The corner newsboy is getting a work out this week. Today he yells, "Paper! Paper! Read about the multi-million hits! Paper! Read about all the new crews! Paper!" You flip him a nickel and pick up the second edition of the revived Star-Examiner.

Another great edition, Sam.

I wasn't expecting one so soon after the first one, but with so much happening at the moment, it makes sense to have them this often.

Can't wait for the next one.

Mirko was walking down the street when he spotted a news stand. It had been a while since he picked up something good to read for his early morning trips to Central Park. So with a few minutes spent glancing around the stand his eyes finally landed upon a newspaper. It was titled "The Star-Examiner" and it was a title he felt he had heard of before somewhere. Perhaps it was in his fathers journals or something...

He tossed some cash onto the stand as he walked away holding the newspaper and a few magazines for the Bowery Street HQ. It was time for his quiet morning in Central park...

About an hour later...

On his way back from the park he stopped at the news stand...

"Hey, where did this paper come from?" He inquired.

The man behind the wooden counter looked over and smirked, "It's The Star-Examiner. It's from a man named SamAdams in Las Vegas. Fine read, eh?"

Mirko nodded as he handed the man a tip for the information. The newspaper was of high quality and looked like it would only continue to grow so he figured he wanted to show some support to the man. His bloodline had always enjoyed a good newspaper and dabbled in the business as well. But Mirko was in the liquor business for the long haul and would probably not have time for such a venture. So he made his way back to his office on Bowery Street to write a short letter...

Dear Mr. Adams,

I've found your paper, The Star-Examiner to be quite impressive thus far. I hope to see you continue the hard work needed to produce a quality paper such as this one. I'll always do what I can to support those who deserve it. If you are ever in New York I welcome you to take the time to visit one of our establishments and I'll buy you a drink. Thank you for your fine work and I look forward to what comes next.

With that he folded up the letter and placed it in an envelope with a small sum of cash that he hoped would help to keep the paper going whether it was in need of the assistance or not. He handed off the sealed envelope to one of his men....

"Go get this to the post office and make sure they know to expedite it!" Mirko shouted as he took the envelope and made his way out of the office.

Time to go see how things are going down at the warehouse, Mirko thought to himself...

Sam's secretary walks in and puts and envelope on his desk. "Thanks you, miss," Sam says as he opens it. He is amazed to see the wads of bills within, and a note from Mr. MirkoFritzinger. "Secretary! Bring me paper and an envelope!" Sam calls. He writes the following:

Friday, April 10, 1930

Dear Mr. Fritzinger,

I have received your note and your donation. I 
heartily thank you for the cash, and I'm very glad 
that you like my publication! Thanks again,

Asked this man to spare some money and was turned away coldly.  Called a 'beggar' and spoken to in a dehumanizing manner.  To see a man profit from exploiting the exploits of others, only to display zero philanthropy or empathy towards those less fortunate in return is disheartening, and goes to show how the elite view us.  Like something they would step on accidentally and scrape off the bottom of their shoe in an annoyed fashion.  If any subscribers have finished reading your papers, please consider giving them to me so that I may use them as a blanket tonight.  Bless you.
