My Own Dance Started by: Simplicity on Jun 07, '20 00:46

Simplicity was waiting for the informant to meet her at the local jazz club. She was gaining a decent collection of eyes everywhere. Yet, this pair of eyes said they had a whisper that would make the fat lady sing. Simplicity wanted to collect this message personally to make sure no foul play occurred or that the information got into the wrong hands.

The band was in full swing and there were plenty of couples happily dancing around. Simplicity was wearing a long evening gown, a little different to the last attire she wore out. The dress she chose was sleeveless and of the finest silk, it flowed a little better than most styles. The color was a soft blue tone, which complimented her eyes.

This night she expected very little issues. The location she chose wasn't far into any families territory. Those here were almost all regular folks living out their cheery lives. She did notice one familiar face, but that was just the man leading the jazz band, as he was one of her eyes. The band played at a lot of popular locations in town, and he was one of her top informants. Yet, tonight he was just here to assist, he was not the man she was meeting.

As she continued to enjoy the music and her drink, a fine clothed gentleman leaned up against the bar next to her to order a glass of wine. She could not see his face, but just by looking at the fabric of his suit she knew he had some money. She tilted her head and then played a little with her hair before taking a sip of her own wine.

The bartender nodded to the man and poured his drink. He then swirled it around before enjoying the smell. The moment after he took a sip she saw his smile from beneath his hat. The mystery almost made her interested in knowing more about this man and ignore why she was here, but then he spoke.

"Ahhh, this wine is simply sweet, perfection."

It was her informants tag line to let her know it was them. She raised her eyebrow as he turned to look at her. Yet, this man was not her informant. She kept her composure, but inside she started to become uneasy, even if this man was smooth as butter with how he dressed and looked.

"I am the message your informant had for you. He did his job, don't worry, darling."

Simplicity smiled and took a sip of her wine. She took a few moments to try and size up the man before her. His jawline was sharp, his gaze soft, and his smile weakening. Attraction would have to wait, she wanted what he had for her...information. Simplicity looked towards the jazz band and winked. The song was close to ending and her informant smiled to confirm he got the message. The next song they played would be hers.

"Would you care to dance?"

He asked as he noticed her looking towards the band. Simplicity chuckled and took another sip of her wine.

"I only dance to my own dance."

The gentleman didn't quite understand until he heard the song change. It was quite different to all the others that were playing. Most of the couples left the floor as they were unsure how to dance to this music. This is when Simplicity stood up and offered her hand to the man. He looked at her, back to the floor, then to her.

"Don't worry, I'll help lead you."

She laughed softly and he took her hand. They made their way out to the dance floor and Simplicity began to flow to the music. She motioned for the man to just look into her eyes and follow the motion of where her body was leading. She knew this made him uncomfortable, men around these parts like to be the boss, the leader, and the one who is in control. At this moment he had to let all of that go and just trust her, follow her, and let her be the one to help him get to where they were going.

"You can tell me what I need to know during this song. So please, keep to the main points."

The gentleman smirked and seemed like he was starting to enjoy her calling the shots in both the conversation and in their dance. No one would be able to hear him because of the music and no one was nearby because no one knew how to dance to her own dance. He realized why she was so good with getting good information and keeping it safe. He was starting to hope he'd get to meet her again, but she was never one to waste much time on the men around here.

The song went on for about four to five minutes. It was a little longer than most the band played, but the boys seemed to enjoy playing it all the same. The crowd also by the end was starting to enjoy it too. Yet, as it started to come to the end she had gathered what she needed to know and satisfied her want to be closer to the him. Her time here was well spent and enjoyed.

"Perhaps one day we shall meet again, I would love to dance again to your dance, not another's."

He said to her, but Simplicity only thanked him and left him with barely a few words. She was more a business woman and her work here was done. Even if it did come with some pleasure. She gave him a wave, finished her glass of wine, tipped the bartender, and was on her way. The only thing he could enjoy now, was watching her walk away.
