his luck, another winner so quickly. As Gunnar smiled and said something in a thick strong accent, Garou nodded as one of his bodyguards lifted a filled briefcase and handed over another $250,000 cash.

Apparently Gunnar_Everett had been given some sort of vision of destiny from a fortune teller or something cause almost immediately, he decided to have a second attempt. The thing with fortune tellers these days though, they are often full of shit. Gunnar slammed the dice down, Garou shaking his head as the victory did not go the way of Mr Everett. Taking back $75k from the winners (although still leaving the challenger up on his net value), he handed the money behind him to his personal accountant before asking Gunnar to announce which charity he would be selecting for the remaining $75k donation.

"Ah, it seems it's time for our first official charity donation. Whom would you like to see receive these funds and why?" he asked Gunnar.

Avard hadn't decided yet what he was going to spend Garou's $250,000 on. Part of him thought he should give it to Don Eve of Eve's Eve Crew as a reward for all her hard work in furnishing the family HQ. Part of him thought he should give it to Taradiddle_ to pass on to the boys at the FBN so he could finally push enough product to get his mum her medicinal marijuana. And another, much larger part, thought he should spent it on hookers and blow. Without having made a final decision, he met up with his good friends Marlowe and Aomame to determine next steps.

"Wow," Aomame said, her raven hair hanging loosely around her shoulders. "That's more money than this family has seen in generations. How did you get it?"

Avard smiled. "It was nothing, really. Garou put the word out that he was backing a game of chance-"

"HOLD ON. You met Don Garou? The Don Garou?"

"Yes, Marlowe, the Don Garou," Avard said with a sideways glance at the Eve crew Underboss. He was always getting starstruck by powerful men. "So I was play-"

"He's so dreamy." Marlowe blurted out, his eyes gleaming with merriment, but primarily unadulterated lust. Aomame nodded in agreement and made an unsettling, tchsk'ing sound, smacking her lips.

"Yes, quite. So as I was saying, we played dice and if you won you got his $250,000 but if you lost you had to make a donation to a charity..."

"That is so Don Garou, always thinking about other people."

"Yes, he's wonderful, Marlowe. Ok? Do you want me to tell you this story?"

"Sorry, go on." Marlowe said, looking sheepish. Avard's shook his head before reluctantly continuing.

"As I was saying, we played dice and I, being a fucking champ, rolled a colossal 767 and you'll never guess was Garou threw..."

"69?"

Avard frowned at Aomame.

"10....out of 10?" Added Marlowe with a faraway look in his eyes.

"You know what, fuck you guys. Play your own game of dice with him." Said Avard, throwing up his arms in despair and stomping away.

"Wait! Avard!" Marlowe yelled at Avard's quickly retreating back. "Do you think I could play with him?" He said, giggling away, with Aomame yakking it up like candy. Avard didn't break stride, wondering again why he hadn't just gone straight to the clubhouse and buried his head in powder.

As AvardT stormed off, Aomame watched as Marlowe took a picture out of his wallet and stared at it…subconsciously mouthing wow as he drooled at the apparently smouldering good looks of Garou.

“Marlowe……Marlowe……Marlowe……”

Snapping back into the present Marlowe glanced up.

“Marlowe, you’ve just let AvardT walk away with a cool donation for Don Eve of Eve’s Eve Crew, that could have been used for her never-to-be-missed Marlowe flex.”

Marlowe’s hand holding the picture dropped to his side.

“I can’t help it Aomame, if it was anyone else…even Taradiddle_ I’d pay more attention but in my head, all I can think is oooooh Don Garou.  Just the way it rhymes and rolls off the tongue.  Ga Rou, the sexiest two syllables in the seven cities.”

“Yes he’s the cat’s pyjamas, I get that, but you’re obsessed.  Maybe Taradiddle_ knows a good psychiatrist to help with your obsession.”

Garou, ahh and ooh.
There were little more words that buzzed around Don Eve's Don Eve's crew Eve's Headquarters today.
But when AvardT mentioned gambling, Taradiddle_ started overhearing the talk between him and Aomame.

Dice? Psychotherapists? Obsessions?

Taradiddle_ became enthousiastic and asked Marlowe for directions to Garou's game location.
The description Marlowe was very, very precise. And maybe there was a little much detailed mentioned on aestethics of the person Taradiddle_ was trying to reach..

It didn't take long for him to get ready, and Marlowe's instructions had been clear enough to find the place.

So here I am, Garou!

All ready to gamble to become rich for charity.

Garou could feel his ears burning as he stood in front of the crowd awaiting the next brave contender to step forward. In an instant, he witnessed a spectacle of pure beauty as a flying squirrel soared through the sky, its cape type body looking glorious as the crowd stood in awe watching it glide over them towards the large case of money infront of Garou.

Plodding down on the table, it took the dice in its mouth before promply rolling them around its cheeks, trying to almost find a home for them, perhaps something to digest on later. Of course, these dice were created from a material that would never serve as a good food substance and in a few brief moments, the dice were once again spewed out. "Would you fucking believe it" Garou said as he looked on in astonishment. "I lost again".

Upon closer inspection, he witnessed that the squirrel wore a small tag, 'Taradiddle_' was its name apparently. As it jumped around on the table, seemingly extremely content with it's victory, the tag then began to spin with the motion. The rear of the tag, displaying where this strange gambling type mob-squirrel was from. 'Property of Eve from Eve's Eve crew' was engraved on the back of the metallic name plate.

With a smile, he raised his hands and began to clap. "Ladies and Gentlemen, please put your hands together and congratulate my little friend here. Just like the others who have come before him, he has managed to beat the game and will now walk away $250,000 richer! Perhaps he will choose to use this funding to help instead the size of his pouches to enable him to move around more units but that decision is for him and him alone!"

"I look forward to the next brave soul willing to step up and test their luck in the Game of Chance!"
