The Family Matters Started by: Charlie__Pavanno on Aug 23, '19 20:09

Charlie walked the Philly streets with a calming aura around him, his eyes held warmth, but also cautiousness. He always had to be like this, being a mobster while having its perks, was not always the best when it came to a long filled life with family and parties, no it was a more 24/7 Job.

He walked into a park, he noticed that many parents were with their kids, enjoying the spare time that they had as a family, something that Charlie wished he could have done with his, yet that was never to, with a bitter chuckle, he sat down on a bench, still watching the family with sad eyes, before turning away, as he suddenly found the ground more interesting than the private scene in front of him.

He looked around, leaning back into the bench, he knew that in terms of comfort it was not better than his leather chair, but he was not sitting on it for comfort, it reminded him of the hardships that other people went through to get stuff as he had, stuff that they had to break their backs for.

"How much do I take for granted, its pretty sad now that I think about it. They break their backs working for a little extra, while I cut corners and make money a much more profitable way. Some people have the stomach for this, others? Well, others don't and work 7 to 12, with no chance of seeing their families..."

He sighed, before shaking his head, not wanting those thoughts to get into his head before he sprouted wings and wanted to be as saintly as an angel.

He closed his eyes as if waiting for something, but it never came and so he kept them closed, almost as if wishing that he could live like the honorable people for a day, to see what it was like from their eyes.

Charlie stood from his seat now, no more time for moping around. He stepped into his car and drove to the family compound, he knew that someone had to be there, among Luis_Patangeli, KennyRusso, Sadness, Helix, AleksTomson. Someone had to be there and ready to talk some business.

"And here we are, let's get this done...maybe the Baron will be there, and possibly give us some much-needed business to talk with his drug game getting started soon."

Charlie nodded, stepping out from his 1930s Mercedes-Benz 770. He entered the Patangeli Inc family compound without another word, stepping over to the liquor cabinet and pouring himself a glass....he now noticed how quiet it was, where the fuck was everybody?

“What, I am invisible now?”

It was the funniest thing to even suggest that. You couldn’t miss me even if you wanted. And for that I’ll of course blame Frankie and his ravishing Italian food for making me the fat fuck that I am today.

That and the fact I am and I was a lazy guy for as far as I can remember. Literally. I´d give my entire salary to someone else just to make sure I didn’t do the hard work.  Looking back that maybe justifies why I ended up choosing this lifestyle, but hey, that’s another story.

I don’t know how many years later here I was, the same personality, but a completely differant bank account. Hey kid, bring me this. Another 5 dollars on his pockets. Paulie? Go get me that other thing. Cashing, another 10 dollars. And that’s how the days went by.

It was only when Mr. Patangeli suggested that I needed to do this organized crime job with his bull dogs that I was forced to make a decision. Because I knew better than anyone else how unfit I was for that job and then in consequence either I’d get killed by whoever I was trying to rob, or worse, by my own guys who’d very much certainly get fed up of me and find a way to bury me alive and have no one else noticing.

If there was a thing in life I dind’t want, one of the things was that. So in order to being left alone in my corner I ended up setting up a loan shark scheme for the boss. Not long after, a few gambling rackets gained life. But hey, we’ll get there, let me go one step at a time alright?

Anyway, now back to Charlie and the family compound.

“I don’t know what you guys are cooking for tonight but don’t count on me. I got to head to Devil’s Pocket and drop some money to this guy. I want this to be the first of many loans we’re handing in this city. As a matter of fact I want to put so much money out there in the streets that the bank managers come to us and ask us how to manage their own business. Know what I mean? So now we have one mission at hands. To spread the word. To advertise this. And then we get ready for what’s coming our way. So if I was you pal, I’d get my beauty sleep in order, cos soon enough we’ll be hopefully  counting money 24/7”

Charlie turned around, his drink of scotch lazily resting in the palm of his hand as he snorted to himself in some amusement. The Baron himself had arrived, he stepped forward, patting the man on the back as he thought about the business that would be put on the table today. It was going to be quite interesting in the next couple of days as he did not need to handle any more business for right now.

"Mate, I just didn't see ya before, I'm a little hazy due to some things. Don't worry, we'll get all of this sorted. We just got to have the others here, see what they have, I'm free for anything and I have no clue who the heck is cooking tonight."

Charlie sipped his scotch, stepping round to sit on a single leather chair as he crossed his leg over the other, leaning back with a calm sigh. He looked at the Baron and realized that some things would need to be discussed, he had some business that Charlie wanted to get in on but it had to wait, he repeated to himself in his thoughts.

"Look at you, never stopping the grind and you just keep going like there's no tomorrow. It's impressive and I'm seeing something in you, Baron, you remind me of someone. Then again, he was also a grinder and continued working the game that he knew. It's pretty good to see that someone like you is doing the same."

Charlie gulped down his scotch, leaving it to rest on the table for now and he wondered where the rest of the guys were....it was rare that he actually saw them on occasion, they all had business in so many places that they were stretched all over the place and with the recent income of drugs, cash, and casinos opening up. Less time was spent with the family as a whole.

"Tell me, Baron, you know where these other guys are? Like shit...I would expect the bossman to be here but I guess the business is first, maybe they'll show up, who knows at this point. Do tell me though, what do you have planned for your business? We can catch the others up later."

Charlie fished out a cigarette from his pocket and set it alight, inhaling and exhaling as if it was the one thing that he could count on. He looked back at his current companion with squinted eyes, he leaned forward, showing his curiosity.
