Mick's Mafia Career Started by: Mick on Feb 17, '20 16:11

Day 1

What an adventurous first day of the job! Mick had hardly started getting to know his family when the war broke out, making him double think his decision of joining the Mafia world. His family was relatively new and consisted of just few members, so if a big bad gang decided to gang up on them, they were dead meat.

But what was done was done, and he had to sail on the boat like everyone else. He had already earned more in the first day than he had earned in the last five years working at his uncle’s restaurant, so the risk was worth it.

Gladly, the war was over soon, and they survived. There was some monetary damage, but at least they were safe, and he did his bit helping out his family. Hopefully, the second day wouldn’t be that adventurous.

Day 2

His last name was something else, but people called him Mick Stick because he was very skinny and tall.

So, the second day was no better than the first day because he got caught by the police due to his inexperience. If it was not for MrsChiff, his boss, he could have been locked away for some time. It was very embarrassing, and he decided to do something about it as he couldn’t expect his boss to save his butt every time he got caught. The boss got better things to do.

So, he decided to find a cop that he could bribe, so he didn’t have to bother his boss every time. The crooked cop asked for a lot of money, but Mick, who had run a small restaurant for his uncle, had a business mind, so he knew that the investment would pay off in the long run.

Day 3

Mick had realized by now that to earn a lot of money, he had to sell drugs. He had been running between dealer to dealer buying and selling drugs, but that took a big chuck of his day, and as a person who had run a business in the past, he knew that this was not the ideal way of doing things.

He could hire some people to work for him, but he was new to this world and didn’t have much influence to get people to work for him, so he was trying to find alternative ways to use his time to do smart work instead of hard work.

With the war ending recently, a lot of speakeasies were shut down as their owners died. Mick decided to hunt around for a place where he could start his own speakeasy. A good place, hidden from the cops, was hard to find, but Mick was very lucky to find an unattended place and immediately took control of it. He couldn’t believe his luck, but now he needed to take full advantage of the opportunity and grow his new business.

Day 4

When Mick thought that the things had calmed down between the gangbangers, he couldn’t be so wrong. The war turned fierce. More people died, more mob bosses got wiped out, and more gangs were dismantled.

This was not why Mick had joined this world. He didn’t want to kill or get killed. He just wanted to make a quick buck, but now this, and a day ago him witnessing a cold blooded murder of a lowly gang member in the streets made him fear for his life, and he decided to do something about it.

He had seen his boss RichardWad walking around with a bunch of bodyguards, and Mick decided to hire some for his own safety. They were very costly, and Mick didn’t have loads of money to hire an army of bodyguards, but Mick was able to hire some low experienced bodyguards on a cheap rate. It wasn’t much security, but for now, that would do.

Day 5

The things were looking better and stable now. The fear of gangs banging each other had dried down, as the so-called regime was dead. Mick being new to this world didn’t know much about them, but people were telling him that it was good news, and it seemed that way. For now.

Mick was now earning a stable income from his speakeasy. Right now, he was selling Hashish, but soon he would have enough money to start selling expensive drugs in a large quantity, resulting in more money. He was also hiring more bodyguards to protect himself from evil eyes. It looked like that he was on a path to create a name for himself.

Day 6

Mick was coming out of the bank after depositing the excess cash he had. The things were going really well for him, and he was very happy. He still had some cash in his wallet that he was going to use to buy some Hashish to fill his speakeasy’s stock. He noticed a few people staring at him as he came out of the bank. The streets were known for pickpockets, and there had been an occasion when someone tried to pickpocket him but failed and ran away. Mick noticed some movement in his pocket, but he could easily be imagining things because he was thinking about pickpockets. He put his hand inside his pocket and found his wallet intact. He signed in relief and kept walking. Little did he know that someone named MadameMayhem had indeed attempted to pickpocket him. And that someone was from his own family…

Day 7

Mick felt that he was growing too fast.  Yesterday, he was given an opportunity to recruit people for the crew by MrsChiff. The job was only given to the trusted people, and it seemed that he had earned that trust, which made him delighted, but it also put him a bit under pressure. It was a very important and sensitive job, and Mick didn’t want to mess it up by recruiting some inept people to the crew.

At the same time, Mick was going to have a little crew of his own by recruiting people, which could make things easier him. He could delegate tasks to his crew and work less. He had been working continuously since the last week and didn’t have any time to spend the money he had earned. But that was going to change.

Day 8

Mick was very busy in his speakeasy today selling his last load of Hashish. He had finally earned enough money to upgrade his speakeasy to sell Barbiturates, which meant more income for him and his family.

Now, not all his customers were going to have big pockets to buy Barbiturates, and they might turn away to other speakeasies. So, Mick, being business minded, decided to give some of his loyal customers a one-time 50% discount from his pocket, so they could make some extra money selling his drugs, and return back to him to buy more stock using some of their profits. That would be a win-win situation for everyone.

