Sitting in a bar, Vincent and Valerie each had a drink in their hands. Neither spoke about the recent determination that was coming forth from them. It seemed like it could not be discussed but they both knew that eventually, they would have to discuss what was happening. They could not leave it alone like this, it deserved to be brought up in some way.

"Chances are that he won't even be here for you to even lay this on him, the emerald city is out of our reach. It is not a job we will be getting anytime soon Vincent. Tell me, why did you even go that far? What took you to that point?"

Vincent stared silently ahead, he didn't even know what took him that far. All he knew was that the fire inside him had burned, he did not want to play second fiddle to that of his lesser peers. He knew the Rugia crew was one that had plenty of soldiers ready to prove themselves. Only he wanted to be the one that showed them all how it was done.

He didn't know how to answer his compass right now, she was proving to be a willing and silent partner. She did not wish to place herself above him in terms of how this would work, they knew how this business worked and even if he could give her a place here, it would not be respected.

"I know. I wanted to get this over and done with. I've fought with this for too long Valerie, back in England, where my family meant something. Not Sicily, not the old country, the old ways are everywhere and I decided to take that with me over here. I wanted to make sure that people knew who I could become."

A matter of respect for Vincent, his family, the Carelo family, while one of the newest ruling organizations in England. They proved they could take anything and turn it into gold. Since the fall of the old regime in London, the Carelo family had decided to swoop in like saviors and brought in new ways of adjusting to the life. They stuck to their ways, they knew how it was but they had introduced new things.

Gone were the days of a singular ruling family, the Carelo's had decided to place themselves with a council of other families around England. It had been called a Commission, Since then, England had never seen a greater period of prosperity.

"You wanted to show your prestige, your renown, your skill. It's understandable, you wanted to make your bones. Only you have to realize, trying to get to the boss is not exactly easy. At best, you'll speak with the underboss. Oh look, here he comes and not a minute late, these guys really do believe in being on time. Good thing for us."

Stepping up to their booth was Federico Falcani, born in Sicily, he was a mobster that believed in the old ways. He operated with the criminal side of the Las Vegas syndicate. The man sat down, ordering himself a coffee and noticing the Irishwoman as well as the new comer to their little business, Vincent Carelo.

He never said anything for a while, checking his notebook for a moment before snapping his fingers and a button-man stepped forward. Placing a thick brown envelope on the table, it seemed like business was being done right before the newest associates of the syndicate and no one was batting an eye.

"That is seventy-five thousand dollars for the first take of the day, this is what your New York deal brought. We now operate with the Lombardi family and all the crews are getting a slice, while Paulie, god bless his soul, may not recognize your talents. The boss and I do, you'll both take five grand each from this deal."

Neither of the two said anything for a while, nothing was being discussed about the possible Emerald City deal and they both knew that is why they came here. Federico or 'Derek' as he was known to those in the crews had barely looked up from his notebook as he continued talking.

Finally his coffee had arrived, his eyes had looked up and thanking the syndicate chef, Rico. Now those cold icy eyes looked at them, neither had moved or decided to turn their eyes down, knowing that was a sign of weakness or being intimidated by the mad man before them.

"Now me and the boss, we recognize your talents, we know who you are and where you originate from. Operational moves into different cities are usually Caporegime moves, don't get too big for your shoes now Vincent. I like ya, you're a good kid. This life is never too kind with kids like yourself, still I want you to stay calm and rest up. You'll get your due, alright?"

Vincent knew that it was going to be shot down, he had his hopes but in the end, nothing else could have happened. Such a move was a big one, nothing like that was going to fly with the Syndicate. Even though he worked for them, there were tons of other crews around Vegas, making their own cash and being their own bosses.

"I know Derek, thanks for this. You need me for something?"

Derek raised his eyebrow for a second, he did need the kid for something and this would be kept off the books. It would be more like baby-sitting duty but the kid was obviously looking for something, trying to prove himself and trying to see what he could do to assist in the business end of things.

People like that, they made for good scapegoats but in general were the ones who sometimes made it. With the Irishwoman right next to him, keeping him a little on track, maybe he could do something different. He could become something different in this life.

"Yeah, we got a package that needs to be taken to Summerlin. I can't let this get into the wrong hands if you catch my drift, I'm trusting you here kid."

Sharing a look with the Irishwoman, both of them knew that this was not the regular type of delivery job. It probably involved a shipment that came from New York. Something that had their interest, he nodded his head and motioned for a drink before he left. He was given the location of the cargo before Derek left, knowing that he was being trusted with a truly important job for the family.

Valerie had stood by this all, knowing that Vincent still wanted his chance and he saw it here right now. She loved the man, he was always looking for that moment in which he would be given the button that everyone else had earned in this life but here he was. The common goon looking to make a name for himself, he was the one that came here, looking to become one of the few Carelo's out here that became a somebody.

"Don't even ask Vincent, I'm going to be there with ya and seeing you through this. Every step of the way I'm going to be there, so when are we going or you going to finish that drink first?"

Shaking his head with a grin, Vincent knocked back the drink that he had motioned for and knew that it was time. Time to get to work and make sure that everyone would soon know the name, Vincent Carelo.

Arriving at the warehouse had been something of a spectacle, they ran into Joe Salero. A fellow soldier of the Rugia Crew who had been placed on watch. When he saw them, a grin came onto his lips at the sight of  Valerie, though the Irishwoman had gone straight to the truck, deciding to wait until Joe and Vincent would be done with their little reunion.

"Joe...look at you, been some time since we worked together. What are you doing here man? I thought you would have been with Nero or Frankie, I thought they were up in Detroit doing some business. I hear they're dong some good business over there."

Joe nodded all the same, looking down at the ground for a single moment before deciding that was enough. He was not going to wallow and look at himself differently. He knew it was a different matter than that, still, it did hurt being left out of those jobs, it felt like he was not valued by the bosses and men that he worked with.

"Yeah so do I but here I am, nothing changes around here. Only news I've heard so far is the big New York deal. Apparently a lot of people have been left out of that, and with the Rugia Crew leading things there. It kinda makes us Associates look a little different at things man. Like we aren't valued, who's to say we can't do the same thing they're doing?"

And like that....Vincent had an idea, something that would possibly get him and his partners killed but this life was all about chances, this was theirs. Looking to the side, Valerie had always sworn she would be there for him, this was the moment where everything came into play.

"Joe, I think you've just come up with a fantastic idea. One that is either going to kill us or make us one of the difference makers in Las Vegas, grab your things and get in the truck. We've got some business to discuss..."

Joe nodded, leaving Vincent to speak with Valerie as she looked at him with true loyalty that could never be faked. He did wonder what he had done to gain such a loyal companion out of her, she was following him into the unknown, not looking back and trying to seem like she was scared because he knew, she was.

"You ready for this Vin?"

The would-be plotter looked up at the night sky, his eyes narrowed for a moment and a peaceful clarity had settled in his mind. This  was the only moment where he was going to be sure of what he wanted, they would not be getting this elsewhere. Certainly not with the Syndicate.

"Hell yeah I am, I'm ready to make my life different and make sure that everyone remembers my name."
