David_Webb walks out onto the street and gathers attention and begins to speak

Now as everyone knows, recently a new emphasis has been put on the rules concerning speaking in this thing of ours. There has also been a large amount of public outcry with concerns about overcensorship and neutering the voice of the community. While, I agree that overcensorship is a bad thing, especially for this community, I don't think that the emphasis on preexisting rules is changing anything. Speak as you normally would, with one small change. When someone comes into your discussion and makes an inappropriate comment you don't turn it into an argument. No one wants to see a petty fight in this thing of ours, its childish and unbecoming of our kind. As a whole we've become lax on the bashing and abuse that some people get in the streets. Whether these people are deserving of it or not its not anyones place to point it out in the fashion we've become accustomed to seeing.

So what do the new rules really mean? They ask everyone to be responsible for what they say... OH THE HORRORS!!! Seriously, if you want to be a good member of your crew, shouldn't you at least be able to act the right way in public. The whole outrage about this whole topic seems to be centered around people wanting to ignore their responsiblity to act in a reasonable manner here. This community needs people who can deal with the responsiblities of our way of life and still not throw tantrums whenever someone disagrees with their ideas. There will always be a gray area on whats acceptable and what isn't but everyone needs to understand that if you're about to say something thats in the gray area then don't cry when the consequences go against you.

I know already that this will fall on deaf ears for many people since no one wants to be preached to, but hopefully it implants the idea in everyone's mind that your resposibilities don't just lie with donating and training your gun, but with speaking responsibly as well.

David_Webb walks away hoping that things turn for the better in the world.
