The Start Started by: Gustav-Morello on Mar 31, '20 02:32

Gustav was sitting in his Las Vegas Penthouse with his wife @Mazdyn-Morello being somewhere inside doing what she does, he was Smoking on a cigar and reading over the budget sheet of the Chicago hotel him and his wife own. They was in the green, making a little over $1000 this month. Thanks to the black jack table mostly, but the pair had talked about getting into more...devious. Endeavours, Gustav had talked with a friend of his about this, with a friend already on the inside, things should be easier to get into. Gus knew that the mob life was demanding, it required every ounce of his dedication for him and his wife to succeed. They where ready and willing.

The phone rang Brrrt...Brrrt... Gus scrambled to the phone to pick it up, he had hoped it was his friend “Hello?” The line was quiet...just breathing on the other side, Gus was confused, he stood looking out of his window, phone still to his ear, he wasn’t scared...he was just confused, why was this caller not speaking? Was it his friend?

Sullivan stared out of the window of his room in the Strip. Salena was in the shower, and Audolf, their driver, was lounging around on the bed... At least that was what Sullivan thought. Closing the curtains, he spun to catch Audolf on the phone; not talking, only breathing. "What are you doing?" Sullivan asked as he approached. "Give me that, don't call people and be strange. That's not right. You're trained better than that."

Looking at the paper beside the phone, Sully recognized the number. Frowning at Audolf, he groaned. Audolf on the other hand, laughed. "You should see your face, Sully! AH! It's great! Sorry... I'm just bored sitting here. I wanted to get things moving."

Rolling his eyes, Sullivan pointed to the paper. "Is that the number you called?"

Audolf nodded.

Sullivan placed the phone against his head and spoke...

"There's a package that will be dropped off in the lobby of your building, addressed to Valentino Messina. Deliver it to the address and explain it got left in your building by mistake. Leave the building. Do -not- get caught up playing games in the casino. You will be contacted shortly afterward."

The phone line went dead as Sullivan hung up his end. Smiling, he clasped his hands behind his back as he turned to the window. "There, Audolf. Things are in motion..."

Mazdyn walks into the room to find her husband jotting down an address on a piece of paper. He quickly fills her in on the task at hand. She takes the piece of paper and quickly memorizes the address and the name and tosses the paper into the fireplace. She knew that things would go much more smoothly if her husband wasn’t tempted by the commotion in the casino. She kisses her husband and being the gentleman that he is he helps her into her coat and she walks to the door.

She proceeds to the lobby to retrieve the package and heads out. It wasn’t far to the address and it was a nice night so she decided to walk. There was a gentle breeze blowing but she could also hear heavy footsteps behind her. She hastens her steps and quickly turns down the alley way and ducks behind a stone pillar. A tall dark shadow appears and briskly walks by her. He does not see her but she gets a good look at him. Minutes pass before she walks back to the sidewalk. Before long she approaches the building she had been looking for.

Mazdyn opens the door to a pristine lobby and walks to the front desk. “Excuse me Sir, this package seems to have been delivered to the wrong address.” The man looks at Mazdyn but takes the package. “Ah yes, Valentino Messina has been expecting this.” The man slides her an envelope and she tucks it inside her coat and thanks him and turns to the door. She stops to look into the casino thankful that Gustav wasn’t here. He would never let them leave.

After a uneventful walk back home, she begins to tell Gus about the man in the alleyway.

Gustav was finishing up his cigar and whiskey as his wife came walking in, breathing heavily and placing the envelope on the coffee table, she described a man that she knows was following her, she hid and lost the tail. And done the drop off, the envelope sat there on the table as the pair talked over what they thought was inside, Gustav had the idea that it had the name of the person they needed to meet in order to advance their standings in the criminal underworld. He kissed his wife and stood up, walking to the liquor cabinet and pouring her a glass of whiskey and himself one too, he hands it off to her and sits beside her, lighting up a cigarette and passing it to her then lighting one for himself, they sit and relax, the thoughts of the nights events pacing their minds.

The lights from the strip below paint the walls with a light show, the sound of the radio fill the room with a blissful noise as Gustav picks the envelope up, he takes his knife and opens it up, pulling the paper out and unfolding it, he scans the paper, it reads;

“Good evening Mr Carrel

You've completed the task given to you, and seeing as you’re reading this it went smoothly, no problems and that’s how we like to work here, I understand that you want to join this thing of ours, luckily you’ve gotten an associate to vouch for the pair of you. You’ll get a phone call soon, it’ll be that associate giving you a location. Go there. Burn this.”

Gustav hands the paper to his wife and they both look both look at one another hopefully they get this phone call tonight, hopefully sooner.

Sullivan watched the strip from his window above it... Watched as the Morello woman delivered his package and was handed an envelope. Chuckling, he shook his head. Everything was lining up almost too perfectly as the strings were pulled. He had to wonder what was in that envelope though... Regardless, it didn't matter.

After a few moments of watching across the strip, he saw the flash in one of the windows and smiled.

"Perfect. Absolutely perfect." Sullivan closed his curtains and turned to Audolf. "You know what to do..."

Audolf smiled and nodded, grabbing his hat and placing it atop his head before leaving. Sullivan urged Salena to hurry so they wouldn't miss their diner reservations on the other side of town. The Morello's would not be getting a phone call that night, but they would get a phone call.

All of the stages were set for Audolf as he picked up the early morning paper. Knowing the Morello's would be waiting for their breakfast in the penthouse, Audolf set himself up to be the bellhop. As the elevator door opened on the top floor, Audolf pushed his cart of foods and juices out into the entry hall. Looking around, he chuckled. "Never understood elegance like this. I miss L.A. and the woods." He sighed and pushed his cart down the hallway to the penthouse door and knocked loud enough to wake the dead.

