Megara had left her home city of Detroit for New York, in pursuit of bigger and better things. The Charming Men criminal enterprise had left Detroit as parts of East Coast expansion and was now based out of New York City. As an esteemed member of the gang Megara had also relocated with them. 

This untimely move meant she had to leave her family and her friends behind in Detroit. But she had planned to visit as often as time permitted in her ever busy schedule. As business was booming and money was flowing as Megara worked her way up the ranks, it made sense for to buy a property for herself in Detroit, this would come in handy when she'd visit family or simply just needs a quick escape, for at the end of the day Detroit is home..

She had just brought a lavish new apartment in uptown Manhattan and didn't want to spend too much on her second property, she spent time looking around the local estates but couldn't quite find the suitable property, that was until she came across an advert of a company called the Starbird Apartments, they had some beautiful apartments listed on their listing, at an affordable price to. 

Megara was definetley interested in these properties, mainly due to the location and great amenities on offer. So she gave the number a call and arranged for a viewing..

Rain and Gail finally arrived at the Starbird Apartments to see how all the renovations the planned with Bernard Miles, the General Manager had gone.  When they arrived after checking out their apartment Bernard gave them the grand tour.  Everything had been replaced with new furniture and decor

In the lobby to continue the legacy of the Rebellion Starbird organization the names of the venues were changed to: 

Marathon Rebellion Lounge  - with specialty drinks and occasional entertainment,

Marathon Rebellion Cafe -   with complimentary coffee and morning Danishes, lunch and dinner menu.

Marathon Rebellion Game Room  - with pool tables and board games.

Marathon Rebellion -  a private poker room.  

Rain had to call Bentley with a problem she was having with one of the city commissioner.  She had tried to be cordial and respectful with the guy but now the only thing she wanted to do kill him.  Bentley told her not to do that.  He would send Devante to handle it. 

The next morning Bentley called Rain and told her Devante was on his way, caught an early flight out this morning and would be arrive in Detroit by noon and would met her at the apartment.  

Rain was sorry she didn’t have the chance to meet him in Chicago but they just couldn’t adjust their schedules.  She thought to herself how Bentley really trusted this guy.

Rain had just come back up to her apartment and there only a few minutes when Bernard phone her to let her know that Devante had arrived in the business office.

When Rain went to the office and introduces herself, Devante was just as Bentley had described him.  Very handsome, professional looking and focused, approachable but yet antagonizing.

As she held out her hand to shake his, he took her hands, leaned down to kiss it while keeping his eyes directly on hers.  After he kissed and removed her hand Rain just ignored what she felt and told Devante it was very nice to meet him.  To come have a seat and asked if he would like a drink or something.

Devante had seen a picture of Rain in Bently's apartment but when he saw her in person he smiled because she was far more beautiful then the picture or what he could imagine.   She was professional, sharp and the perfume she was wearing was amazing.  He took a seat but told her that he never drinks when discussing business.  He sat down in the chair she pointed in.  He listened to what she had to say and he was impressed.  He knew then that she had brains by the way she spoke, she had class because it showed by the way she moved and beauty. 

He agreed as he looked over her figures he understood the mark up and the distribution margins that she addressed.  He also understood that the shipment would be regulated and the weights constient.  However the more we by the less it cost per kilo.  She then asked him what is it he wanted to know.  Devante wanted to know the purity of the product and how much could he get and when would she like the cash to make the purchase.  He answers were satisfactory and her smile captivating.  She knew she had him the moment he kissed her hand and he knew that like the business deal.   

Wow Rain thought to herself, Bentley sure told Devante a lot about her operations.  But she told Devante they could discuss that at the Café, that what was going on here was more pressing.  She explained that Bernard during the renovations process paid Commissioner Harrision a fee to overlook a minor building violation.  Now he is trying to grease him for a lot more.  Rain told him she tried to be nice to the guy but he got a little ugly with her.  Her first thought was for him to met his demise but would rather in be handled in a different manner.   She was hoping Devante might be able to intervene and persuade the commissioner to be more accommodating.   

Devante nodded and asked for his address which Rain slide over to him.  Devante agreed to handle the issue he would ensure that the man would be convinced to back off and that he will be willing to comply going forward.  Then he stood up, botton up his suit jacket and gave her a small smile as he went to work.  Devate then went to his apartment where his men where.  He laid out a plan to handle Commissioner Harrison.  He told Victor and Keith to go and sit at the address given to him by Rain.  When her husband leaves for work they will wait two hours and then deliver her someflowers and tell her they were from her husband I need to know what she was wearing.  The moment he leaves for work Keith will call Carlos and Carlos will drive me to his office there I will talk with him.  Keith was told to stay by the phone until its settled.  

The plan worked Keith called Carlos and Carlos went with Devante and Sosa to meet the commisioner.   They met him in the parking lot and Devante called him out by name.  The man looked at Devante asking how did they come to know each other.  Devante told him they never met before.  Sosa punched the man in the gut to shut him up.  Devante told him that his wife Teresa looked great in her slik pink robe.  He smiled and told him that he has men watching her as they speak that they would shoot his wife and take his new born.  The man stood up and Sosa gut punched him again.  Devante pulled out a cigarette and told him that going forward anytime Rain calls he will answer. 

