Treachery, Murder, Reprisal: Louis's Lament

MrLouisT left the following note, for publication following his death:

Louis was of course upset at the death of his father, a CL in Chicago, gunned down by a rogue.  That rogue was never found.  Wayne encouraged him to enter into this life, with a promise that Louis could set up my own outfit, in Chicago, just like his father did.  So, he published his newspapers, earned, kicked up cash, kept his nose clean and did what he was meant to do.

Soon enough, he asked about getting set up in Chicago.  Louis sent telegrams to Levey and Emily.  Neither responded.  He asked Wayne.  He got an answer.  A week later...  It said:

"Dear Louis

After conferring with the other godfathers, we have decided to decline your wishes to set up in Chicago as your father did.

It is the opinion of this office that you do not have the time, funds, or public support to effectively lead at this time. Furthermore, the two remaining soapbox leaders have formed an excellent bond and working relationship, and we feel thrusting you into the mix could create unrest and bring unwarranted negative press to the city.

It is our wishes to see the city thrive, and while we feel your father may have done well in that regard, we do not currently think the time is right for you.

We do hope you will continue to publish your paper, and I am still open to that interview.

Kind regards, Wayne, Acting GFC of Las Vegas"

Disappointed, Louis went back to his HQ and had a think about what to do.  Whilst there, he asked about becoming an inducted "Made" member of Brutus's crew.  One of Brutus's employees said "Have you donated? Been active? Asked if he needed anything? umm....I'm trying to think of everything...Done your shot report?...."

Other messages followed and none were encouraging.  Alone, frustrated, and running out of faith in the leading and guiding lights of this thing, Louis wondered what to do.  He got drink and headed to Chicago.

He noticed mobsters from Wayne's crew.  Like Louis, they were waiting to get their buttons.  He noticed two in particular: Koehler and 
Koehlette.  A couple?  Descendants to Rumrunner/Roadrunner?  Perhaps.  

But should he go back to reprisal?  Shouldn't he play by the rules?  Whose rules?  The rules of the CLs, who couldn't find the killers of his family?

No, fuck that.  Wayne needed to pay.  Wayne needed to learn and to understand that you don't waste Louis's time.  Louis was a descendent of Richard Kuklinski: Kuku.  Would Kuku have let such blatant disrespect go unanswered?  OF COURSE HE WOULDN'T!

So, Louis did what anyone would be: he murdered an associate, a promising associate, of Wayne.  He spilled blood in the city where his own father was murdered.

Koehlette received a whisper.  It advised that her boss had made a BIG mistake earlier, and that SHE was paying for it.  So be it.  

Wayne - your disrespect at Louis's funeral has been noted.  You should exercise caution.

Louis, and his friends, considered three killings from Wayne's crew to be a just accounting for the outrages visited upon Louis's familiy.

Thing are most likely going to get interesting.

Yeah none of us saw this coming, what a shocker, one of Kuku's family line doesn't get his way, and he did minimum effort and damage to make it seem like he is the best of the best.

We have chatted a few times, kuku's family and I, he will never change and will always be the same.

I am sure they did, everyone expected it. I am proud that your family line is so resistant to changing for the good. I only wish my family line was so resistant to changing, but i am here, a find upstanding member of society, causing no issues of un rest.

Premier - c'mon now.  You were a rogue before it even had a name.

I read in a journal somewhere about a relative of mine having a gunfight with a relative of yours, about 16 years ago... 

The Kuku family line is capable of change. They simply dont want it. They crave attention. Everytime they manage to get the attention they seek, simply because they make an absolute idiot of themselves.

Who are the true idiots, though? Those that continue to feed this line the attention it craves, or the Kuku lineage itself? (I'm fully aware I paint myself as an idiot, seeing as I'm here adding to the attention afforded to Kuku)

In this world, reputation means everything.  The Louis line was deep undercover.  I proved I could rank up, head up a crew. 

The recent murder proved that my linage simply won't stand for any CLs throwing their weight around in an unjust manner.

My linage will die for what it believes in.  Will yours?

Britches was an avid reader and picked up the final edition of the Chicago Tribune, sat down on a bench and read it right away. He was perplexed by the reasoning in the article and as luck would have it Dominic was walking past him. Britches quickly rose from his bench and sauntered over to address the man.

Hi Dominic, that was an interesting article you wrote about MrLouisT. It really made me think and that's exactly what a good article should do. I felt sadness for MrLouisT over the loss of his father to a rogue. It's a hard loss to deal with, especially when the perpetrator is not apprehended and punished. I then felt confused why someone so hurt over the loss of his father would turn around and do it to another innocent.  That's just flat out wrong. He took his anger out on someone that did nothing to him. Someone's wife, mother, sister and friend. Once I digested that part of the article I couldn't help but wonder why a son would think that he deserved to be rewarded because his father had been gunned down. I understand the heaviness of grief but he was on the job for nineteen days, right? He said he asked for a crew the week prior which would make him less than two weeks old. How can someone be angry that they weren't given the go ahead to leave the city they worked in for less than two weeks to move and be rewarded with such a high position? It's no secret that there have been numerous coffee shop conversations about crew leaders that are set up simply because they have the right family name. Is that what this man wanted? It seems to me that Wayne may have been sympathetic to Louis' circumstances, but a true leader does not make decisions without the input of those he trusts. It seems that he did that and explained the reason for his final decision. I don't know that I'd be so angry with the man that I would take it out on an innocent. I don't know that I'd expect to be rewarded when I was on the job for less than two weeks. Hell, when you work at a real job outside of a life of crime they have ninety days to decide if they will even keep you employed. Jobs are jobs, legal or illegal, promises are made and promises are broken. I think, had it been me, I would have given it more time. Who knows, maybe in time, some might have seen his talents and not seen a son that had a sense of entitlement. 

Promise me this is the last edition.

Scottie- crumples the paper and tosses it into the nearest bin.

Aside from killing a good friend of mine for no reason, I think the most comical aspect of this is that Louis thought his family line was so far undercover that nobody knew he was descended from kuku.

Scottie- chuckles a little and goes on about his day.

Shame, still never got that Wayne interview.
