The Following Day

Johnny woke late in the morning when he heard a couple horns beep and his eyes opened to the burning light of the sun, just before noon. He straightened his coat and got his hair sorted before placing his fedora back on his head. He stepped outside with a lit cigarette and started his stretches while he saw who was making all of the racket. Another three vehicles had pulled up, two black four door Fords and a large truck. Men piled out and began unloading the truck with more tools and various crates of parts, they nodded their heads and got to work while Johnny sat with eye sand still sitting in the corners of his eyelids. He sipped on a glass of water and looked around for any of his guys. He saw the large shadow of a man, sitting in the doorway of one of the planes and knew it had to be Tony. As he approached, he knew he was right because Tony turned around with the look of bad news stretched across his forehead. "Morning, boss...I got here early like you said, figured you wanted to be left alone. We got some good news and bad news. They know one of the planes is fully ready to go, the other was mostly ready but they noticed the whole fuel system needs a good dump and some of the parts need to be switched. But you can always ride out of here with the one that is ready...we can take care of things." Johnny finished his cigarette and shook his head, "No, Tony...its fine. I will wait it out til tonight...by then we should know if the others are ready to go. Im assuming the fuel dump is going to take a bit, so I guess let's move on to the plane that is good and we can relax and scheme while I think up some ideas for the renovations." Tony smiled and they went off to relax. The night crew loaded up and left, each with a fresh jar of the finest shine from Tennessee.
