I was thinking it would be quite handy on the obits page to have an extra column to see how many posts somebody got at their funeral.

In no way do i want this game to be like facebook, i just think it would be handy to know whos deaths people care about.

What do you guys think?

I believe that funerals should be used for saying goodbye to the dead. Lets not turn the obits into a popularity contest. I can't think of any benefits that this would add to the game.

I agree with TheDude. Funerals are time to mourn and see your friends out with peace. It should not matter if the deceased recieves 1 post or a 100 posts. If you really are interested though just scroll through and see how many people gave their condolences.

I didnt want this to be used as a popularity contest, just to make things easier. We have columns in the streets saying how many people posted there, so why not in the obits.

Yes funerals are a place to mourn, well done, but i am talking about the obits.

I am still confused as to the benefit of adding this? I can't think of a single one.

lets add page views and sharks with lazers too

It's a game. No need to add any childish remarks. Grow up.

Guess the Page Views was just too much.

Sharks with lazers?! Gimme! On a serious note, I also do not see how this would benefit MR or the community.

I'm not for or against this but I do see a benefit since others said they couldn't see one. So you die, you sign back up and read your funeral, how many more times do you check and see if another message was left for your deceased relative? Having to load the full page each time and scroll to the end. A counter would allow people to see if a new post has been left without opening the full thread and paging to the end.

Just adding a benefit since others are so quick to just shoot things down.

The obits are for NEWS and INFO... Not to rate the popularity of a character, which in reality is what you are asking for by adding a post count even if you deny it.

The Streets, OOC, Jail, Help, Suggestions, HQ, Business District, and Outside areas of the game are FORUMS for role playing and dicussions... Funerals are not technically forums but a place to pass on wishes to the character that died.

I do not want it to be a popularity contest, I am not a liar, this is not my intention. The popularity of a character is not based on how many Obit posts they get. And in any case usually unpopular characters get more Obit post than the more succesful ones.

Thank you Whatsername you see my point. My idea is purely for convenience.

Usually Obit posts go along the lines of "No WS needed" and are not used "to pass on wishes to the character that died", it would be alot easier to just look at the obits and see that someone has a post and people are more likely to click on it.

It also saves people asking around "Why has this person died?" because they know as soon as someone has posted and can check for some sort of reason.

It seems everyones negative against this is because you think i want to turn the obits into a popularity contest, clearly not, I am not dead.

Many of these "No WS needed" go unoticed because people do not bother to check the funerals, although if they see there is a post they are more likely to check it.
