While the chatty passengers were seated around Nikki, sipping their fancy cocktails and flicking through magazines, she was skimming the dates in her diary. 9.30 pm @ Fox Theatre. Her finger trailed along the words as she winced slightly. And next to it in more scribbly handwriting, she noticed the name 'Jorge'. Whether she had gotten his surname or not, it didn't matter anyway. They were probably going to lose contact eventually. Nikki had a habit of forgetting to write back sometimes. A loud grumble erupted from her stomach. She adjusted in her seat uncomfortably, placing her hands on her stomach and applying pressure. She refused to have any of the plane food. Last time it just made her sick and needless to say, she wasn't happy to hear about the unfinished work load when she got back to the office few days later since the food poisoning incident.

Anyways, Nikki just wanted some quiet time for herself before the plane would finally touch down. Then when it did, she woke up a little bit startled to suddenly find herself back to where it all began. Detroit. Her beloved city. After she yawned and reoriented herself in space and time, she stood up from her seat and gathered her carry on luggage ready to exit the plane. It was hectic. People were rushing to get out. Nikki didn't blame them. Being on a plane for hours was so mentally and physically exhausting, but at least she didn't get sick this time. She let people go ahead of her as she stayed where she stood and gave a friendly nod for the person behind her to keep walking. Home time. Soon-ish. The line was long but she didn't feel it was. All she could think about was coming home to her family and friends. Oh, and Jorge. Eugh. She wanted to cancel the date, but that wouldn't be nice. Nikki tried to imagine being the one getting stood up. Yeah, she wouldn't like that either.

SeanCallan should be here somewhere. Nikki had asked him prior to her business trip if he could pick her up at the airport when she got back. As she held onto her luggage, after getting the other suitcases from the conveyor belt, she squinted her eyes and walked around the area hoping to find a familiar face. And suddenly there he was. She felt a sense of relief. She waved, trying to get his attention, but it didn't seem like it was enough so she just approached him and threw her arms around his neck. The hug lasted for a few seconds only. Nikki awkwardly pulled away and she smiled. "Missed ya, I guess. How are you?" She told him in a tired tone. It was obvious that she was tired. But she was more relaxed now to be in the presence of someone familiar. Definitely.

Sean had arrived at the airport over an hour early, God only knows why. He wasn't even sure why Nikki had asked him to meet her....why the hell couldn't Ray or Donnacha be here?!?! Sean's mood wasn't helped by the fact that it had been pissing down with rain all day, some silly sod of an earner had had a fucking duel and lost, and a delivery of some of his most potent moonshine had been intercepted but some of the few cops he didn't have on the payroll.

The last time he'd seen Nikki, she'd been talking about some date she had lined up for her return...some fella called Jorge – Jorge, fer fuck sake, what kinda name is that?!?! She can do better than that, Sean thought to himself.

Sean remembered the first time he'd seen her, in that Donut Shop in Los Angeles, how in control she'd been yet not distancing herself from her employees – exactly the style of management she was bringing to her organisation in Detroit. She was definitely an asset to the city....but could she be more than that??? He'd thought so once, but she had shown no interest.

Disturbed from his thoughts by an announcement, her saw her amongst the throng of people emerging from the recently landed flight. For a second, she took his breath away – damn she looked good. As she approached him and offered the very briefest of hugs, he took in the familiar scent of her perfume.

“About time.... I thought you'd never get here!”, he said in a tone that he really didn't like. Softening a little as he saw how tired she looked, he added, “How was your trip? Did everything go to plan?”

They talked while she dragged her suitcase along the floor. Nikki had told him that she was extremely tired from speaking to so many people and that she was dreading the date she’d have to go to later with that guy named Jorge.

“But yeah... I’d say that everything went according to plan. How about you?” The exit doors of the airport flew open and she was greeted by a cool breeze which she inhaled. Nikki closed her eyes for a moment before flicking her eyelids open. Then she turned to Sean and smiled.

“I still have some time to kill before the date. Where are you taking me now?”

Straight to the point, that was one of the traits Nikki possessed that Sean admired, although there was much, much more to like besides that. Having placed her bags in the car, they set off at a steady pace, despite the increasing traffic.

Sean had never been one to be stuck for something to say, but he always felt at a loss around Nikki, so the conversation was at a bare minimum, and when they did speak, they both seemed to talk at the same time. In the end they settled for a comfortable silence.

As they drove into the city and into the area of Bricktown that Sean as made his home, he glanced sideways, and had to try his hardest not to laugh at the confusion on Nikki's face – he doubted this was the first place she thought he'd bring her to. Pulling up to the kerb, Sean indicated the ramshackle building on the corner...

See? I thought this would make a perfect spot for the first in a joint venture...since we here prohibition could end soon, I reckon classy joints are gonna be a big thing...I know right now it looks nothing, but with a bit of work, I know people....it could be something really special!

What do you think? You in?”

It took Nikki a while to process the fact that they had suddenly pulled up at a carelessly built place. There were cracks in one of the windows and a graffiti tag sprayed across the door. She looked at Sean and couldn’t help but smile. He looked so determined and hopeful that the place could really turn into something great. Instead of turning his offer down and potentially crushing one of his dreams, she gave a side shrug and smiled. “I’m in.” But if they were going to do this, she wanted to go all the way.

After stepping out of the car, she looked inside the building and saw pure emptiness. Nikki was still kind of hesitant. She didn’t know if this would work. “Oh, by the way... what would you call the place?”

He could see the doubt in her eyes as she looked over what was, honestly, a shit hole.  But he could see the potential.  In a way, it reminded him of the Nikki he had first encountered in Los Angeles....broken but with such obvious potential - potential which had blosssomed into the woman stood before him now.  Of course, she'd had to word incredibly hard, and battle against others who had vendettas against her, but she stood on the cusp of great things.  She just needed to keep looking forwards, towards the light.

"The name?  Why, Luna's, of course"

A hint of a smile appeared on Luna's face and she suddenly found herself slapping him on the arm playfully. "Seriously? I love it and hate it at the same time." She definitely wasn't expecting Sean to name it that, especially because she had only just revealed it to him very recently that it was the name most people knew her by. However, she was happy. Happy that he wasn't just mindlessly listening to her. In fact, it seemed to her that he was keeping mental notes of her every so often. Nikki loved it.

She walked back outside, not checking to see if Sean was following her. "I have a date later. Mind dropping me off to the meeting place?" Nikki was already seated in the passenger seat. From the outside anyone would think she was excited. But in reality, she just wanted to get it over and done with. "But tomorrow... Tomorrow we will focus on this joint venture of ours."
