What is your idea?

My idea is quite simple.  If the person who has posted the hit is dead, then payment is not guaranteed, and TylerDurden doesn't take any shots.  The hit can remain, keep people guessing, it has, after all, but Tyler doesn't trust that he'd get paid.

Easily, from a coding perspective.

None, it would be easy.

What is the positive impact of your idea?

Might make people think twice before using the hit-list to relentlessly bloodline individuals.  It would also prevent innocent deaths, by encouraging careful tracking, logging and executing of suspects.  Also, it's far more realistic.

What is the negative impact of your idea?

Those hit-listing will lose their perceived power.

How may your idea affect the rest of the userbase?

It will only affect the hit-listers, and the hit-listed - a tiny, but rich and/or powerful section of the userbase.

1. This is a self serving suggestion. The funds are already set aside for hits. Anonymous hits should remain as they are. Killing someone not anonymous already removes the hit.

-1 from me as well. You pay a 3rd party to contract a hit and they take the money...you die....guess what? They're probably still going to honor the Hit that you paid for. 

Zoom - actually, since this is the mafia, the third party probably rips the killer off.  Because who's gonna enforce it?

Mercury - everyone is self-serving.  Which self-respecting mafia boss is going to honour a contract killing from a dead person?  Makes no sense.

That would be how you quickly lose reputation and paint a target on your back, Kirsty. Despite public opinion there is definitely some honor among criminals!

How are you to know they are dead? It's anonymous, after all

Mercury - Well, how in the real world would someone manage to place a $45M hit on someone anonymously?  The person doing the work would have to collect the money, yes?

Funds are deposited when an anonymous hit goes up. When it is fulfilled, they are paid from those funds. Since it's anonymous, the hitter and person placing hit never cross paths. The hitter would have no way of knowing is the person listing was alive or not. The money would still be there to be collected on proof of death.

I'm not entertaining my opinion further.

The hit list is already pretty useless, without making it more so.
