The Streets are a veritable hive of activity.  People are hustling and bustling, many are keen to have their say, opine, get their point across.  Joining them, Anton takes a sip of his Cognac, lights a cigar and begins to speak

"When was the last time that so many people debated a war?  When was the last time that the Streets were so ALIVE with the sounds of pissed off, bereaved mobsters and emphatic war veterans, disagreeing about who said what, and to whom, and which bit of advice should have been followed and who, God dammit, is really responsible for the war?

Me?  Well, my father was shot dead at the mid-point of the war, and I suppose that it would be said that he was on the losing side.  But who cares?  I'm my own man, and I hope for two things: to learn from his mistakes, and to follow his lead when it comes to honour.  

He died like a man.

Now when I look around, I see relative peace.  I see men who, although victorious, are still adjusting to the new world.  And I see hungry leaders, and eager gun-men.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I guess, in summary, the question I want to ask is this:

War, huh, what was that one good for?

I don't think it was absolutely nothin' - I think a war is needed, every so often.  Maybe a middle sized one, rather than a major one.

And to add to that, I'll ask this follow up question:

Are regular smaller wars better than major, massive wars, that wipe out most of the members of our society? 

I have to disagree with you, sir. Regular wars are not healthy for the Mob. They arouse the cops, they interrupt our rackets and dealings, and usually decimate our society. 

I believe part of that is due to the trend for one man or city to rule the other cities the Commission operates in. If each city was run by a Godfather, not allianced or obedient to another city, wars, while perhaps more frequent, as there would be six different sides rather than two or three, would involve only two cities and be significantly less detrimental to the Mafia at large.
