Its October 21st, 1934, a cold and bitter day with the sky looking dark and gray. As she crosses the street rain drops start to fall. Catalina pulls out her umbrella and opens it up. She reaches the other side of the street and looks through the window inside a bar. She notices glamourous people inside having a good time. They were all drinking, dancing and talking among themselves. She thinks to herself...why can't I be like that. I am just a lonely gangster trying to make ends meet.

A couple of people notice her looking through the window and stare back at her. They exchange stares and quickly Catalina disappears into the streets. She thinks she has gotten away but someone from behind grabs her shoulder and tells her wait. She turns around and sees one the people she exchanged stares with.

Excuse me madame. If I may have a moment please...
Hudson removes his trench coat and gently drapes it over her shoulders .

You must be new in town, as I would certainly not forget such a pretty face so easily. My name is Hudson. putting out his hand .

Hudson takes note of the tension on her face, those piercing eyes so beautiful, so full of mystery ... So unpredictable. He somehow feels that leaving bar so abruptly may have been a terrible mistake on his part, possibly his last. He slowly pats his side to ensure that his gun in place as a feeling of unease rushes over his body. The rain coming down seemily harder as each second passed was running down the back of his neck, and he too was now chilled to the bone. .

" If you would accept my invitation to come inside for a drink, the food here is second to none, we can sit by the fire to warm you up and perhaps get more aquainted. It is bitter cold out here today and I will not take no for an answer".
Oh, that was intelligent, start throwing out demands to a person you so untrust, one that has you so dumb founded that you are clearly not thinking this through. What could have lead you into into this trap. How could you have been so careless?

Catalina feeling a little awkward, stands there and is quiet. After the gentleman invited her to join, she starts to smile. She takes his hand and gently pulls him underneath her umbrella and walks back to the bar. They enter the bar and Hudson pulls a seat for Catalina.

I have never been here before. What is good here to have?

Hudson takes his seat and orders for her.

The table was situated beside the fireplace as requested, away from the crowd and the pool tables where Hudson felt his guest would be more comfortable. Besides, that fire was just what they both needed about now .

When the waiter arrived, Hudson ordered the food and a variety of drinks then whispered to the waiter to bring him another shirt as his was now water spotted from that sudden escapade outside and he was always very conscience about his appearance. A brief moment passed when a member of the establishment motioned him over to a small hallway beside the kitchen entrance holding a freshly pressed shirt .

"If I may excuse myself for just a moment madame".

He then rushes over to the hallway to quickly change, only then realizing he still does not know her name. In fact, he knows nothing about this woman yet she entrigues him so. Could it be the strange turn of events that lead them to meet in this way, for he has never behaved like this in the presence of a woman ... not any woman. Why here, why now? Why does this one seem to have such power over him, power strong enough to draw him from the building out into the street at the drop of a hat? So many unanswered questions ...

They take a seat next to the fireplace and it was so comfortable for Catalina, since she felt cold and wet. The gentleman excuses himself and went out of Catalina's sight. She grabs a bunch of napkins and dries herself off. She then pulls out her small mirror from her bag she carries and opens its.

Gosh, I look horrible.

She powders herself and fixes her hair. She takes another look in the mirror.

That is much better.

The gentleman returns but looks a little bit different from five minutes ago. She notices he is wearing a new shirt and likes it.

I am so sorry, I think we have not officially introduce ourselves. My name is Catalina_Piera. I am kind of new around here so I really don't what I am doing. I enjoy music, arts, and I love animals especially cats.

How about you?

She sits back and waits for him to speak.

Well I`m very please to meet you. Sorry about the interruption, I meant it not to be rude in any way. Would you care for a drink?

Hudson pops the top off the champagne and pours two glasses. He raises his glass to the lady and says . "strangers no longer", even though they are in fact still complete strangers.

Still puzzled by the way this woman suddenly appeared out of seemily no where and running away like she did, Hudson is starting to realize that this woman truely was full of fear, or so it seemed, but of what, of whom? .

"If you are in any kind of trouble Catalina, I just may be of some help. If you simply just need some company, a friendly face to shoot the breeze wtih, then I can help you there too".
Refilling the glasses, he takes notice of how elegant this woman is, not like that of a gangster, but more that of a dancer, model perhaps? .

It's quite alright. I understand you are busy fellow.

She takes a sip of her drink and continues.

I am not in any trouble, just looking for good loyal people to hang out with. In these streets, its hard to trust somebody.

She thinks to herself...Is this man trustworthy or like one of the others. She hopes this man is different.

She takes another sip of her drink and pauses because she knows he is about to speak.

The waiters brought the meals and a second bottle of champagne. They begin eating and conversing. He refills the glasses once again. Once the couple was finished, the tables were cleared and they chatted back and forth for another hour until the champagne expired .

I have had a very good time today with your joining me for dinner and such. Would you care for a dance Catalina?.

She takes her napkin and wipes her mouth after finishing her meal with Hudson. He nods to the band to play a song for them. The music was sweet and heart warming.

Oh why yes.

He takes her hand and they walk to the center of the dance floor and begin to dance.
Report Post Tip
They danced well togeather. For a full straight hour they graced the floor while the others gathered to watch. Her hair smelled so wonderful and her skin so soft to the touch.
He turned to look at her face to face as she was about to speak ...

Wow, I haven't dance like that before. It was wonderful.

How about we have one more drink? And I will like to have a nice cigar.

Hudson orders her drink and pulls out a cigar and lights it up for her.

This has been a wonderful evening, thanks to you.

Letting the last swallow of his drink slide down he looks to his watch knowing full well he has several runs to make before evening sets upons us .

Well Catalina. I would like to stay longer, much longer in fact, but I fear to say I have duties to tend to. Could I give you a lift home perhaps or will you be staying here longer?
Report Post Tip
I think I will be staying here for awhile.

She waves him goodbye as he leaves.
Report Post Tip
Waving back to her he says, " the pleasure has been mine". Wiping the lip stick from his cheek as he exits the doorway supporting an ear to ear grin, It truely was.
Report Post Tip
Checking his watch and getting slightly annoyed Kerney has been sitting outside the bar for almost an hour finally after reaching the point where he is ready to walk into the bar and drag Hudson out he sees Hudson exiting the bar
