We are in the mafia.  What makes Kuku, particularly, so terrible?

Anton, to be honest, your bloodline has done nothing wrong. As you say, this is the Mafia, lying, cheating, swindling, conning people, murder, robbing... it's all part of our way of life. Even the bravado, claiming to be the biggest, the best, the baddest, whatever, it's part and parcel of the territory. However, you will and should expect to make enemies. The problem is, our particular brand of mafia is different from any other that you may know of or have heard of. We have generations of shared memories to look back on, in some cases that's in the hundreds. So if 16 generations ago your great great grand daddy fucked of my Great grand daddy, and their sons had a falling out and their sons and so on all the way down to today, how would you think my son would treat or think of your son? There is an old saying, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. Well in our organisation that saying is multiplied a hundred fold.

Until relatively recently, my family and yours never interacted. Oh we had heard of you guys, we knew of you, had seen the aftermath of your street presence, but you where outside of our circle, or sphere of friends and allies. When we finally did cross familial paths, my family genuinely did try and assist yours, they went out of their way to offer assistance, and try and help your family make a new start, turn a fresh page, but your family wasnt interested. Either they didnt think what my ancestors had to say was important or relevant, or they had no respect for my family, or you simply didnt like my family, or perhaps feared some aspect of it, what ever the reason, your relatives continued to sit on their high horses and try and look down on everyone and every thing, right up until city hall knocked them the fuck off their horse. 

The first Commissar went to jail and was executed. His son, given an exclusion order and prevented from entering the country. But that wasnt good enough, so when he petitioned city hall to allow his return, he made up stories about his time in prison. Well I have been in and out of prison. My grandfather was even placed in City hall's prison for a time because of the actions of an asshole he barely knew. My family never saw Commissar Kuku in jail. So all your grandfather's made up stories did was belittle some folk in our society, made fun of an aspect of their life that they have no choice in, and made them angry. On top of that he jumped straight back in where his father had finished, belittling people, scamming people, living, cheating and causing arguments were ever he went. But, he didnt have the age of his father on his side, and ultimately his grandiose opinion of himself proved to be somewhat over inflated and finally burst. Then, along comes Wilde, who jumps straight back in with both feet, and I believe Grin said all that needed to be said to Wilde right after he shot him. Your families continued asshattery costs people respect, and money. Why would anyone want to protect you knowing that it could well come back and bite them on the ass? Why would anyone want to be your friend when they know you might betray them at any time? Why would someone want to sponsor you when they know that it could see their entire family hit listed and targets for Tyler Durden?

Every generation of your family initially comes to these shores, begs forgives, speaks of acts of contrition and of finally learning your lesson, but as the seconds roll on, the old family ego raises its head and you guys always return to what you have always done. We are now at that point in time were almost everyone in our organisation looks at you and thinks, hmmm, bad investment, a leopard can't change its spots after all.

The truth is, Zev was a very busy man and he simply recalled your ancestor as some pain in the ass who seemed overly interested in him.  Nothing more, or less, sinister than that.  My bloodline has often been accused of having an over-inflated sense of importance, but who was your ancestor to preach to mine?  If the records are accurate, Zev had such a high-standing in the state of play as it was then that he was able to simply execute your relative and remain safe and well to continue as he did previously.

The point I was making was not that my family felt aggrieved. Sure the rules where what they were, and Zev used the rules to his advantage. I actually said it correctly, ' they didn't think what my ancestors had to say was important' the very first thing I said. But as per your bloodline's modus operandi, you cherry picked the bit that you wanted to highlight, so that you could simply throw out or ignore the rest. Again, you ignored the main point and went off on a tangent to try and make yourself look like the victim. So allow me, if you will, to jump to the end first. Shouldn't Kuku be praised for setting a standard? No, he fucking shouldn't. Kuku riled people up, he pissed on their parades and shit on their picnics. He was the instrument of his own destruction, and he found himself backed into a corner, so he started throwing out duel challenges, probably hoping that no one would accept. Specifics, please.  So, for example, someone, you, could say, with ample justification, "you misused rules around mugging to kill my relative, used stolen money to pay the compensation, and were part of an operation that gave a several members of our society an unfair advantage over everyone else, and you were arrogant, boastful and abusive in the process."

That is absolute fair comment.  But what I would say back is simply this: my bloodline was already hated.  The casino skimming operation surely heightened that hatred, but the hatred was there.

So what else?  What has happened.  Specifics.

I am quite sure that most people, and most of the Kuku haters, simply won't be able to name a single action that is commensurate with the level of detestation which with they feel for my bloodline.
