Hey all.

I like many others have noticed the decline of the business district. There appears to be a serious lack of activity going on there. Most of the businesses you find are abandoned, and the business owners are no longer alive.

On my last account i created 2 businesses, the next day i died. Very fucking annoying!

I have a simple suggestion to combat this. Take heed:

You create a business in a city. Unfortunately and inevtiably you die. Your next character then comes back and visits the business where he then 'Takes control' of his mother/fathers business. The only way the business will be affected is that the mother/fathers name on the original thread and all their replies - are now changed to your name. This way you can continue to run the business as normal.

I know there are both pros and cons to this but i believe this would spark more interest in the business district.

Ehhh..I feel that this would take away from the roleplay aspect of the business district. It would also look rather weird to look back through the replies and see someone talking to "Richard" who has now been renamed to "Peter". Thus, Richard never existed. The way it's currently setup, you can reopen the business and roleplay that the former owner passed and you, their closest relative are now taking it over. Or, perhaps that you, a rival competitor has now taken it over. Whichever way, I feel it's better the way it is.

I believe something could be done here to improve things. I do not really post in the business district anymore as half the people who opened the business are dead. The last time I did, and was attempting to RP with the owner, someone pointed out to me that the owner was dead, which begs the question why was the business still open? who was I supposed to RP with?

I dont think the thread should be taken over by the persons next character. I think when the owner dies the business should close and people should not be allowed to post there anymore.

And as Phreaking Panda said, if the owners next of kin wants to carry on the business then just start a new thread and RP that you are the next of kin into the business.

I don't dis-agree with what you are saying Panda, as i stated there are both pro's and con's. How about just changing the owners name on the business? Then the new owner can RP that the business has been passed onto him.

Most people, when they are in the business district see a business and don't bother with it because the person that created it is now dead.

A simple tweak as changing the owners name on a business would be much better IMO.

* If this happened the new owner would not get the benefits of the new business, such as gaining vision, stealth, XP etc etc.

Even this would be more beneficial. Person dies, his business dis-appears. If the business was good then the next of kin can simply make a new thread with the business. (It is then their choice whether they want to RP that they have re-opned the business or not.)
