A simple man. Started by: -Premeir on Feb 04, '11 23:05

Walking into the safe house in Saint Louis that Godfather Cherpkee had provided Chicago with during the war, he turned to his head of security and spoke "Thanks for all the help out there bud, but I need some time alone"

The bodyguard patted his shoulder and nodded, then turned to walk away waving the rest of his men away

Walking into the dimly lit room he removed his vest which was covered in sweat, and then laid his gun on the table

It had been a rough few days, the man had lost one of his best friends, due to the same fate that met his own father, and then a bloody war that threatened the very city his best friend had built

"Well old friend, I don't know what to say" he said as he looked at the sky

I made the same promise you made to my father, that I would watch over your kids, your city, and what you have built, hopefully you are up there looking down, and are happy with things so far.

I know we lost a lot of good people in the last few days, but hopefully it was all worth it. I didn't view this war as something we did out of hate, but out of love, for our brothers and our friends. I had friends on both sides, and it hurt to protect the people i love, by hurting the people i love as well.

Laying on the bed closing his eyes, trying to daze off, he continue to talk to the emptiness in the room

I promise i will do the best to give your son the most I can, even if he doesn't come to Chicago, i will come to him, I remember not to long ago, when i was still in college when my father passed, ironically dying the same way you did, and Roman and yourself came to me, begging me to stay away from this life, but knowing there was no way i could.

I pray that your son comes to me asking for money for college and a nice home for his wife that will make an honest man out of him, but i know he won't, and I hate myself that i won't turn him away, i will embrace him in this violent hateful life.

Rolling over, he looks at his gun, next to a bible, he takes the bible and puts it in the drawer while keeping the gun in its place

The woods are lovely, dark and deep but i have promises to keep and miles to go before i sleep.

Katana understand Premeir as she hears his words and finds herself lost in thought for a while. Snapping to she smiles.

Those words ringly loudly for quite a few people. Many of us had friends from a few cities that had losses. She pauses and looks at the roses she holds in her hand tightly.

We can offer their sons and daughters hope and a home but as for those we lost a simple Rest in peace and sleep well is all I can offer along with a flower that simply speaks you will be missed in a form that my words can not.

Premeir... I know that you are a man of your words, you do anything you can for the great city of Chicago, her God Father and her children that walk the streets everyday. You also do what you can as well for your friends. A simple man that abides by his word.. Katana smiles as she turns back to the road to go about her way delivering her flowers.

Octavian, remaining unnoticed in the corner of the safe house, listens quietly to the words spoken by his long time friend -Premeir. He had tried to keep thoughts of dead friends out of his mind while his city recovered, but -Premeirs words brought buried thoughts to the surface. After the words are spoken he bows his head and gives a silent prayer to the gods.

Prem....Premmy...my old friend. This life we lead is a violent one, full of death, but that doesn't make our losses any lighter. We made the choice to protect our cities, and our loved ones. Unfortunately, war comes with losses, but after all is said and done, we must thank the gods for our survival, and celebrate the lives of those lost in the process. All of our cities had some key losses, and I know that the souls of the lost would want us to keep our heads up, and help to rebuild what they gave their lives to protect. War is hard, but what we do with the losses, and the hardships we face is what makes us who we are. I wish the best for you and yours, and I hope our friendship doesn't lead down the path we took last night against other friends.

Octavian gets up, and walks over to the bed that -Premeir is resting. He gives -Prem a reassuring shake of the shoulder, and makes his way out the door.
