The Secret Society of Super Villains Started by: Hush on Jul 11, '20 00:26

Hush had been roaming the streets of Chicago all morning. Pressing business had kept him on the streets and away from the HQ. Cromwell had been found drunk with a few prostitutes again, and Hush had volunteered to go pick him up. Elodin couldn't do it with his small raccoon hands, so it was up to Hush. A labor leader had wanted to get Hush's advice on a problem he had been having, which took up a majority of his morning. He stopped by his personal operating room, and completed the finishing touches on his latest transformation of his own face. He was remaking his face for an upcoming job that required he not be recognized at all. Once he applied fresh bandages, completing his signature look he stepped out of the OR and back onto the streets.

His driver was waiting for him with the door open, and he slid in. It was time to make his way back to his new HQ, and perform his duties as leader of the newest Chicago crime syndicate. As they drove, he kept a constant eye on the rooftops. He was always looking out for his nemesis, the caped crusader who took to dressing like a bat. Hush never understood why the man did this, but he tried not to think too hard on it. Once he arrived at the HQ, he noticed AidenPearce waiting at the door.

"They've been here a while, you were expected an hour ago." Aiden had said to him when he made his way up the steps.

"I know, I know, but you know how Cromwell gets after a night of drinking...he's intolerable."

Hush adjusted the sign that hung above the door that read "Totally not a secret hideout" with a small "SSoSV" in the bottom corner. Once it was straight, he turned to address the crowd of mobsters that had come to see him.

"My friends, colleagues, rodents I appreciate you coming out today to see the unveiling of my new base of operations. I apologize that it took me this long to get here, but I had pressing business to deal with on the North Side of town."

Hush lit a fresh cigarette before continuing his speech.

"As a lot of you know, I've spent a majority of my criminal career alongside Grin-08 and Elodin. I owe a lot to them. My father was taken in by Grins when he first arrived on our shores, and Elodin took me in when I needed a place to stay. But as we all know, you can only stand the odor that wafts off the little raccoon for so long, so I have branched out into the South Side in order to readjust my nose to the smell of somewhat normal society. Grin blessed this move because he knows my pain. Anyone who has been around him knows my pain."

Hush glanced at Aiden to his right, clearly proud of what he was about to say.

"Without further adieu, may I present to you all...The Secret Society of Super Villains!"

The soft tide of a hangover pulsed behind Cromwell's watery eyes and grew heavier with every passing moment, the last remaining tremors of last night's storm. He pushed a handkerchief against the small beads of sweat that lined his forehead. It did little good. The July heat was pressing down on his beleagured soul with a tyrant's fervor. The good news of the day was what kept him pressing on, and he made sure to approach his friend Hush with his best wishes.

"You have earned this chance through and through, Hush, the rackets on the South Side are yours for the taking. There isn't a more qualified man to see to our interests in those tough neighborhoods, particularly with your supervillains doing the dirty work. And if a leader is only as good as the people working for him, you've swung for the fences with your #2; AidenPearce has served this city as long and capably as anyone. Best of luck, my friend, though I don't think you'll need it."

Mandalore happened to be walking in the streets when he saw and heard the news.

"Congrats Hush! Wish the best of luck to you."
