SamAdams had scarcely arrived back at home from New York when there is a knock at his door. He opens it and finds a grubby-looking kid. "Yo, you Adams or somethin?" the kid enquires. Sam nods. "Well, I got a message fo ya. The boss says ya gotta meet his man downtown by the Post Office at 3. Got that?" Sam nods again and thanks the boy, who quickly slinks off down the street. ~~~ Sam is about to leave the Post Office when he sees a man who looks rather like a cross between a mobster and a stock broker staring at him from an alleyway. "I guess he's my guy," Sam thinks and enters the alley. "Hello, sorry I was late, had a spot of trouble," the man says. "OK, I'll make this quick. I assume you did something for us in NYC?" "Yes," Sam says. "Okay, that's good. Well, I'm sure you saw a ship there, you'll learn all about this whole thing at some point. For now, let's just say that it wasn't as innocent as it looked. Good?" Sam nods, his mind racing with many way in which the ship could have been helping with something illegal. "Alright, good. Now, the job. We have a lot of trucks that move a variety of things around the western US and Canada. Lately though, one of our usual drop-off places in northern Nevada has been being watched, and we fear an attack. Don't worry, it's not the feds, nor a crew, you've got nothing to worry about there. It's an outfit of robbers. Kinda modern highway-men, if you've read your history and watched your Westerns." Sam nods again, understanding perfectly. "Well, we think these suckers are gonna try to get their paws on our stuff at some point, and we'd rather not lose it. So, we need someone to protect it. The guys in the driver's seat have guns, but they couldn't tell one end of a gun from the other. And we'd rather not hire guards, too expensive and snoopy. You in? It'd only be a day-trip from Vegas." Sam considers for a moment, then agrees. "Great," says the man. "You'll get your compensation when you get back here, whether they do anything or not." |

Sam boards the truck as soon as it pulls into the warehouse where he was told to wait. After a few hours going north on a highway, the truck turns off the main road onto a small, little-used dirt road. After driving for perhaps 20 minutes, the truck comes to a stop. "The drop-off place is 3 miles ahead," the driver says. "We think the gang of robbers will be about a mile from here." Sam nods and picks up the Thompson Sub Machine Gun from the floor. About a mile later, the truck jerks to a stop as two cars pull out of the desert bushes, blocking the road in front of and behind the truck. Two men get out of each car, revolvers in hand. The apparent leader shouts, "Hands up! Out of the truck." As the drivers lean down behind the dashboard, Sam raises the Tommy and point it through the windshield at the leader. "Get the hell out of here!" Sam yells through the window. The men scramble for cover behind the car and raise their guns. "One chance!" the man yells. "Lower that gun, NOW!" Sam pulls the trigger, sending a stream of lead into one of the men's heads. As he topples backward in a bloody heap, the remaining three men fire into the truck. Sam leans down, glass shattering above. Sam then hears footsteps approaching the driver's door. The driver makes himself as flat as possible as Sam lays on top of him, his handgun ready. The door opens, and Sam fires a single shot into the abdomen of a man standing 10 feet back, evidently trying to cover the man opening the door. The door slams shut again, curses and shouts filling the air. A car door slams, and sam sits up, catching up his Tommy as he does. The car in the front revs its' engine, then roars towards the truck, the driver jumping out as it does. The two men in the truck wrench open the doors and run through the gunfire towards some bushes as Sam takes out the man escaping the car. Just a moment after Sam leaps out of the truck, the car rams into it, destroying the cab. The leader runs back up the road, only to fall dead a second later with a round from Sam's gun in his back. ~~~ Two days later, the grubby kid knocks in Sam's door again. "Here," the kid says, shoving a wad of bills in Sam's face. "This is fo ya werk. The boss says good work, and don't feell bad bout the truck. He also said to meet his man tomorrow at the gas station north of town if you want more work." With that, the kid disappears. |

Why did you pause in the middle of your story? Are you talking to yourself? That's a very strange thing to do. Unless you are trying to perform more single interactions, to allow yourself more chance of winning prizes from City Hall? If that is the case, then I feel very sorry for you, and you should be ashamed. |

Fuck off chalk. No body gives a damn when you start running your mouth so who cares what anyone else does. You’re just as bad as any of these ass hats from Chicago. |

Connor_McManus, why are you so aggressive? There's no need to take that kind of tone. That's the problem, you say 'nobody cares', but I do. You may not care, and therefore you are part of the problem. I would like to see these streets better than what they currently are. Not being filled with this, designed specifically to defraud a system meant to promote genuine activity and interaction. So no, I will not fuck off, thank you. |

kind of self explanatory there Hawk. Any of those from Chicago that see themselves as the end all be all that feel the need to tell others what they should do and how they should do it. If you don’t know those names already than you haven’t been paying any attention what so ever. And as far as you go Chalk, take it up with the gods as opposed to stepping in where it has absolutely nothing to do with you. Go jump into one of the other street posts about this topic instead of one that someone actually put time and effort into. |

The streets are for interaction, not for people to talk to themselves, all the while defrauding a system. I'm not going to sit back and just allow it to happen. I understand why you have taken issue to what I said, as you have been one of the people to try this dirty trick for yourself before. Does nobody around here have any dignity any more? Be better, expect better, and it will get better. |

