Las Vegas Press Syndicate is willing to provide weekly news at your fingertips. Grab your own copy of this week's issue at your local newspaper office!

Letter from the editorial board:

Hello readers. We hope that you’ve all been doing well since the release of our first weekly issue. We’ve returned!

There's some good news and some bad news we would like to bring to your attention. The bad news is, we are extremely tired after that first week of running wild around the office. We were anxious to see your reactions.

The good and fabulous news is, we received amazing feedback and a tremendous amount of generous tips that totalled up to almost eight million. Some of us here at the LVPS were confused, others shocked and maybe a little overwhelmed. Whether you only skimmed through it or if you read every single word, we owe all our success to you guys because we truly would not be here again without the support.

And with all that being said, we’re absolutely-fucking-delighted to present to you the second weekly issue of Las Vegas Press Syndicate. Enjoy! And don’t forget our mailbox is open for constructive criticism.

Massive thank you to last week’s generous tippers:

Thank you to our anon tippers as well! We adore you.

LOCAL NEWS
In which we discuss recent events!

A top notch announcement.

Just last week on the 26th of August, Boss Aristocrat officially announced his retirement from the mafia life via a letter that was sent out to all crew leaders. The significance of his retirement stems from the fact that he was not just a well-spoken gentleman with a future that seemed to be very promising, he was also one of the successful candidates of the Soapbox City contest which was led by Don Wayne. Once the results were released, Boss Aristocrat was given the opportunity to lead The Loop in Chicago. From there, his family name came to life: Top Notch Oddities.

Shortly after his announcement, New York's Godfather-Chairman Petah disclosed a protection order for all tagged members of Top Notch Oddities. This ended on Monday, Sept 2nd at 23:30.

It's not always easy to witness a sudden retirement of a leader especially when he/she has a group of people that depend on them. It is difficult to comprehend, but in Aristocrat's case, it was a necessary decision for the situation he had found himself in. Furthermore, in his letter he had exclusively addressed the two reasons that had been weighing on his mind. With a "heavy heart", he briefly touched on 1) his level of interest to continue his journey in this thing of ours and 2) other worldly problems not associated with the life of crime, that seemed to be bringing him down. There is no telling in when he'll be returning to these shores, but he expressed that one day, whenever that 'one day' is - he will be back again.

Boss Aristocrat was a breath of fresh air to this world. From his own words of his speech, he was "an unknown" and a "long shot". And he revealed that he was someone who didn't have much experience in running a family prior. Although looking back, people may agree that his humble claims made his attempt at leadership all the more exciting. His closing statement in his heartwarming speech read:

Chicago can be that for us--loyalty, love, life. We can bring all of that to a city that is in such dire need of it right now. Help me make that a reality. Thank you.

Needless to say, it is sad to see a man like him go but we can only wish him the best for the future. Our hearts go to those who were and are still deeply affected by his withdrawal from this life many of us live.

FBN draws attention.

The Federal Bureau of Narcotics made an alarming claim last week that one of their agents was attacked by a nefarious individual. Reminder for all of you to stay alert as more incidents like these may come up again.

Recent durden spawns

Not just one durden spawn, but TWO durden spawns graced these shores recently. Innocent civilians scrambled to get away as they feared for their life. Evil durdens not capable of a sound mind invaded street corners, hidden alleyways and abandoned buildings. Luck was on the people's side though. Many bodies were slaughtered and disposed. One man reportedly almost swallowed a bullet as a durden tried to strike back. Our sources say that he's currently admitted in a medical center awaiting further treatment to his minor injuries.

While these durden spawns do unfortunately cause a great amount of bloodshed, needless to say it does provide valuable training for the shooters in this community. Massive shout out to Philadelphia for the recent 'Philly' spawn! As well as OuttaDaBlue from Brooklyn, NY! To say a word of thanks by starting a durden spawn is quite epic. We thank YOU!

NEW AUTHS
Families of the future!

The streets have been quiet in regards to any recent auth announcements! However we continue to wish great success for all the current leaders of today.

COMMUNITY TALK
Giving people the chance to be heard.

Inclusion is something we strive for here at LVPS. Regardless of your race, gender, skills, or rank, we believe that all people should have the right to be appreciated as valuable members in this thing of ours. And that is why we have a diverse group of potential interviewees from which we randomly select one person to chat with. Today we were able to speak with Don Wayne. Let’s see what he has to say!

Wayne has been in leadership for a while now - longer than most. So to start off the interview, we asked him to tell us what he attributes his success to. His answer warmed out hearts and we hope that it has the same effect on you too. Here is what he gave us:

"I have had no success. I'm just the guy with the big bold name, the true success is that of the people around me. Everything we have built is their work, not mine, and it is to them I attribute our success."

A bold response! And a humble man, indeed. As we started to get more in depth, one of the members here at LVPS began to feel curious about what he looks for in a member before handing them a promotion.

"Well that is a deep question. I could probably talk about it for longer than is necessary, but the short and sweet version is interaction. I'm a very interactive leader and I try to speak to anyone I see online from my family, and city if I can. Generally if they are receptive we form a bond, and from there it is much easier to discern if they are made man material."