She will no longer kick any money up and whatever she wants he will smile and agree to.  If not he would send someone for his wife and kid and he would never know the face of the man that shoots him in the back of his head.  Devante looked at the man as his pants showed that he urinated on himself.  The man nodded and then Devante lifted the commissioners head up and looked him in the eyes.  He told the man that he never wants Rain to utter his name to him in anger again.   The commissioner promised that he would do whatever he said.  Devante nodded and they walked into the office with the man.  

The man was shaking as they went into the building.  He looked at Devante and Devante lit a cigerrette and told the man to call his wife.  Devante told him that she's going to thank him for the pink roses.  The man called home and she answered and thanked him for the flowers he said no problem and asked the color and type she replied that they were pink roses.  He said goodbye.  Devante then handed him a fat envalope it contained five grand.  Devante told him to call Rain and thank her for her generosity and that whatever she wants will be done.  Devante then told him that all other deals he had with whomever was his and they didn't care about what he did with them but Rain is to forever more be at the top of his list with not taxation.  He nodded then Sosa took the commissioners hand and slammed a sharp pencil into the palm of  it.  Devante then said just so you don't foreget.   

Devante looked around the apartment one last time.  He was moving his holdings in Detroit would be managed by Keith and Keith would execute any and all of Devante's instructions.  Devante would only check up every now and then.  He knew that Keith was capable of handling the day to day issues here and it didn't hurt that Keith had a lot of family in the city.  Devante looked out the window as he saw the truck loaded with his furnature.  Sosa walked in the room and told him that everything has been moved and they can hit the road whenever he was ready.  Devante smiled and looked around and then walked out with Sosa.  

Rain stopped by her apartment before heading to the Café.  She just loved where the apartment was situated right in the middle of the Broadway Avenue Historic District.  It was really a quaint and serene atmosphere. 

When she walked into the apartment building Bernard the General Manager met her in the lobby with a concerned look on his face.  He told her that Devante had relinquished his apartment.  Rain couldn’t believe what she was hearing.  She asked Bernard if he said why he told her it was something about moving his holdings.  Rain didn’t understand any of it.  Bentley had secured the apartment for Devante and she couldn’t imagine him not keeping it as his home away from home. Rain told Bernard not to worry about it, that she was sure there was nothing he or the staff had done wrong.  She would talk with Devante and see what’s going on.

When Rain went upstairs to her apartment she looked through her mail and messages and there was nothing from Devante saying he wasn’t going to keep the apartment.  She called back to his apartment in Chicago but he wasn’t there.

Well she thought, she would eventually find out what’s going on.

The Marathon Rebellion Café made the best hamburgers.  She called down and asked for a burger and fries to be delivered to her apartment.  They told her it would be ready in about fifteen minutes and she told them that would be fine.  She sat down reading the rest of her mail while she waited.

Devante got wind that Rain was coming to Detroit so he choose to stay another day in the city.  He walked into the apartment building about an hour before she did.   He was talking with staff members laughing and joking when another staff member came in and told him that they Just saw Rain walking in about thirty minutes ago.  He smiled and thanked him and then finished the short story.   He was walking He saw that she had food going up to her room so he intercepted and made the delivery himself.  When he knocked on the door he had a smile on his face.

Rain heard the knock on the door and went to answer expecting the delivery person.  When she open the door there Devante stood with her order.  She smile at him even though she wanted to give him a good punch in the chest.

What you are delivery service now?  Didn't know you had a new job. He just tipped his head.

She invited him in and she asked if he would like to share her hamburger.  She knew she wouldn't be able to eat it all.  She was just gaining her appetite back.  He told her sure he could use a bite, right about now.

They went into the kitchen and she told Devante to have a seat.  She got down two plates, opened the container, cut the hamburger in half and divided the fries on each plate.

Rain sat one plate in front of him and the other at her place at the table and sat down.

Devante smiled as Rain opened the door he knew she was surprised as she squinted her eyes at him with a cute little smirk.   He knew he had some explaining to do but he wasn't sure about what the issue was.  She offered him half of her food and he smiled and said sure he could eat.

He watched her pull out the plates he fought the desire to walk up behind her and hold her in his arms.  He watched as she pulled out a knife to cut the burger she did it so smoothly that he started thinking is this what it would be like coming home to her.  He smiled the whole time as he loved that concept.  When she sat a plate infront of him he thanked her as he fough the urge to pull her unto his lap.

He blessed his food then looked at her and thanked her again for sharing.   Then he asked her what brought her to Detroit, he explained that he was planning on leaving this city in the hands of is men to watch over his holdings.  He liked the city but it was tapped out for his growth and avoidence of the law.  Then he explained that he lost a family friend who operated out of Detroit.  

As they ate Rain told Devante that she knew that he had lost a good friend also, that's why she was concerned about him.  She wasn't quite sure if what he was saying meant he no longer wanted to help with the cocaine runs.  She hopes that's not what he meant. But she was used to men acting one way in the beginning then making a completely opposite turn.  She was also used to men being intimidated by her and if they weren't in complete control had problems with it.  She turned and asked him:

Well, where will you be staying when you make your trips to Detriot?  Does this mean you will be no longer helping with the cafe and the Colombian runs?

