A Last Letter from Sean Callan Started by: Optimus on Nov 25, '19 20:56

I found this letter when I visited a bar that had been recommended to me in Detroit, yesterday, Luna's.  The place was a bit of a mess, the police had literally removed the bodies...the place reeked of death...

A Last Letter from Sean Callan

I've not been a particularly good man, I've kept secrets, lied, and yeah, I killed people, most deserved it and some didn't. When I came to these shores and was taken in by John Walton, I couldn't believe my luck. A chance to prove myself, with a fella who was clearly and the up and up. It gave me a chance to my my feet and get started on not only making some money for myself and for the Boss, but also to start networking. Too many people in this world communicate only with those close to them, they don't look at the bigger picture.

It was while with John, that I first encountered Viktor. Now that fucker had ideas, and he was ambitious. It was no surprise to anyone when he got the nod to branch out on his own. I gotta say, I was mighty surprised when he asked me to go with him....I was a nobody. But it changed my life. Working in a new outfit, but one that promised such potential, it opened doors to meeting people I never thought I would.

I saw a flyer in the street one day – it said that Godfather Mikhail and the rest of the city heads were opening up Detroit to ambitious men and women. A chance to branch out on their own and build something new. Rebuild a derelict city. Was I tempted by this? At first, no. I knew an acquaintance, Nikki Osavkovska was in the running for a place, and I was more than happy to help her...she meant a lot to me. When she appointed her RHM...I gotta say, my ego took over. LHM was never going to be an option when being an actual crew leader was a possibility. So I spoke to Viktor...and just a few short days later, I found myself outside a ramshackle building in 12th Street, Detroit.

With my associates Katerina and Petrov (when he actually woke up), I began working with the other guys nominated to work in the city – Mikari, Sharpe, Jadon, and Nikki. Things were good, and relationships began to be built. Yeah, we found it difficult to recruit, but we accepted that was because we were on dodgier ground than those being authed in other cities. Anyone who joined us knew they were effectively taking almost as big a chance as we were. One point I gotta make clear at this point, I do not want Mikari to be just a footnote in the history of our time in DT – she was much more than that, and a great help when we first arrived. It was tough making the decision to remove her, but as with everything else I did in my life, I had to look at the bigger picture.

We always knew, and admitted it to each other, that as a city, and indeed as individuals, we were no threat to anyone outside the city. We were short on numbers, and as a result, we were purely focussed on building our headquarters and employing bodyguards, while at the same time, trying to build our skills to defend ourselves. In private moments, however, we often admitted to ourselves that our life expectancy was short. It was always inevitable that the ones who had created the situation we existed in would grow bored of it, and decide to remove us.

Now, as I hear the rumbling of cars in the street outside, I know that we were right. As I said at the beginning, I've done some bad things, but the people who I have fought for, and those I am giving my life with, know the kind of man I am, and the loyal crew leaders I had by my side. And that means more to me than any mention in a newspaper column!

Optimus, are you able to verify the authenticity of this document? There is not even one mention of The Coconut Chronicle, a newspaper SeanCallan briefly owned and served as editor-in-chief. It is hard to believe that such a significant chapter would be completely left out of his life story. Are you sure you have not been duped by a forgery? This seems forged in a dupery.
