A great pass time for myself and many other players is the triviabot on Lounge (#Trivia) but the questions seem rather outdated and sometimes are straight up broken: 21:47 <TriviaBot_> Which of these pop singers was never a guest star on an episode of "Will & Grace"? --> that was the entire question. Pretty sure the leader boards are also broken as once you cross a certain point you're permanently stuck at rank 500 I wonder if there would be support for the triviabot to either get overhauled or updated (if it is deemed worthy of your time Izzy) |

Trivia questions purchased from reliable sources are stupidly expensive. We have about 1500 bucks invested in trivia questions, then to augment the numbers we included a bunch of free sources (which was a mistake looking back, a lot of them are junk). Budget wise, purchasing more questions are not really at the top of our list right now. Adding other free sources will likely just compound the problem by adding duplicate questions, and other incorrect ones since a large majority of the sources I've looked at are just a data dump of other unverified sources. What sucks is the places that sell trivia questions don't really have a category for people like us. They sell to huge companies with huge budgets, or they sell in tiny quantities for single events. Purchasing 200k unique questions (or a quantity large enough so its not just a repeating cycle all the time) is waaay above my budget. There are a few bugs in the software we use to power triviabot, I've fixed the low hanging fruit but its basically just patching up really old crappy code with more duct tape and popsicle sticks. The real solution is to just write my own down the road, but realistically I won't have the time to do that until after the dust settles and the new version of MR is complete and battle tested. I love trivia, and it will always be a favorite of mine, but there is no easy and quick answer to refresh it up to be better at this time. :( |

Long, long, long ago; Divinelunacy mIRC days, there was a #trivia channel on there (It also used to give you in-game money for your score on a weekly basis which was pretty cool but probably not a good idea to implement now)
Do we not have access to that pool of questions anymore? I know there are some proper hoarders and people who still have a LOT of stuff from those days, might be worth asking around. It isn't Mafia specific questions but it was pretty decent and a lot of fun to play

You know what, I view Trivia as that crappy board game where some of the pieces are missing, no-one remembers the rules but to get all the pieces and proper rules would just ruin in. I love the stupid questions, the errors and the ridiculous hints for "Which year did such and such happen? 1***" :D |