Well Wayne, we certainly can tell that you're a very comunicative leader just by looking at your street presence alone.

Next, we decided to dive into what some of his day to day responsibilities are as a crew leader and future godfather. Check out what he had to say about it:

"Generally my number one priority is getting to know the people within the city. I send out mails to the ones I've yet to speak to whenever I see them around. I try to make myself known and make it clear that they are always welcome to come for a chat."

Then we asked him - will there ever come a point where you can say you've done enough and head back to the old country? His response was nothing short of honest.

"That's the dream isn't it? To retire from this life and live out your days back home. I'd much rather it be that way than a bullet in my back. I can only hope and pray that someday Las Vegas is strong enough to make retirement a possibility."

Finally, to wrap up the interview - we finished with a less serious and more playful question. How do you maintain your transcendent beauty?

"It takes no maintenance, I wake up like this every morning. Fucking gorgeous."

Whew. All the ladies are swooning. Alessandra Korkunova being one of them.

Hope you enjoyed the interview, folks. Because we certainly did! As busy as he is, he still made the time to come chat with us and that's something we'll never forget. We thank Wayne, again, for your time.

Watch out for next week's issue and see who we interview next!

ASK ALLY
Where I, Alessandra Korkunova, try to give helpful advice.

The first submisson was from Consigliere CLO of Brooklyn, NY. His question didn't seem to be one that was seeking advice, but a question that seemed to seek clarity. Here is what he had to ask:

Curious about what has been happening recently?

To provide some context, he had also wrote to me his concerns about how I may not be accurate in covering EVERYTHING that has been happening recently. I am definitely aware that I didn't mention the whole incident involving Garou & Awakened in the first issue, which was indeed published a few days after Garou's tragic demise. I truly apologize for not having included it.

Starting a newspaper is definitely out of my comfort zone. There is always room for improvement, right?

Thanks CLO for the Ask Ally submission! I hope you're doing well.

The second submission was from Don Aegor of Paradise, LV. I was truly amused by his unexpected question but it sure did make me ponder about my abilities in the kitchen.

What's a good recipe for tortellini soup?

Admittedly, I spend more time thinking about what kind of pencil skirts I should get as well as fantasizing about getting stabbed. So - instead of giving advice on tortellini soup, which I have no experience with at all, I decided to get out an old recipe book my mother used to use all the time. After an hour of just flicking through countless recipies, I decided that the best recipe I could suggest is the tortellini soup with italian sausage and spinach. Seeing as people are all about efficiency nowadays - this recipe is super simple and yummy to make. You can make the soup all in one pot!

  1. Cook the Italian Sausage. In a large soup pot, heat some a small amount of olive oil. Saute some chopped onions and add them to the pot. Saute for a few minutes then add a pound of Italian Sausage and some minced garlic. I use mild but you could use spicy if your family likes that. Cook until the sausage is no longer pink.

  2. Make the soup base. Add a large can of crushed tomatoes, vegetable or chicken stock, fresh basil and a bit of salt. I like to add a pinch of sugar to combat the acidic tomatoes as well, but that’s a personal choice. Bring the soup to a boil, then cover and reduce the heat to low. Simmer for about 20-30 minutes.

  3. Cook the tortellini. Add tortellini to the pot and cook for a couple of minutes before adding the spinach. The pasta will cook fairly quickly, as will the spinach so don’t overcook and become mushy.

  4. Add spinach. Add the spinach during the last few minutes ot cooking time, then serve immediately. It does wilt rather quickly.

And if you're feeling a little adventurous, try topping it off with grated cheese or crispy croutons. I hope you enjoy this soup next time you make it, Aegor

GAMBLING CORNER
Keeping up with the addicts.

Dice. Dice. Dice. Dice will make you a rich bitch, or it can make you a sore loser. But some may agree with us that the best part about it is having fun and letting loose. Some of us here at the LVPS were able to catch up with a few people just as they were walking out of the casino. We asked them what was the first lesson they ever learnt about dice! Here are the responses we received:

Consigliere @AlfredBorden: That you need to learn how the pattern works."

there does seem to be a pattern or some kind of technique. or is it really just pure luck?

Don Force"Well the most important thing to me. Is its dice, never go all in. Yeah its gambling, but to be successful keep the bets regulated. I say max bet should be 1/3 to 1/2 of your pot.

But never all in. This is dice. Not poker.

Anything can happen."

^the dice vet knows what's up

Don Pyornkrachzark: "To stop before you start."

damn straight. i know it's not just me who learnt that lesson the hard way!

Wise Guy Dubliner"The first lesson I learnt about Dice specifically was not to Dice if you aren't feeling confident yourself. If you feel like you'll have bad luck, best thing to do is to stay away until you feel that confidence."

this is too true

Wise Guy Taradiddle_: "i'm like a box of chocolates and should never believe in the first lesson dice teaches me as they are too."

why did i literally lose all my brain cells by just reading your comment

Whew. That's it for this week, folks. Thanks to those who devoted their precious time in sharing with us their dice lessons!
