We have the cast of Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Star Wars, Game of Thrones, marvel comic book characters, supernaturals, American TV game shows, rock crushing equipment, Sci-Fi action movies and more interesting characters from the future. 

Are there history books around?

Pretty sure there are other, more important things to bitch about other than the choice of names people make. Not everyone is going to be a Luciano or a Ligambi. There are only so many names that are historical. Also, as far as you know there could have been someone named Sam or Dean Winchester back in the 30s... Just because you related them to video games, objects, TV/movies, etc doesn't mean others do or that those names may not have existed in the 30s.

People have bitched about names more times than I can count in the past and nothing's changed, so why bitch now?

I mean, really, USMCA isn't very 1930's now is it? You totally should have gone for something that's been used by countless others before you because it sounds like it came from the 30s.

Then again, I'm about as apathetic about the game right now as I can get, shit, look at my name. (Insert sarcastic giggle here.)

Move on, find something else to bitch about, beat another dead horse, change your own name, and don't forget to have a nice day.

SomethingSomething seems to have missed the mark. I don't see it as bitching. I see it as funny. Who can take leaders seriously with these names and crew names? It's funny as all get out.

Plenty of people take them seriously, far more than have ever taken you seriously. 

Yet you girls still seem to have this misplaced sense of superiority. It's incredulous. 

I've said it before, I'll say it again, MR is less like the historical real-world 1930s and more like 'who framed roger rabbit' with regular people walking around in the same world as (but not limited to): cartoon characters, vampires, aliens, beach volleyballs, talking sponges, talking animals of all kinds, etc. etc. etc.

Not everyone is into the RP side of things and many people choose an account name based on what interests them.  There's nothing wrong with being a fan of something or being so uninspired on a day you lost your last character that you literally take the name of the thing sitting next to you on a table to get your account name.  

Even those of us who choose to pick a name that might be historically appropriate, sometimes choose to use or reuse the names - again - this isn't just folks you see writing in the stories in the streets.  Sometimes people pick (or repick) a name because it means something to them or because they've been that name around the site for so long (or some variation of it) that this name is their identity to the other users around here.  After all, I think there are at least a couple of people who immediately spring to mind who don't write (or do so very little) who if I said their name you'd immediately know who I was talking about.

Just try to remember, it's a game.  It's not a classroom giving a history lesson.  You're not here to educate the world on prohibition-era United States life or the historical facts about Gangsters... this is a browser-based game on the internet.  Just roll your eyes if you feel the need, take a breath and smile because there are a million other things in the world that matter so much more than what someone chooses to name their account this particular run.
