“This was by no means a small task and I am very proud of the turnout for the first of hopefully many contests to grace these shores. All of the entries were superbly written but alas there are only prizes given for the top three. It is my honor to award first place to MickeyTheRat, second place to Taiga and third place to Latom. Prize money will be handed out shortly.

The entire point of this was to bring more writers to this thing of ours. It doesn’t matter if someone is a seasoned vet or a fresh face just starting out. We are all on equal footing here. I gracefully thank all those that stepped forward, maybe they were out of their comfort zone but they put the effort in and deserve the recognition that comes with it. 

I am supremely proud of the turn out and I look forward to starting up another contest shortly. Thank you all for your time and effort, none of this would be possible without you

The prize funds for this contest were donated by a private benefactor, who wishes to remain anonymous, but would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who entered. This is the first step to creating a better platform from which to launch future contests.”

I did not win, sadly. I had hoped by rallying the troops with my rousing speech of sharing the pot would have won over the other writers of this world who would want to spread around the wealth. Sadly, however, this was not the case. Perhaps communism truly is dead in this world of ours.

All I can say is congratulations to the victors. While my story was not impressive, it was a statement. A statement on the fragility of man, and I really think we can all agree that's important stuff to be talking about. Especially in a world filled with so much violence, so while I was not the winner, I think in the end I did win the most important trophy of them all-- mutual respect among my peers.

But if you think I should have won don't be afraid to tip me a few million. Like, ten million, maybe? Just a thought. Haha. Funny thought, huh? Unless...

Taiga shook the hands of the other participants and congratulated the other winners joyously. All of the entries were exquisitely written and each mafioso brought their own little twist to the writing prompt. Turning to Matt_Murdock, she gratefully accepted the reward and shook his hand firmly. "Thank you for organizing this event, Mr. Murdock. I'm glad to see that people are starting to come out and show their talents in the Streets again," she started as she looked over the small crowd of writers gathered around them. "Looking forward to future contests and hopefully to writing with this talented bunch at some point in the future again."

I am pleased to see this was such a success and that nobody at all came to any harm; something of a rarity when considering recent similarly harmless offerings in the time of Dishonorably Discharged Soviet State. Hopefully this indicative of better times where we can have some nice things and, of course, special thanks to Latom in knocking Sisyphus' altruistic attempt out of the prize money.
