| Shorter JB timer for credit spender? | Started by: Tom_Doogle on Jan 25, '11 01:47 |

I was just curious what the public's opinion was on this. Sometimes it seems as if the person who purchases a credit and spends it on a crackdown doesn't get their money's worth (whether its from RL money or they earned it via MR money). We all know w/ the amount of players we have that sometimes when you initiate a lockdown, you get 1 crack at the staffers and by the time your 20 seconds is up, they may all be gone on your 2nd go-around.
I know it's a part of the game, i was just curious what kind of opinions were out there when it comes to the idea of maybe cutting the "Crackdown'er" 's JB time to, say 10 seconds? |

I must not agree with you. Its just like life. You don't get a get out of jail 10 seconds earlier card. Just look at billy bob. He don't have no cash and he isn't a good money maker. And he wants to make his character better. |

true but I wouldn't oppose those initiating a crackdown having some sort of advantage in the JB process. I mean, after all, they paid for it |

Ah Tom. As was pointed out to me in IRC I see what you are meaning now. Then I must change my opinion. I'd agree with the idea as it would be fair for those who helped towards the CD itself.

Yea sorry, I guess I worded it a little odd. I didn't want to seem so selfish.

I disagree entirely. The mafia isn't about 'fair', if you want to spend your credit jailing at a time when people are going to jump on the jail then that's your lookout. I can see the reasoning behind it; but what next? MIAs will only be shootable by the spawner for the first 15 minutes? |

Don't we already do that though Branston? Only those who spawn the IA are "allowed" to shoot according to city rules - doing otherwise could cost you your life.
What makes the game interesting is the people role playing and getting into their characters, not leeching from donating members.
You can also pull the card you played about the mafia not being fair with just about any and everything in the game; i think that's a weak arguement. |

Just because you 'donate' to the game doesnt mean you deserve any advantage over someone who doesnt donate to the game

Maybe to a degree but when you donate you help the game out and normally in business when you help someone out they help you out |

As of now, when you launch a jail you get Jail Sorting enabled for an hour (high rankers at the top, low at the bottom) |

I like the added perk squishy.
falcon, it doesn't in your mind but it makes perfect business sense to me. Of course the word "Donate" throws it a little off, but if you were in fact "Purchasing" credits instead, then yes the ones who financially support the game should get some sort of minor advantage. |

no, they shouldnt. you can play this game for free and no one who donates RL money to it should have any advantage. by your logic, those who cant donate shouldnt get the same rewards and thats utter shit. |

Why? because they have money to burn? Don't get me wrong. You wanna buy credits. There is plenty of perks already for those that do.
The way things are suggested. Peer pressure will force the game into the realms of paid games. |

Look, I'm not getting condescending so I'd appreciate the same in return. There is a suggestion forum for a reason - this is my suggestion. Yes, it is a free game and should continue to be. But it takes money to run servers, it takes money to pay for electricty and backup drives and cold sites and hosting and the domain name. Luckily, there are still folks willing to Donate for the sake of donating. But to be complacent is a mistake. If each and every Donater became sick of having his JBs sucked dry, he'll stop buying as many credits because he's not gettnig the full benefit or his credit purchase.
If the general consesus agrees, then maybe it's something that should be looked at. If not, obviously the game suits the masses just fine. Processes do not get improved without suggestions, and I think my opinion is a logical one. |
