I've been a sci-fi fan for a fair number of years both for the idea of fantasy taken into the future and for the sake of the inspiration it tends to bring to people in terms of inventing for the future.

As for TV/Movies, I echo a number of folks on things like Firefly, Star Wars, and Star Trek to a lesser degree. I had high hopes for the idea of I, Robot as it was originally written when the movie was announced, but sadly the movie we got was far less of a psychological trip and more of an action flick. Space Odyssey is a classic as well, though one that never clicked for me. It always felt too slow paced and to me seemed to drag on far too long for the payoff.

If you have a taste for campy British humor then Doctor Who and Red Dwarf are lovely shows as well that use a sci-fi backdrop. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy can tickle the same fancy.

I love sci-fi, but it holds a 3rd position in my roster. First love is fantasy, next is mafia culture, then sci-fi.

I was once a Star Wars afficionado and also loved Dune. In gaming, I'm somehow a Warhammer 40k half-geek haha.

Just watched one, The Faculty, it was awesome.  A group of high school kids discover their school teachers were taken over by an alien.  Pretty cool.

I do love Star Trek, BattleStar, early Star Wars and random crappy sci fi movies.

I am probably not the biggest sci-fi fan out there, but I do have my absolute favorite movies. 

The early Star Wars is three of them. The Episode 1-3 Star Wars movies, I am sorry to say is shit according to me. The new ones that came a few years ago and coming is a bit better. However I am not a big fan of those either.

I quite liked Salvation. Whilst it's officially categorised as a "drama", it also contains futuristic themes, like advanced spaceships and interstellar travel, so sort of an entry level sci-fi series, if you will. It's decent enough.
