Look at me, here and now I’m a lowly goomba (just turned) I’m making my way in life doing the things expected of me and hopefully beginning, just beginning, to get noticed by my Capos. I work hard, not as hard as some but harder than most - I’m a lucky one. My family can trace back their ancestry here for a damned long time and so a trust fund is available for use once one of us feels the need to tread the boards - so to speak.

Im stood here thinking to myself, I’ve made a fresh start. Only thing related to me and my ancestors is the trust fund. Their past successes and transgressions I have no knowledge of only scraps of paper that are worthless. That’s how it should be - that’s how the Gods like it but there are some scurrilous ruffians out there who like to hold the bone and gnaw at it.  Occasionally they are found out and dealt swiftly with but more often their dens of iniquity remain plastered with notes, ledgers and pictures of ancestral lines given the first opportunity they would expunge. If that very final opportunity does not come about then the subject of their will find themselves stymied hitting a glass ceiling before dying in their sleep... and that brings me to the next subject on my mind. Bloodboosting.

I put it to you all, if bloodlining is an activity punishable by death what difference is there between bloodboosting?  There are many thugs, gangsters and unmade members of families running around holding vastly important positions in crews - how can this be? How does it make the made members of that family feel when they see a street bum pulling rank? Is something broken or is lit just my incessant need to keep things clean coming to the fore?

This subject interests me greatly, how can we hope to entice fresh blood into this thing of ours if the old blood is boosted in rank continually. The boosted putting no work in at all and getting the opportunity of experience that should be offered to those holding a button. If you’re still here and still listening I thank you. Debate is what made these streets shine, please feel free to share your thoughts and specifically not a story - there are business districts, comic book shops for that.

But why respect a child? What has it achieved apart from stacking blocks on top of another. Just because a father was great does not mean the child will be. Let the newcomer earn that respect, start from the bottom.

Your view on the way things are is exactly to point of my debate- I feel more notice should be given to those made members of a family rather than a newly minted thug.

I understand your point I really do.

But having your father prove that your bloodline is trustworthy does have its benefits, I have seen and my grandfather has been on the wrong side of the gods that have decided to put him in jail for extended periods because of the action of his RH's actions that he decided to "give a chance"

I think until Crew leaders are not help responsible for their hands actions by the gods then this will always be a thing.

The problem Is many of times my parents have gave someone new the opportunity to prove themselves they have failed them and he has been penalised for it.

How could this have been avoided you ask?

Give the position to the child of his most trustworthy associate.

The point I ma making is no matter who you are you can make a name for yourself and then your bloodline may receive these privileges 

A well made point, I have been having a similar debate in private and the discussions had also reflect the synopsis above.

However my initial thoughts were to debate is there is difference between blood lining and blood boosting? They seem very close and at the same time can be argued they are far apart.  It’s how we fix this oxymoron in the streets as it just doesn’t seem to sit right.

Im not saying blood boosting is wrong or right but wondered how we can make it work inside the mechanics of the world the Gods offer us.

A mafiosos nature is to respect those who he trusts the most, if we consider each time we are born here the slate is to be wiped clean of any shit our ancestors may have deposited should it not also be wiped clean of the good things they have done? A difficult conundrum for us and the Gods to solve...

Its a very hard situation to do anything about, the gods could only put a ban on anyone under a certain rank to be put into a position of hand, but what would this do? we would end up with many Crew Leaders without anyone set as their RH or LH.

Bloodlining is a different story completely lets take a look at the story Romeo and Juliet For many years their family's were at war It did not matter if you were born into it. However they did prove that this can be changed, but the Children have to make the effort to build bridges, if they decide to sit in the dark hidden in the shadows conspiring against the people who killed their father, then they absolutely should be bloodlined.

There are many cases where Bloodlining could be prevented from a conversation and to offer up forgiveness

My thanks for engaging with me here, I think we all know the whys and where fore’s associated with the treacherous acts of bloodlining a thug who has shown no signs of following their ancestors footpaths however and again apologies for repeating myself it is the regularity of boosting that I feel still needs further consideration.

I have since read through transcripts of a recent discussion held outside of this street and combined with the points raised here I’m beginning to understand the dilemma our leaders have. It’s about trust, ultimately. Trust is earned and it seems the Gods are willing to let us trust and believe in reincarnation. A very difficult thing to fix where the living breathing mafioso here living their role out day to day on the streets has the ability to transcend this living life and discuss things in the metaphysical realm of the coffee shops where life times last and have lasted for multiple years - the average age of a living breathing mobster is around 50 days.

(OOC - maybe consider the average lifespan of a mobster similar to ‘dog years’ where 2 living days is equivalent to 1 normal year)

As we are here for such a brief moment it may not be possible for those in power to trust a new face in the crowd. This results in the blood boosting I speak about but what choice else is there? I may visit the local church, pray a little and hope that a God hears my witterings and a seed of change is sown into the physical.