Looking at the list of names of his loyal customers, a name PlagueDoctor struck him. The dude worked for his family and was a very loyal customer of his shop, and he was going to be the first customer to get a discount offer.

Day 9

Another day, another pile of dead bodies. Live and let live was Mick’s motto. Not you die and I live. Mick was still trying to understand why the families were at each other’s throats. There was obviously some history behind it, and Mick was the new kid on the block, so it might take him some time to understand the reason behind the recent purges. But why not everyone could simply coexist? Why one had to die for the other to live? Mick would probably never be able to understand that.

Perhaps they were all a bunch of insecure and paranoid people. Perhaps they just sought more power or money, but didn’t they realize that it would not be handed to them in a plate, and there would be consequences? Like death? Weren’t they afraid of dying?

Perhaps someone needed to sit down with them, bring everyone together, and created a system of trust, so everyone could thrive and make money without the fear of death? Wasn’t there someone who could take the initiative? Perhaps Mick could try and take the initiative when he became well known in the world of ours, if he lived that long…

Day 10

Today was a very special day for Mick. He had finally become an official part of the family, but it was no surprise to him. After all, he had busted his arse to reach this stage. He had dug a lot of dead bodies to earn money for his family, but the days of digging graves were over now, and now he could focus on the bigger crimes.

However, he didn’t like the approach taken by his leaders RichardWad and MrsChiff for inducting him into the family, especially MrsChiff, who had almost given him a semi heart attack. She could have at least told him or given him a hint when she had asked him to hop in the car, but she kept chatting about the other stuff. For a slight moment, Mick had wanted to take out his piece, pop her, and jump out of the car because the woman talked too much, and all her talking was making him very nervous and suspicious, but he didn’t have the guts or a good enough aim to do that. He would have missed even if he had aimed at himself. That’s how bad his aim was.

Finally, they reached the HQ, and he got escorted to the boss’ office where he gave him praise for the jobs done so far followed by informing him of his official status with the family. He sighed in relief, said thank you, vowed to work harder, and left the premises making different plans in his head about how he would use his new status.

(OOC: This should be obvious, but since it doesn’t seem to be, whatever you read here are the thoughts of the character (Mick) and not the thoughts of the handler (Faraz) who plays Mick. It’s an in-character post. Thank you. :))

Day 11

Mickey Smith, Mick Slick, or Mick as people called him, was going to take a break from work today. Today, Mick had decided to hit the streets and meet the new leaders who had taken place of the fallen leaders. He had been informed that all the new crew leaders were going to give individual speeches on how they were going to run their families, and what’s next in store for their cities. As the Made Man, Mick felt that it was his responsibility to meet all the leaders, hear what they had to say about the future, and report his findings to his leader. Perhaps he could make friends with some of the new leaders and build a trusting relationship with them, so they could support each other in the future in this thing of ours instead of getting at each other’s throats, like what had been going on since the day Mick joined this world.

Day 12

Mick was in his office when he got the following letter from someone named DewittBonk.

Subject: A Bodyguard employment proposition

It's been a bad few years, America has been down on her luck and guys like me never stood a chance. I watched guys who'd been hired after me all get canned and crossed my fingers, hoping for a lucky break. I mean, I'm single, don't got no kids, means I can work longer and harder right? Not in my case. My luck folded like a house of cards and before I had a chance to land, I was out in the street.I've been hungry and cold, I've done things I'm not proud of and ended up places like the Philadelphia jail. And then you come, like an angel with dirty wings, and break me out of here. I can't tell you how grateful I am that you busted me outta here. In fact, words won't do the job but how about this? I can work for you, keep you safe you know? How does that sound Mick? Sound like a deal?

Mick had busted out a lot of his crew members from the jail, and Dewitt must be one of the prisoners in one of those lockers. Nonetheless, the proposition sounded good to Mick. It was hard to win loyalty nowadays.

Day 13

Mick was in his office when Steve, one of the bodyguards, walked in with his face fuming.

“What’s the matter, Steve?” Mick looked at him, hoping that he wasn’t there to ask for a raise.

“Bloody Durdens!” Steve exclaimed, gritting his teeth.

“Those lowlife thugs? I told you we don’t want to do anything with them. Let others handle them and focus our energies elsewhere,” Mick said.

“Yes, but those thugs have now started raiding our warehouses! They think that we are weak to fight them.  We need to take the fight back to them!” Steve said, waving his fist.

“You are right. Let’s show them who the boss is!” Mick stood up from his chair, punching the desk. Now, he was fuming, too. “Gather up the folks in the ground, so we can prepare for the raid!”