Rain didn't want to seem desperate for his help but she was getting used to his advice and really started to trust him as Bentley did.

She quickly tried to subside her defense mood of good things will be alright if he doesn't want to be involved with her anymore. But was wishing it wasn't that.

Devante looked at Rain and smiled he told her that he was plaining to stay with her when he was in Detroit. Their eyes locked Devante was surprise he said it to her and she was surprised that he said that.  Then they laughed, then Devante told her that he would continue doing business that the Colombian run was safe.  He explained to her that he was her business partner until his last breathe or she ended it.  He told her that he has a few friends here where he could stay.  

What he wanted to say was he belonged to her as long as she wanted him and nothing whould change that for him.  He then asked her what's her plans going forward he knew that Mercury was one of her best friends and that Rain had been grieving over her death.  He know that they had other businesses that they were in and to abandon her at this moment was not what he wanted to do he was playing the long game he was going to win her trust, respect and love.  

Rain was OK with Devante explanation but wondered if there was an alternative motive why he didn't want to have the apartment at the Starbird.  But she knew she would find out the real reason soon enough.  Then though just let it go.

Well, I met with Mercury's partner Michael and his lawyers.  They read Mercury's Will.   Mercury left a large portion of her estate to me, Micheal, and her sister.  Mercury hadn't spoken to her sister in a few years and didn't know if she was dead or alive. 

Michael is very familiar with everything but neither of us expected to have this much on our hands.  We could use any help we can get with her businesses.   The lawyers talked about liquidating some of them but neither Michael nor I was ready for any of that yet.  We will see what help we can get then make a few decisions.  I will be meeting him in New York tomorrow and you are welcome to come to give us some of your expertise.

And by the way, you better get your apartment back here or find somewhere else to lay your hat for certainly, it's not going to be here.

Devante looked at Rain and nodded as she told him about Mercury's estates.  Then he agreed to go to New York with her.  He also had business there to deal with so this was two birds with one stone.  He got a chuckle when she told him that he was not going to sleep in her place.  He told her it was worth a shot.  He was serious about having friends that had places and he knew he would never stay more then two days in Detroit and if he did it would be because of her.   

vGoddess arrives at the Starbird Apartments where she recently rented an apartment. First she goes to the cafe as she is hungry from the journey. She orders some tea and danishes to fill her stomach before heading to her new apartment to rest.

Foamy notices the glorious building and pops in to see if anything piques his interest

I don't suppose you have anything resembling a tree do you? with ample space for storing my nuts?

Poppers was out looking for a new place to live,so he stops at Starbird Apartments. entering the office walks up to the lady working and ask for a apartment to rent month to month. She pills 1 up     number15 for him ,pop' pays her and walks down to his new place.

vGoddess entered her home with chocolate pancakes in hand. She took a quick shower, changed into pajamas, and sat down with a pile of papers to look at. She had lots to work on. With so many businesses running, she had to check their progress.

She yawned. It was tiring, but she needed to complete all the paperwork before heading to bed.

Tristan was approved for a two bedroom apartment, he looked it over and the furniture arrived.  He loved the decor as he sipped on his brandy.  The bedrooms were larger then he thought and the bathrooms were perfect.   He sat on the couch once it was placed where he wanted it.  Chase and Calvin where there watching everyone that walked in with furniture.   

Sana barely even got settled in her apartment in Detroit and suddenly here she was, having to leave again. Living out of suitcases and boxes wasn't exactly the luxurious life she thought a gangster would lead, but hey, as long as she had a roof over her head there was not going to be any complaints from her. However, the process of moving out and packing her stuff all over again was definitely tedious so she got out her sturdiest shoes and most comfortable clothes and got to business.

Thankfully, because of her short time in Detroit and the whirlwind that was the past few months, she didn't really get to unpack much so she only had a couple of boxes to take care of. As she entered her unit in the Starbird Apartments, she felt a cool breeze run through her -- no one had been in here for about a month or two now. She sighed as she plopped down on her sofa, which promptly released a cloud of dust as she did. Was this her life now? Running and running, never planting down roots anywhere? Silly her for even wondering this because of course it is... she knew it would be this way from the moment she decided to sign her name in blood with the people of the underworld.

Trying to stop herself from sulking around, she took a deep breath before bouncing out of her seat and into her room, towing the big boxes she had bought from the store down the street. She put her hands on her hips as she surveyed the room -- a few dozen dresses and outfits in the closet and a lot of documents on the desk... but other than that, not much else. Rolling up her sleeves, she got right down to it and cleared the room until it was spotless.

As she finished packing everything up, she called over the movers who would drive her items to Chicago and asked them to pick up the boxes. Opening a bottle of wine as they moved everything out, she soon found herself standing in the middle of an empty apartment for the third time this year. "To setting down roots in Chicago... and to never packing another god damned box again." She toasted silently before downing her drink. She left the wine bottle on the kitchen counter as she walked towards the door, closing that chapter in her life entirely.
