Kelly Print Shop Started by: MissNiki on Feb 26, '20 21:53

She had just received the latest print equipment available,  The Bobst Autovariable. It had been delivered yesterday and installed this afternoon in the storefront she had rented after she rented her new apartment. It looked like Detroit might be a profitable venture for her after all. Kevin__Kelly didn't know what she had been up to, it was a surprise. There was a basement, with access from the backroom, which meant they could run booze or drugs and no one would be the wiser.

She had painted the walls a soft grey and hung the cherry blossom paintings she had shipped to her from her New York apartment. She added two cozy armchairs and a console table by the front window. She lay a soft grey wool rug in front of the counter that held the cash register. She painstakingly painted Kelly Print Shop on the door in big bold blue letters.  She hung examples of the types of print they could do, flyers, newspapers and even small pamphlets.

She had just hired an errand boy. His name was Thomas O'Bannon. He was probably about 13 years old. He would be sweeping floors, and running packages to the other crew members. The clerk she hired was a beautiful busty blonde named Margaret. She knew that Kevin would be endlessly flirting with the poor girl, but, it always helped to have a beauty behind the counter. The third person she hired would be doing the printing. He was an older man she met whilst she was at the Detroit prison. He was being released after doing a  year stint and had decided he wanted to go straight. The name he gave her was Bob Jones. That was what she called him. He seemed capable and would spend the next couple of days learning to run the autovariable printing press.

She hung a sign listing pricing.

Flyer 1 Page - 1 - cent

Flyers 5 Pages - 4 cents

Flyers 50 pages - 40 cents

When she was done, she glanced around to make sure everything was just as she wanted it. She smiled, tomorrow morning they would open the doors and her business. They were going to fit in nicely here in Detroit, she thought to herself as she locked the door and headed down the street to her new apartment.

Report Post Tips: 1 / Total: $20,000 Tip

What a difference it a day makes. MissNiki called Bob to come and help her board up the windows. Kelly print shop wouldn't be opening for a while. She had bought the place to surprise her brother, but, he had eaten his own gun this morning rather than to die on someone else's terms. She honestly didn't know everything that had happened, and was learning bits and pieces. But she knew that she couldn't open this shop right now. Her heart was crushed and maybe someday, she would feel whole enough to come back to Detroit to open it. But that time wasn't now.

She paid Thomas a tidy sum, even though he had never done the first bit of work for her, he was a good kid, and maybe the money would help his parents keep him out of this life, maybe they could move from this god forsaken city and start over, on a farm, with cows and no mobsters. She handed Bob 500 dollars, in hopes it would help him get on the straight and narrow.  She knew there was no turning back for her, for this is the life that she had chosen.

As she pulled the keys from her purse to lock up once more, she glanced around before shutting off the lights, and took a deep breath. She could imagine she smelled Kevin's cologne and let the smell relax her. She exhaled slowly, before locking the door to go to their apartments to pack up their personal belongings and move to Philly, where she had take a job.

Report Post Tip

He went into Kelly Printshop, he needed a load of flyers that told that his best friends were about to get married and wanted  so many as possible to his wedding so his bride should be impressed over him faster.

"hey, I want 100 flyers and heres what I wants to be printed on there" He gives the printer-man a paper where all things is written that he wants to be put on the flyers, the man says he can make it done in a few hours, splendid  I be back then in an hour and a half he says to the printer, he gives him a dollar for the order and thanks him and then walks out to see if he could get a drink somewhere near from here.
