The oath we took Started by: BrunoDsGBF on Feb 24, '08 18:49
I spent a lot of time in a city full or organized crime. But a city that none of us around here frequent.

Sometimes I feel like I'm in a completely different world. Where even the top people, I have to wonder if they ever had their finger pricked while a card of their saint burned in their hands. If I say that and you don't know what I'm talking about, then my speculations are true without debate.

There are different kinds of leaders in this thing of ours. Some are introverted and some are not. Some treat their crew like friends, others treat them more like the military. To each his own, there is no right or wrong in there. A good leader leads his family well and keeps his people alive.

But no leader ever needs to, and in my opinion no leader ever should, stand on a street corner crowded with civilians and people who aren't a part of this thing, and talk about what they do or why they do it. Everything we do everyday is illegal in the terms of the laws. Our very existence is supposed to be secret to the eyes of those outside it.

Talking about who we kill or why, especially with such detail and such frequency is against the oath we all took one day in that basement or warehouse or wherever you got your button.

I don't agree with the civilians either, that pop up and cry about what happened to x, y, z. But they are civilians. They aren't a part of this thing. They aren't in this life. They don't live by our code.

But we do.

At least we are supposed to.

There does not seem to be any right or wrong way to go about la cosa nostra in this world of ours, only what the community expect.

If people want to know something, they'll call people mutes or bad leaders for not telling them, it's the way things are. If those in power decide however that we are going to do things a new way, who are we to say no?

You got a button? I knew I was getting ripped off. He gave me a slice of American cheese (which really isn't even cheese) and a kick in the pants.

I said what I needed to say. I didn't expect much understanding.

Ang, that was part of my point though. A good leader is a good leader to his family. He doesn't have the responsibility of being a news reporter to every civilian in the country.

And if they want to do the things I disagree with, you are absolutely right: I'm not one to say they can't.

I am merely looking at the life I signed up for, where I'd die for my boss and say "thank you", and wondering if any of it is lost. Even if it is lost I keep my obligations. I am what I am.

You need a button Mr_47? I've got one I'll sell you for $26.99.

GBF, maybe you should just escort these (insert nice but not so nice word here) over to a new corner since they can not seem to be adult enough to keep up with the conversation at hand.

I bet a button would fit nicely down their throat and silence them, but then again, that might get me exiled if I actually suggested it.

They don't know what a button is. Or their sense of humor finds its way into conversations it don't belong. If that's the case, carry on. I got jokes too but not right now.

But if you don't know what a button is you probably don't know what Omerta and LCN are either. Ignore most of what I said. The civilian part of my conversation is what was addressed to you.
