Dominic shuffled down the Vegas strip in a rough looking jacket.  The cool night air was still, barely stirred about by the passing crowds milling from one shot of dopamine to the next.  Passing by the open lobbies of the cheaper casinos his ears were assaulted by the din of slot machines, drunken revelries and the occasional fight.

"Music.  This place could really use some music," Dominic thought to himself.

He walked on for what felt like hours until he came to a quiet part of town.  Looking at the journal in his hand he checked the signs at the street corner.  Fortune St. and Pioneer.  His brother always did have a sense for where to dig for buried treasure.

A closed down silent movie theater loomed in the night.  Its marquee, adorned with hundreds of lightbulbs now dark and lifeless, was barely visible in the street light.  "City Lights" was still listed as the picture they last showed.  One of Charlie Chaplins last silent films.  Dominic never did get to see it.  A weathered, sun bleached "For Rent" sign hung in the broken window of the ticket booth.

"Well I found it, pal.  Guess this is as good a spot as any to start your financial empire."

He looked up and down the street, off in the distance stood Lorenzi Lake Park where the dance pavilion once hosted live bands and community get togethers.  Vegas was a different town now since then but maybe...just maybe... a little of that old spirit could come back.

Dominic sat in a plain wooden swivel chair in a dusty office hunched over an outdated candlestick telephone.

"That's right I bought the place...  Where do you think I'm calling from?  Yep.

No they weren't even expecting a tenant anymore so I made em an offer they couldn't refuse.  Twenty grand.

Yeah.

Well of course it was cheap, it's not much to look at right now but it will be...

I'll worry about that, you just find me some investors."

Dominic placed the phone receiver gently back on the hook and massaged his temples.

"How did you ever manage to juggle all this stuff, Mickey?" he said to himself with a sigh.

Picking up a rolodex of phone numbers Dominic closed his eyes and flipped to a random card.

"Really?  Well it's worth a shot."

He dialed the number and waited for the potential performer on the other end of the line to pick up.

[If you've got a talent, any talent, you want to showcase at Dom's Vaudeville Extravaganza "The Stars of Las Vegas" feel free to pick up the phone and tell me about it ;) ]
