Several thuds followed by the slam of a door and the sob of a woman, that was the last memory Taylor had of her family before she was taken into care. It had been a long road to the one she stood before now. Taylor had endured more than most by the age of 14 but it had made her the person she was now, bitter and brutal but with a facade of sweetness.

Being in the care system had been a rough time for Taylor. The first place she went to was the foster home of a young Christian couple, who wanted to be on the good side of the Lord but couldn't have kids of their own. Taylor had been too much for them to handle, constantly displaying the same forms of aggression she had been witness to in her home, pretty soon she had been on her way to foster home number two. 

The next foster family she went to already had several children there, Taylor was the smallest and youngest and often found herself a target of their pranks. They gave her a tough time and this often went unnoticed. Taylor would bring her complaints to her new foster parents but they weren't in it for the love of the children, they were just happy to pick up the cheque at the end of each week and just as happy to spend it on themselves. There was no real care provided there and it was a pretty much free for all. Dinner time was made up of 4 of us eating at the same table with no adult supervision, while those bigger than Taylor had their pick of her meal and she left with nothing but scraps. This went on for several months before one day Taylor had decided enough was enough and drove a fork through Charlie's hand when he had attempted to take her beef tongue. The beating she received afterwards was a thorough one. Despite her reasoning, the foster parents were not about to allow this newcomer to disrupt what was a settled home and used their own heirarchical methods of ensuring the running of the house hold was smooth. Charlie's revenge kept her bed ridden for 5 days and on the 6th, Taylor decided to make a run for it and packed up her few belongings in a make shift bag, made up of some old trousers. Three days later, Taylor was found by the Children's Bureau, sodden on the streets of Detroit.
