OUR LUCKY EIGHTH WRITING CONTEST!!!

"My friends, this is an exciting opportunity.  An opportunity for you, a competitive writer, to win TWENTY ONE MILLION DOLLARS, and for us, in the Competitive Writing Community (CWC) to reemphasise our vision for this wider society to enjoy the Streets their busy best. 

Friends, we, the leading and guiding lights of the CWC, recognise and accept that, in some cases, there have been flaws in the judging processes historically.  With this in mind, and having listened to some of your non-slanderous feedback, we have created a three person judging panel.  We hope for a large number of entrants, given the prize and the new spirit of trust and faith that we have fought for and won.

EVERY SINGLE ENTRANT JUDGED COMPLIANT WITH THE REGULATIONS* WILL BE AWARDED AN ENTRY PRIZE OF TWO MILLION DOLLARS!

The speech should be given here in the streets, and a transcript pinned to this noticeboard. 

The speech should be no more than FOUR HUNDRED WORDS and should be about this society that we live in, preferably within living memory.

One entry per person.  Speeches to be submitted by midnight, a week yesterday.

There will be prizes for 2nd and 3rd place.

THIS IS AN EXCITING OPPORTUNITY TO WIN MONEY FOR YOURSELF, PRESTIGE FOR YOU CREW, AND TO BRING HAPPINESS AND JOY TO THE STREETS.  NAYSAYERS AND SABOTEURS WILL BE IGNORED AND BANNED FROM ENTERING THIS CONTEST, SHOULD THEY ATTEMPT TO DISRUPT IT.

Just a quick note to say that, despite Armageddon apparently happening, the writing contest is BUSINESS AS USUAL!!

Nara was sipping a coffee when the news hit the cafe on his corner. 

There was a small group of associates milling about the tables of this fine Phillidephia establishment The news traveled like a wave of murmours and as it passed the low rumble of conversations turning privately turned tward one another.

Nara stood and in his booming voice commanded the entire street.

Friends, I hear of storm clouds on the horizon. Growing darkness and unease. We still are haunted by the ghosts of friends we have lot and ther moans all echo the same thing "You will join us soon". Everywhere I look your eyes all say our days are numbered. I want to tell you they are. 

Our lives were always numbered, the moment you were born you have been counting them down. Nobody knows how many they get if you live for one or one hundred thousand. You can be the great Chairman or a Civilian and you put your pants on one leg at a time and you will both be buried just as deep. You arrive and leave with nothing but what you leave here. 

So what do we do? The same thing we do every day. Hustle, train, rally together round our family Those of us who survive the storm will build again continuing the countown to our last tick. 

But most of all make every tick count. 

He runs off to do what he can with whatever time he has left in this current incarnation as the odd little sternographer who always seems to be here with him when he makes a speech types it out into longhand and posts it on a lamp pole. It was a old weathered lamp pole with a olive green paint. Beginning to chip in places leaving little tetragonial windows

(noticing Nara far ahead the sternographer ends here and runs after him)

Now, I don't want Chris_Vaughn to get his knickers in a knot, but I was almost shot dead the last time I left this here lamppost, so I'm not really in the right headspace to absorb this speech.  But I will get to it soon.

Looking at the copy of Nara's speech he shakes his head. While not his last words it would be his last printed ones. How Ironic
