You're telling me that if someone is keeping up their training to the extent that they're 2-3 times as effective as someone else, you can't visibly tell the difference between the two? I don't buy it in the least.

Case in point: Picture One. Picture Two. Two individuals of average build. Neither is visibly flabby in the least. It's still very obvious which one works out and is going to have a faster reaction speed even when he's fully clothed wearing long sleeves.

Heh. Of course if you use the picture of a worldwide recognised Martial Arts/film star we will automatically assume him. Well done for proving my point, that it takes using Jet Li to know which person is faster. And let's face it, you still can't be 100% sure that Jet Li is faster.. the other guy is completely unknown and at least has the advantage of youth.

And if you actually read what I said properly, I never mentioned physical training.

Back to the point though, you had to use a world-recognised martial arts star to attempt to prove your point. Stop grasping at straws and admit defeat :)

Oh come on. Thinking Jet Li kicks emoboy's ass has nothing to do with it being Jet Li. Show those pictures to someone who's lived under a rock and doesn't know who Jet Li is and I guarantee they'll still pick him. I picked him because he's a good example of a guy who you can just tell by looking at that he'd kick your ass, even without knowing anything about him. He's the "100 health, definitely staying in shape" type guy on the bg scale. Clear your mind of anything but what he looks like, and you still notice "holy crap, that guy definitely works out." You can see that even through his clothes. You'd know he could beat up emoboy even if you didn't know he was a martial artist. I picked random emoboy because he's clearly not out of shape and flabby -- he's just not actively training like a bodyguard at 100 health would be. He's about a 70 on the bg effectiveness scale. Slacking some, but not horribly so. But even at that point, it's easy to see who kicks who's ass. Compare with this random guy: apparently a Baliwood actor. He'd kick emoboy's ass too.

Point is, people are very good at picking out who not to mess with. Being able to distinguish strength is a skill that has been biologically bred into our species. It's not at all unrealistic to say that you'd notice whose bgs were slacking in the training department and be able to judge downwards accordingly.

Well no, I'm sorry, but you simply cannot tell just from looking at someone. That 'emo' guy could be incredibly well trained at anything, and you can't know that from looking at someone. Sure people can look mean, angry, or like a good fighter - but that doesn't mean anything.

So tell me... which one of these isn't fully trained?

That's right, you can't tell. For all you know, they haven't been trained... ever... they might not even be bodyguards at all - the point is all they have to do is look mean, and like you wouldn't wanna start a fight with them. Other than that, you have no idea how effective they will actually be, and isn't that exactly the point?

Since we're using random internet picture to prove our point...

That guy wasn't trained at all but he'd be perfectly capable of being a bodyguard. I'll just stand in front of him.

The one on the far left.

As you can see I myself am IWP yet I am still in favour of this idea.

Report Post Tip

I think this suggestion has merit and now the player commission is up and running I thought I'd bring it up again.

Report Post Tip

Second the notion that this should be considered. It's a solid idea all around.

I think although it sucks for everyone who is IWP owp and ewp who cannot afford to keep them up and will look weak by showing their actual bgs by how many are healed - It is a good idea.. I know this because if you have ever had bgs, you didnt fix them and you prayed this feature would never get turned on - then you know the feeling and that would mean you know something is wrong with you not ever fixing them but stll showing iwp. Of course we all want to stay iwp etc even if we cant fix them but if we look past the greed part it might be a legit idea/fix

Having read this, DeadlySin's argument seems about right to me. I'm not sure you would be able to tell which of the 200 guys are worth discounting purely by looking at them. Maybe if they are like 20% effective, but then they probably shouldn't be turning up for work at all. I don't know, the bodyguard volumes are a difficult situation to justify in any realism sense.

As previous posters have stated, I think this would really just be giving users even more information about the strength of someone's account. I'm not a fan of disclosing anything, which is why I ideally I would like all BG levels to be removed and just have "Protected" or "Not Protected".