"Breakfast is served, Mr. and Mrs. Morello..." he yelled through the door.

He set the newspaper on the tray with the headline circled.

Alleged Mob Boss Valentino Messina Killed In Casino Bombing

There was another envelope filled with hundreds wrapped inside the newspaper along with a small note that read:

Thank you. I'll be in touch.
~ Your friend

Audolf made his way quickly to the elevator and was already on his way back down long before the Morellos would answer the door and get their food. He had to report to Sullivan so he'd know he could call...

Mazdyn was awoken by the sound of knocking at the door. “Alright, alright. I’m coming” she says as she climbs out of bed and reaches for her robe. She looks through the peephole to see a breakfast cart in the hallway. Mazdyn opens the door and pulls the cart inside. A full english... Gustav will be pleased. Grabbing the newspaper she climbs back into the bed and begins to read. The headline read
Alleged Mob Boss Valentino Messina Killed In Casino Bombing

As she opens the paper to read the article hundreds fall to the silk sheets along with a note. She gives it a read before turning to wake her husband. “Wake up my love” she says as a smile sweeps over her face and she hands him the newspaper.

Gustav woke up to his wife tapping him and throwing a news paper in his face, he stretched and yawned as he reached over to pick up his joint from the night before and lights it as he starts reading, “Mob Boss?” He scans more of the article and his eyes widen. “Wait...holy fuck...Valentino Messina...” he says taking one long drag from the joint. “You mean to say that if I would’ve went I probably would’ve been even more dead then I usually Am when I go to the casino?” He says chuckling as he knew he has a gambling problem...or so his wife says.

He got out of the bed and put a pair of shorts on as he turns to face his beautiful wife, who was now covered in $100 bills, nothing unusual there, Gustav likes to shower her with bills when the time calls. Heh. Gustav reaches over and kisses his wife before grabbing his full English and laying back down eating and chuckling to himself...Their first hit...wasn’t so hard, was easy actually. Gustav wonders what else was in store for them in this new life of crime.

Mazdyn begins to pick up the money that is now scattered all of the bed, occasionally stealing glances at her husband as he eats his breakfast. The smile that crossed his face as he caught her looking at him warmed her heart. Life is good she thought to herself as she finished stacking the bills.
She climbs out of bed walking over to the hidden panel on the wall and springs the release opening to reveal a safe containing a multitude of things ranging from gun, knives, explosives, jewels, cash. All of the things that one wouldn’t want to be found. Once she finishes placing the stacks of bills safety inside she closes it once more.
She walks over to her husbands side of the bed and pours him a drink. “
After last night I do believe a bath is in order. Won’t be long.” She makes her way to the master bath just off of the bedroom. She leans down and turns on the water adding sweet smelling bubble bath. She flicks on the radio and begins singing along as she relaxes.

The phone rang inside of the Morello's penthouse. One... Two... Three times it rang before someone answered.

"Hello Morellos. You've performed admirable. I assume by now you know what's happened and have received your gifts. I will expect to meet you on The Strip tonight. Do not look for me, just be there, say, seven-thirty. I will find you."

With that, the line went dead as Sullivan hung up his phone. Looking to the bed with Sally sprawled across it, sleeping lazily like a queen, he chuckled. Eventually he would need to introduce the girl to his new friends... But for now? For now he'd let her rest a while longer. He was sure she still had plans to handle on her own.

He made his way through the room and disrobed, turning on the water for the shower as Audolf returned home.

"Everything is done, Sully," he called as he entered, shutting the door. "Is Sally rea-" he paused as he looked at her asleep on the bed. Lowering his voice, he chuckled. "I guess not. Hey Sully, did you hear me?" He poked his head unceremoniously into the bathroom as Sullivan slipped into the shower.

"Yes Audolf. I heard you. I saw you return and park the car so I've already made the call. Wake Sally when I get out of the shower. She will need you for a few errands, but remember, I need you back tonight. We will search out the Morellos on The Strip and have them help us with our other friend."

Nodding, Audolf plopped himself down in his chair and leaned against the wall. "So when is Jakoby coming? I'd like to go back to L.A. soon. I miss the woods."

"I know, Audolf. Soon as he and Evelia have procured what I have asked them to bring, they will be on their way. A few more days, at most a week."

"Okay... I miss home."

Sullivan chuckled as Audolf pouted, his head thudding against the wall dejectedly.

It was half past six when Mazdyn walked over to the bed and laid a neatly pressed suit across it for Gustav. “Gus you need to get ready we have to leave soon, and you know how much I detest being late.” She walks back to the closet and carefully chooses an outfit and gets dressed. She walks over to the vanity, brushes her hair and adds the finishing touches.

Gustav walks into the mumbling something about how he doesn’t think he should have to change, but gets dressed all the same. They walk over to the wall and open their safe. They pull out anything that they can think of that they could possibly need in the night again. They weren’t sure what to expect, but if their previous work had taught them anything, it was to always be prepared.

Mazdyn walks to the door sliding a colt into her handbag before sliding on her gloves. The couple put on their coats and headed for the door. Once in the lobby Gustav motioned to man outside to bring his car around.

It was a few minutes past 7 when they hit the strip. Gustav opened the door as Mazdyn got out of the car. They really weren’t sure where they had no plan as to where they were going, because they knew that when they were where they needed to be then they would know it. The couple held hands as they walked down the strip awaiting their friends arrival.