It’s pretty funny that you talk about dignity yet will get the same points. Like I said, take it up with the gods, there’s no reason for you to step in where you don’t belong and more importantly, not wanted. Just because you aren’t capable of an original thought doesn’t mean that the rest of us aren’t. |

| Are you mad because collective members of Chicago don’t believe in werewolves and vampires? We actually call people out for their bullshit, not just ignore it. Until my boss, the voice of the streets, king of the bins, 7th of his name, Grin tells me and others to pip down, we’re all going to keep calling bullshit when we see it. | |

To be fair, and this isn't the area to do this but I'm going to either way. People have been telling tales using the Streets far before the times where you would be paid for doing so, and in fact I can recall all the way in the times much older than now, at least ten years, where my own great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather would interact with creatures from other worlds in long spanning tales that had absolutely nothing to do with his business in the mafia and were just simply because he could. People got pissed about it back then too, from what I hear. Yet here we are. You're fighting a losing battle and unless it is said by those above that people can no longer write tales, going into them to ruin these stories will only serve to cause drama which you'll then use to pad your own stats, so to speak. Who is to say this is any better? If you can prove that everyone writing stories is doing so to game a faulty system, then present this proof. Otherwise you can't really say when someone is trying to win gifts in the mail, or who is doing it simply because they enjoy the act. People have been fighting this battle for as long as I can remember, and it is one that will never end. Anyways, I apologize to Sam Adams for continuing to hijack what he was trying to do here. Carry on. |

SamAdams, seeing his latest escapade has made quite the disturbance, shutters his window so as not to hear people who can't even spell blabbing around. |

Feel free too and the rest of us that see his bullshit for exactly what it is, bullshit, will continue speaking out against it as well. At this point we can agree to disagree. I could care less what you guys think the streets should be because they are in fact that, the streets, anyone is free to say and do what they want. That’s the glory of free speech. |

Connor_McManus, I'm not wanted in this story? I must say, my heart bleeds when I hear you say such things. It really cuts deep when Connor_McManus doesn't want me to reply to the poor quality silly stories that are plaguing our streets. Unfortunately for you, you do not mean anything to me, nor does your opinion. Also, the streets are a public forum, and if I want to convey distaste towards the crap that get's put out, I will. On the matter of me receiving the same 'points', all of my outings in these streets have been to interact and engage the rest of the population, I have not come out here to spout some inane drivel to myself, while looking for no interaction, and if interaction happens, taking issue with it because I don't like what they're saying. Just because you aren't capable of holding people or yourself to a higher standard, doesn't mean that the rest of us aren't. |

It is quite funny how you speak of a higher standard yet the only thing you’ve ever done is cause trouble for others. Live and let live right? Why does it bother you so much when you could clearly just ignore it and go on with your life? Is it because you aren’t clever enough to have an original thought in your head? Its quite amusing how you think that you are somehow better than anyone else because you do things a different way. You clearly need the interaction to make yourself feel important. But the honest truth is you’re just sad. |

Sisyphus, I will try to respond to all your points, but apologies if I miss something. In terms of people doing this for a while, that doesn't make it okay, and it doesn't mean I'm going to stop calling it out. As I've said many times before. The streets are for interaction, and the only interaction that this story has caused, is because I took issue with it. If you are incapable of organising a well thought out story between a few friends, and acting it out in the streets, don't just resort to talking to yourself. I am not using anything to 'pad my own stats'. I enjoy talking in the streets with other people, and whenever I do come out here, I make each outing as thorough and lengthy as it needs to be. I do not begin saying my opinion, put it out to the people, and then immediately say something else, without anyone responding. That is the 'padding of the stats' as you say. The proof is right above me, and in many other places. Why is this story in two parts, displayed at the same minute, without any other input from anybody else in between? The parts weren't lengthy. They did not need to be split in two. They are split in two, to defraud a system, and as long as that continues to happen, I will come here and make that obvious, and hopefully disgrace whoever has decided to do it. If it stops, then so will I, as I do not need to 'pad my stats' on responses to this. |

Connor_McManus, didn't see you there. Could you please inform of all these times I have caused trouble for others? I'm not even doing that right now, if anything I am attempting to improve things. It bothers me because it should bother more people. I'm glad you find a lot of things 'quite amusing', however you're forgetting the funniest thing of all. Your poor attempts to insult me are actually proving your lack of intelligence. That's what people do, you see, when they do now have a solid argument, or valid points of their own, they resort to insults. I personally do not need the interaction, instead I offer interaction to other people as it is good for this little thing of ours. You are right about one thing though, I am sad. I am very sad that what is currently happening is okay with so many people. I am very sad that when somebody wants to do something about it, people such as yourself can only argue against it by telling them to 'fuck off'. I am very sad that your piss poor standards are unable to be raised. I hope one day to not be sad about these things. |

TwoKnuckles hears some bickering in the streets and stops for a listen. What he hears from a temporary shelter figurehead perplexes him. You do realize Conner, that you're going to eventually have to find another place to call home? It's not wise to disrespect an entire city when you are currently without a permanent residence. What did I ever do to you, friend? We all have to coexist in This Thing of Ours. Can mobsters of renown not come share their opinions in public, same as you? |
