Jid paced drowsily through the streets of Harlem. It was getting late; his watch told him it was around a quarter past, just enough time for him to get his employer's job done before midnight. Looking up from his wristwatch, he stopped in his tracks as the large signboard in front of him caught his eye. The sign read 'Harrison's Jewelry and Appraisal' in bold, red letters. He proceeded to walk into the establishment where he was greeted by glass counters filled to the brim with diamond-laced accesories and golden necklaces. He ignored these and shuffled straight towards the person manning the counters. "You know why I'm here," Jid mouthed dryly as he pointed to his right pocket where the faint outline of a sixgun is visible.
"Can I please get another month to pay it? You see my daugh-"
"Slick talk," Jid mumbled to himself his employer's advice on how to deal with this specific 'tenant'. He wasn't listening to the man's pleads as his mind was already made up. He snatched his gun from his holster and pointed it at the man. "Followed by stick talk." The man desperately tried to reach for something under the counter but Jid had his firearm drawn already. He squeezed the trigger.
"And sleep." Two shots hit the man center mass, he immediately fell on his back. His hands tried to apply pressure to his wounds but it was no use. Jid stepped forward and sent a round into the man's head. He sighed in relief, the man wasn't in pain anymore.
He then proceeded to do his employer's bidding. He broke the glass counters and took as much jewelry as he can carry back to his safehouse, leaving the messy crime scene behind. He took about half of the jewelry and stashed it in his mattress and placed the rest in the crate his employer provided him with. He set it aside and called it a night. He was gonna need all the sleep he can get for tomorrow. |
