uh huh sure. Started by: SINGER on Feb 05, '11 09:04

SINGER stared out into the night sky. Filled with stars he tried to count them but lost track after one. SINGER didnt know how to count higher than one so he gave up. That is how he lost track. Looking down from the sky he saw the people that were gathered around him throwing vegetables at him yelling things out like how much cooler they were then him and that he cant sing at all really. SINGER politely grabbed a pumpkin and threw it at the tallest man there. When he fell down and everyone relaxed SINGER was ready to get down to busines..

I understand that the pumpkin was random. I carry a pumpkin around on certain nights like this. It is nothing more than a goodluck charm. After grabbing your attention however i would like to pull you into a conversation with me.

SINGER pulls out a paper and begins to read the quote.

"HEY, Thanks 4 the Bust!" Cute SINGER thought to himself.

Many people in life have a different idea on what a mafioso is and what they should stand for. Some seem to believe that a Mafioso is an evil man running around the world trying to overthrow the government and slowly create a new world order! Others, for some strange reason, seem to think we exist only as much as wizards and witches do. I am not really worried what people believe about us but i am concerned about what, rather How, we view ourselves.

Is a Mobster, a made man and above if you will, A gentleman/Lady who deserves to be treated as such. A person that deserves the respect to know if they have been pickpocketed or even if someone wishes to make a pickpocket attempt? Does a Mobster deserve the kind of respect from other mobsters that would be found within in his own crew? I mean we can take this a little further, which i know you would like, should a mobsters grave be held as a sacred place that should not be defiled by human hands? Should a mobsters body guards be killed after that mobster has died?

SINGER pulls out a pen and throws it at someone to keep their attention.

Or is a Mobster that is not within your own family undeserving of even the slightest of thankyous after a jail bust? Does a mobster within another family get drug prices if they politely ask? If a man that is respected in one family still respected in another famliy, because he is a made man or women? Does a made mans word get treated with respect as if he was a man within your own family or does it get treated as a man that can carry more drugs than your average wiseguy?

SINGER thows another pen at another person.

We all have an idea, mostly that of our own, of what a Mobster, made man/woman, is and is not. I would like to hear some of our intelligbile friends on what that, being a mobster, enititles.

If we are going to speak on what a mobster is i would just like to start off by saying R.I.P. to all those that have fallen in the war. Especially to my friends sons and daughters, i miss your parents.

Makovelii suddenly appears out of nowhere and into plain sight and says,

"I agree with you SINGER, being a mafioso to some people may think that they are above the rest and better then everyone else. On the other hand some believe that a mafioso has rules and guidelines on how to act in public; how to show loyalty, respect, self-control, and dignity for his/her family and leader.

I believe that once you enter this world of crime you have to build up your respect or better yet, you must EARN it! Respect is not something that you can buy or it certainly should not be something that can be bought. You must survive all the bullshit and not get caught up in anything that could turn out severely negative for yourself in the long run. Basically, that old saying is very important in this world of ours, "Keep your friends close but keep your enemies even closer."

Throws a pen back at Singer

Quite simply, we're business men.  We make a profit.  We do what needs to be done to make that profit.  And, good business is built on trust and reputation.  If you have the reputation of not being trustworthy, you won't make a profit.

Quite so Mr Pickles. However I find that common courtesy and good manners work better in the long run. If you go into a place and trash it first off you are then diverting funds into repairs etc. If however you go and 'discuss' matters with the owner you stand a better chance of getting all you ask for without resorting to violence except in the odd case where the person/people will not listen to reason.

To answer your question Mr singer I would say it is also common courtesy and good manners that you thank whoever for a Jail bust or an invite to a crime, even if it is a failure. I found it gets you noticed and you get more invites, not just from family but from others as well.

Benton Frazer steps out of the crowd resplendant in his second best uniform, the distinctive Red Serge, a high collared scarlet tunic, midnight blue breeches with yellow leg strip, Sam Browne belt with shoulder cross strap and white sidearm lanyard, brown riding boots, brown Stetson hat and brown leather gauntlets. Placing his hand over his mouth he gives a polite cough to clear his throat and attract the attention the few attending mafioso.

