Enrico brushes off a soapbox mostly used by his father and those before him. Living in this upside-down world required a man to keep his lips a little tighter these days. Just before stepping up to the podium, DafneCalabrese stepped forward and pulled Enrico's handkerchief from his pocket. She wiped away a bit of Wolverine's blood that was still splattered across the man's face.

"Why would I do such a thing?

"I believe that is the question you are all wondering. I think it is pretty obvious, isn't it? This world has been taken over by a plague that will do nothing good for us here.

Four died a brutal death because DougRoss can't control his pistol when his temper flares. Color me shocked when my own Godfather Chairman Hoth tells me that nothing will come from it. Oh, he was offering to purge someone from DougRoss's crew in return. I see the strings being pulled behind the curtain. It's not hard when you realize DougRoss could probably give two shits about most of the people in his crew. 

Rogue Regime. Why is that important? It sets the whole mindset for this group pulling the strings across the country. You see if you live in that mindset, you see the world through rogue colored glasses. You see the world that way and you start thinking honest, loyal mafioso are rogues. You start feeling like anyone around you is a wolf in sheep's clothing. That leads to a world caked in shit. That leads to a world where I am told that it would be in my best interests to kill within a day JackRyan, who's blood did nothing to deserve it in this life.

Fuck that. Other cities don't get to call the shot's here in 12th Street. I know they have the lean on Hoth and what he does apparently, but I will not sit by and let the other cities tell me who gets to live or die here any longer. Am I breaking my loyalty to my Godfather Chairman?

This was the first step in the direction we need to take this world of ours. This is the path that needs to be taken. Inaction is agreeance. I'll not be known as a man that stands along those too paranoid to ever make a new connection.

Enrico stepped down off the box and kissed his wife before giving the crowd a wave goodbye. 

Yet you shot wolverine and not me.  

Albus, in town for a big drug deal, stops dead in his tracks. The powerful words of the speaker has caught his attention. As the speaker starts to get emotional, Albus' face turns white. Peeking over his shoulder, looking for familiar faces, he thinks to himself with that familiar feeling in his gut.

'Why am I always at the wrong place at the wrong time? How will I explain this to my sponsor?'

As the crowd disperses, Albus lowers his hat and blends in as best he can. Newspaper in hand as a decoy, he closely eyes the speaker, trying to make note of the direction his convoy is headed. After the last car leaves the square, Albus darts off in the opposite direction, alternating between a speed walk and a light jog. 

After a while, he feels comfortably distant, choosing a lowly motel as his hideout. He shows his ID, signs the book, and heads off to his room with key in hand, to carefully wait for the next train's arrival.

Checks his watch.

Don't be silly, dougie. Everyone knows who was pulling the strings, and it wasn't you. Wolverine was the brains, you are merely a tool, allowed to live on because you are close to berserker and spineless enough to comply. You weren't worth the first shot. You'll end up getting moody and shooting your girlfriend again and the end goal will be completed regardless.

Let’s be real here DougRoss, killed half his own city and isn’t much of a threat. Wolverine has been beautifully masterminding this takeover for months, it’s only a shame he was shot instead of Berserker. No man should be allowed to take claim for what he did not earn.