If I may Mr Singer? I cannot speak for the general populace, only for myself. I personally see myself as something of a gentleman, polite and with good manners. I will hold the door open for people and give up my seat on the omnibus for a lady forced to stand. However, there have been a few foolish individuals to date who take my nature as something of a weakness, and where shocked to briefly learn what a mistake they had made.

I am quite prepared to answer any question and provide any useful information or assistance I can as long as the person approaching me is polite and it does not contravene the oaths I have taken. The problem is that a lot of individuals don't seem to understand what politeness entails. Saying to me, 'Oi mate, whats the drug prices in your city?' is not in my mind polite. If I do not know you I am hardly your 'mate', and whilst that does not make you my enemy, it is only right that you call me Sir, or Constable Frazer, or even Ben, Benny or Benton if we have reached that level of familiarity. I expect this from people within Inspector Gadgets family as well, afterall, they say that familiarity breeds contempt.

Like wise, if I have provided you with information or rendered assistance onto you, I expect a polite thank you. there is no need to go over the top and buy me flowers or a box of candy or tickets to the Ice Hockey, but dropping a quick line to express your gratitude will go a long way to establishing a friendship and ensuring my assistance on future occasions.

If you can't maintain the basic human nicities, then don't be surprised if you get a terse reply or no response at all. Thank you kindly for your time.

Benton wanders off in search of further adventure and to assist those in need like some modern day Dogtanian and the three Muskerhounds.

Fenris being tall guy that got hit with a pumpkin, raise and clean his suit a bit.

Well I see us like businessmen that operate outside of so called socially acceptedbehavior. But if there was not demand for actions we do and market for products we sell we wouldn’t be in this line of work. So society itself carries part of blame for our transgressions.

However just because we are outlaws that does not mean we can just run wild, we have our own laws and regulations and if  we take time and consider them they are much more strict and dutifully enforced than saw called criminal justice system. For things where civilian don’t even get slap on the wrist we often risk our lives.

As for how we conduct ourselves among each other, well that’s pretty much individual matter. I myself try to be as much polite as I can ,specially if I’m dealing with people that I don’t know or those outside my family. Therefore I appreciate when I’m treated the same. When I ask for drug prices I always send mine first as a token of good will and polite answer that states that he/she are not able to respond in kind are every bit appreciated as prices. After all person took the time to consider what I’m asking and answer me, I will notice that in case we ever happen to do business together. Little of good will can go far considered in long run.

Give respect where is due and sooner or later that respect will be given back, creating that way network of people that together can be very beneficial to each other. That goes for every aspect of our lives here not only drugs, jail braking, PP-ing, OC and everything else.

Finishing longest speech he ever gave Fenris pulls out silver flask from his pocket and take a long swig out of it then offers it to SINGER.

Just to reiterate what as already been said here.  We're mafioso, but we are still people.  Now do I expect someone here to thank me if I happen to free them from jail?  Absolutely not.  If they ask for my drug prices in a certain city, do I expect to see their prices in return?  You bet.

I, just like everyone else, enjoys a good crime.  Especially when I am invited to participate with a group of my peers.  Making money as a whole is a good thing in our life, no?  Besides, if it were not for making money around here, for ourselves, then we must ask ourselves what the point of it all is.

Now, Mister Singer, regarding your question with robbing the graves of our dearly departed friends and family members, then I must say, their money is free to all.  It's not like they'll be needing it anyway.  And the same goes for their bodyguards.  If these so-called protectors are dumb enough to stand around a dead body for hours and days later, then they deserve to be shot.

Good day to you, ladies and gentlemen.  Just my few cents worth.

Horatius tosses a few pennies on the ground and heads down the street.

SINGER listens to Horatius. It was a strange thing but SINGER was quite curious of this man who was a gangster with the knowledge SINGER could only dream of containing in his small brain. SINGER than smiled picking up Horatius few pennies before anyone else could.

As for those of you still gathered i would just like to say how impressed i was with all of your answers.
